If I could give it no stars I most absolutely would ! My sister took her dog here which is her baby she's been in our family for 13 years and she had a tumor that had grew very quickly so she takes her dog here on March 4th 2025 putting her trust in them they examine her and say she needs a surgery to remove the tumor and other than that she was healthy so they told her they would call her with appointment date and they didn't call her till the next week to tell her the appointment isn't till April 2nd mind you first appointment was on march 4th almost a whole month! So on March 17 my sister sees a decline in her dog and takes her dog back to this vet and they tell her the dog needs the surgery sooner and give her some antibiotics and heart meds and made the appointment for the 19th which was 2 days later mind you the tumor is as big as the dog at this point she is a Yorkie so she couldn't even walk anymore ! So on the 19 th she takes her back for her surgery and they did x-ray and took her blood and her blood count was low so they said she needed a blood transfusion to get the surgery so my sister ends up taking her to a emergency vet to get the transfusion and she coded before they got the transfusion .. They brought her back and at this point she had brain damage from the tumor taking so much blood she wasn't getting enough to her brain. The next day my sister had to make the decision to have her put to sleep and she died in my sister's arms 💔 . So after spending 859 dollars at the startown vet then 2,800 at the emergency hospital we are bringing our baby home in a urn. This wasn't just a dog this was part of our family for years. Its all about the money that's all they seem to care about

Customer reviews present serious concerns regarding the standard of care and communication at Startown Veterinary Hospital. One detailed account describes a pet owner's distressing experience with their 13-year-old Yorkie who had a rapidly growing tumor. The review highlights significant delays in scheduling surgery, a perceived lack of urgency in addressing the pet's declining condition, and ultimately the pet's death after the owner sought emergency care elsewhere. The reviewer spent a substantial amount at both Startown Veterinary Hospital and the emergency vet, concluding that the priority seemed to be financial rather than the pet's well-being.

Another extensive review echoes similar concerns about delayed care and a perceived failure to recognize the urgency of a pet's deteriorating health. This pet owner recounts multiple visits for a small Yorkshire terrier with a growing mass, alleging that critical interventions were not timely, and potentially vital information or referrals to emergency care were not provided promptly. The reviewer expresses feeling misinformed and holds both themselves and the veterinarian accountable for the tragic outcome where their pet passed away at an emergency vet after the situation became critical.

These detailed and highly critical reviews raise significant questions about the environment, services, and overall patient care at Startown Veterinary Hospital. Information regarding any positive features or promotional offers is absent. Local users seeking veterinary care are strongly advised to carefully consider these experiences and potentially seek alternative options or conduct thorough due diligence before entrusting their pets' health to this facility.

Devastated! I’m not one for leaving Bad reviews at this time I’m choosing to do so. To chop this up in somewhat short terms My small Yorkshire terrier was First time patient, I had to make 3 trips in all to this vet. The first visit taking my baby in she was feeling well had great appetite very mobile , brought her in concerning a mass growth on abdomen was given the removal date over phone the following week after the first visit, the appointment was set too far out in my opinion. I had to go back soon after with concerns of blood spot on mass that had just surfaced was then told we just need to have it removed Sooner rather than later so then they conveniently have a cancellation two days later, Same day not long after visit had to message With concerns the mass was growing too quickly. Was then told they could prescribe me something to thicken the blood to slow down the process of swelling and if “ I felt” like it was an emergency to take her to the ER . Why not prescribe those medication’s prior to me leaving the office after she was just Seen is beyond me. Given the fact that he had seen her that day, you would think that he would’ve advised me that I get her to the ER so I’m thinking he didn’t seem too concerned about it upon seeing her that day so I Chose not to take her to the ER. Finally the day of the surgery at this point My baby is no longer eating and is weak. I am then told she has lost a lot Of blood that was pooling into the mass, her Red blood cells were to low to perform surgery and she was going to need an emergency blood transfusion was given over the phone several options of what I could do but none of the options were promising. my once lively, eating well mobile baby ended up having to be put down at the emergency vet! (Sparing the in between heartbreak details) I feel like I was miss informed issues weren’t handled in a timely manner being a certified veterinarian You would think when they look at the patient they would see when it’s an emergency to inform you to get them to the ER!! with that being said I hold myself and The Dr. that I put my trust for my baby’s health and best Interest into accountable. Can’t wrap my head around how fast my baby’s health declined and ultimately leading to demise 💔. I understand You can’t save them all & the reply back needing to protect your reputation. I was ill informed! not at one point was I told it was confirmed cancerous, I was told “after the mass was removed it was going to be sent off to see if it was.” so to say in the “replay back to me” comments, that my dog had cancer that’s falsification information there were no testing given to prove it was cancerous or not still yet to this day!!!!! I was told during the removal that it would be sent off to see if it was cancerous. That mass and her health was nowhere near severe when I brought her in! If it would have been removed it in a timely manner or it was suggested to have it removed at the ER would’ve been better for her then I would’ve proceeded with that and could’ve possibly saved her life! Is it possible that she wasn’t physically checked by the Dr. on the second Visit I brought her in, is why I wasn’t referred to an ER? the 2nd day I brought her in a nurse told me We needed to have it removed sooner rather than later and moved her appointment up to to a closer date. I did have to leave her there briefly that day and was told before leaving by a staff member when I was to return we were going to be sent to a room, when I came right back that didn’t happen. I get there and she’s ready to go with a nurse or staff member telling me the new removal date. Was she even seen by the Dr.? I feel surely if she had been, seeing the status of the mass that day given the knowledge that you have as a veterinarian you would’ve thought to suggest me to an ER, that it is an emergency, get her to the ER! “There was No cancer diagnosis Period!”

I finally found a Veterinarian Hospital that cares more about your furbaby than the dollar bill! I’ve been to so many veterinarians with my Yorkie than you can count trying to get good care. The staff is amazingly friendly and caring and listens to your needs when you call in for a concern or an appointment. The doctors are gentle and caring with your animal as they know they are like family to you. They go the extra mile to help their patients. My baby had to be put to sleep last week and the hurt, pain, and heartbreak was unreal. Startown staff nurses and doctor was nothing but compassionate and caring through the whole process. Today (1 week after my Tori passed away in my arms in their office) I received a card with my baby’s paw print and signed by everyone in their clinic. Now that was not only a surprise but it made me feel like me n my Tori really mattered. When I am ready to get a new puppy it will only go to Startown I hope nothing ever changes because I’d have to say out of all the vets I’ve been too they are the very best! Thank you Startown for your care and understanding you should all pat yourselves on the back.

We are new to this area and were recommended by a friend to this clinic. The staff were excellent and patient and very friendly. They took the time to listen and didn’t push our dog to get bloodwork when they saw he was scared and was ready to go home. Love that they are a fear free clinic which made our dog “Blue” aka Blueberry very happy!!! I highly recommend anyone who’s looking for a great place to take your pet, you will not be sorry!!!
