Took my dog in since he was hit by a FedEx truck. They informed me that he had no broken bones for the x-rays that they took. We started to leave with the dog and was informed that he should be OK by Monday. We took him to another vet and their x-rays showed that his pelvis was crushed. oh, by the way, when we were leaving, we were told that the x-rays were not available for us. Worst service I’ve ever had from a vet. I do not recommend this veterinarian and will be asking for a refund. They did not do their job.

The following information is based solely on the reviews provided by individuals who have sought veterinary care at this facility. It is crucial for local users to consider these experiences when making decisions about their pet's healthcare.
Two separate customer reviews detail similar and concerning experiences regarding the care provided to a dog that was hit by a vehicle. Both reviewers brought their injured dog to St James Veterinary Medical Center following this traumatic event. According to their accounts, despite the dog exhibiting signs of significant pain and an inability to use his back legs, there were issues with the diagnostic process and the initial assessment of the dog's condition.
One reviewer stated that St James Veterinary Medical Center took X-rays and informed them that the dog had no broken bones, suggesting he would be okay by the following Monday. However, upon seeking a second opinion at another veterinary hospital, subsequent X-rays revealed that the dog's pelvis was, in fact, crushed. This discrepancy raises serious concerns about the accuracy of the initial diagnosis at St James Veterinary Medical Center. Furthermore, this reviewer mentioned being told that the X-rays taken at St James Veterinary Medical Center were not available to them, which is also troubling.
The second reviewer corroborated this account, stating that they brought their dog in around 2:30 PM or 3:00 PM after the accident, but X-rays were not taken until approximately 8:00 AM the following morning – a significant delay for an animal obviously in distress. This reviewer also expressed the opinion that the X-rays taken at St James Veterinary Medical Center were not properly assessed, as the subsequent diagnosis at another facility (Sullivan Veterinary Hospital) immediately revealed a crushed pelvis and a herniated bladder. They further stated that they were advised to simply place a towel under the dog and have him walk to the car, despite his inability to feel his back legs and lack of bladder control. This pet owner also reported not yet receiving the X-rays from St James Veterinary Medical Center. Tragically, the dog's condition, as accurately diagnosed by the second veterinary hospital, led to the decision to euthanize him to alleviate his pain.
Given these reviews, it is challenging to objectively describe the typical environment, services, or features of St James Veterinary Medical Center in a positive light. The experiences shared raise significant concerns about the quality of diagnostic services, the timeliness of care, and the accuracy of assessments provided at this facility, at least in these particular cases.
Based solely on these two reviews, potential local users might infer the following about St James Veterinary Medical Center:
- They offer X-ray services for diagnostic purposes. However, the accuracy and interpretation of these X-rays have been called into serious question.
- There may be delays in providing diagnostic procedures, even when an animal presents with obvious signs of trauma.
- The communication of diagnostic findings to pet owners may be problematic, as indicated by the inability to obtain the initial X-rays.
- The initial assessment of a pet's condition might not always be accurate, potentially leading to a delay in appropriate treatment and the underestimation of severe injuries.
There is no information within these reviews to describe the general environment of the clinic, such as its cleanliness or comfort. Similarly, there is no mention of other services they may offer, such as routine check-ups, vaccinations, or surgical procedures. Furthermore, there is absolutely no promotional information present in these reviews.
In the interest of providing a comprehensive introduction as requested, it is important to acknowledge that these two reviews present a very negative perspective on the services received at St James Veterinary Medical Center in specific, critical situations. While these experiences may not be representative of all interactions at this Pet Hospital, they are significant and should be carefully considered by local pet owners seeking veterinary care.
Due to the severely negative nature of the only information available, it is impossible to recommend St James Veterinary Medical Center based on these accounts. Instead, this introduction serves as a presentation of the publicly available feedback, highlighting the serious concerns raised by these two pet owners regarding the care their injured dog received.
Local users are strongly encouraged to consider these accounts and potentially seek additional information or opinions before entrusting the health of their pets to St James Veterinary Medical Center. It would be prudent to inquire about their diagnostic procedures, the availability of test results, and their protocols for emergency situations.

Feb 14, 2025 · Matthew MiltonI brought my dog here after he had been hit by a fed ex truck. He was obviously in pain, but they waited until morning ti take x rays. I brought him in at around 2:30 / 3:00 pm and they did exrays around 8:00 the next morning. I honestly don't think they even looked at them because his pelvis was crushed and his bladder was herniated. They told us to put a towel under him and have him walk to the car. He couldn't feel his own back legs. He had no control of his bladder. I have yet to get their x rays. I brought him to sullivan veterinary hospital, and they immediately x rayed him and found the crushed pelvis, and we opted to put him down. He was in pain. DO NOT GO HERE.
Feb 14, 2025 · Ella MiltonI really like and trust the STJ Veterinary Medical Center. I think my cat is in good hands there, with two capable and caring vets, very helpful techs, and kind office staff. Thanks for being somewhere I know I can trust my cat is getting great care.
Jul 22, 2024 · AWe board both of our (crazy) puppies here and the staff is beyond wonderful. They’re patient and caring and always friendly in person and on the phone. They take great care of our dogs! When we go out of state or out of the country I don’t worry about them because I know they are taken care of and safe and that is priceless.
Feb 28, 2024 · Tabbii LynnI was very pleased with the service I received from this clinic. My puppy had a seizure, and we were very concerned. They got us in quick when they didn't have to since we were not clients. We will be bringing all our pets here from now on.
