I have been with St. Francis Animal Hospital many years. I have nothing against Dr. Shelton but her policies and her office manager need to be reviewed or removed. I had an appointment for my new puppy in which I was asked to put a $75.00 deposit down for the initial visit. No problem at all. I saw the vet and loved their new place and excited to be bringing the puppy there. My second follow up was a couple of weeks later on a Tuesday. Monday I called to ask if I could move her appointment to another day that week as I was ill and had an appointment to see my doctor on the same day. The office manager was so rude as to say they would be keeping the $75.00, I’d need to pay another deposit because I didn’t give enough notice of cancellation. She kept saying she was following their policies. Also said the doctor was going to be very upset that her appointment for the morning was canceled with no one to fill that spot. Again, I explained I had no control over this and I wished I could have given 48 hour notice but they were closed. There are circumstances that do arise and I feel that issues as mine should be considered. I have referred so many acquaintances to this veterinarian over the years and I hate that this individual who works there, and hung up on me as she said she had nothing further to say, has forced me to find another veterinarian. I have managed medical offices for many years and situations like this I would have instructed my employees to come to me with this concern to be reviewed. This office manager has no compassion for individuals. I no longer can recommend this practice any longer.

The feedback regarding St. Francis Animal Hospital presents a somewhat mixed perspective. One long-term client expressed disappointment with certain administrative policies and the conduct of the office manager. This review detailed an instance where a deposit for a new puppy's initial visit was required, which the client found reasonable. However, when the client needed to reschedule a follow-up appointment due to illness and insufficient notice was given (owing to the office being closed), the office manager reportedly insisted on retaining the deposit and requiring a new one. Mar 11, 2025 · Jan McIntire❤️🐶Best veterinarian ever. Animal loving. Experienced. Well-trained Kind. Compassionate. Intelligent. Level headed. Honest. Trustworthy. Straight forward. Won’t sell tests or services that are not needed. Will do their best to work with you within your budget for the very best health and outcome for your pet. Puts pets first. The suicide rate amongst veterinarians is very high because PEOPLE that own them are sometimes really awful. Veterinarians have incredibly hard jobs, probably even harder than pediatricians because NONE of their patients can talk. Reading these horrible reviews from mean people is heart wrenching. ANIMALS are God’s gifts to us. He put them here before us! We should learn a thing or two from them about how to treat people. Thank you for the good care you give our babies! 🐶❤️
Dec 17, 2024 · Jackie GreenJust read on their website that this vet mutilates cats for profit by performing declawing procedures on kittens so i wont be back ever again. My personal experience wasn't great anyway. Ended up taking my cat to san marco where he had emergency surgery to remove a blockage after st Francis sent us home. We were not even advised of the potential severity of the situation so when we declined testing it was not an educated decision because the vet acted like the cat was fine and we were overreacting. But thats not whay im here....I was looking into spay/neuter services for dogs and saw that they provide declawing and I cannot support that at all and I know many animal lovers would also want to be aware before supporting a vet practice that does this awful procedure which removes an entire joint in each toe, similar to amputating to the first knuckle on a human finger, and and can lead to long term pain when walking for the cat. This procedure is banned in many states for being inhumane. I cannot believe vets are still doing this in 2024. Cats have claws. If you can't tolerate the cats claws and work with them and provide them with appropriate places to scratch, you can't handle a cat and shouldn't get one. Period. There is absolutely NO excuse to mutilate an animal and cause them pain for the rest of their lifetime for our own convenience. Its totally cruel and a vet who cares about the animals they treat would not want to cause lifelong pain for the cat. That's disgusting and I hope they get with the times.
Nov 09, 2024 · Katherine BennettMy cat was diagnosed by them with a form of liver disease in very early stages. They refused to offer any further help other than loads of testing. I didn’t want to sit by and watch him decline rapidly because he is my best friend and deserves the help and extra mile. I would understand if there was nothing they can do, but at that point they were catching it early. I took him to another vet and they immediately started medication and a feeding tube and when they tried to acquire the testing records from Saint Francis, they ignored me and my vet and wouldn’t send them over until confronted with the legal issues. If I stayed with their care my cat would be dead. But no thanks to them he is alive and thriving and I will always warn people to not bring their animals here.
Sep 03, 2024 · anna schellMy dog had horrible digestion problems and skin issues. He also doesn't do well at the vets normally. The team was very patient and professional with him. I can't recommend this place enough.
