I have been bringing both of my kitties here since they were kittens 6 years ago! Recently one of them became pretty sick and Dr. Pirtle took the time to talk to me on the phone about it and when i brought her in he gave her meds and ran some tests and she was better within days. They have also had small issues in the past that have always been cared for and treated perfectly. I recently moved out of perry county, but i still make the drive with my kitties so they can come to see him.

Information regarding the specific environment of St Francis Animal Hospital is not detailed in the provided text. However, we can glean some insights from the customer reviews regarding their experiences with the clinic. One long-term customer, who has been bringing their cats to the hospital for six years, mentions positive experiences, suggesting a comfortable and reliable setting for routine care. This customer specifically praised Dr. Pirtle for taking the time to discuss their sick cat over the phone, providing medication and running tests that led to the cat's recovery within days. They also noted that past small issues had always been "cared for and treated perfectly," indicating a history of satisfactory medical attention. This positive feedback suggests that for regular veterinary needs, St Francis Animal Hospital has provided a level of care that has earned the trust and loyalty of some pet owners, even to the point of continuing to travel from outside the county.
As a Pet Hospital, St Francis Animal Hospital likely offers a range of veterinary services. The positive review mentions diagnosis, medication administration, and testing, indicating capability in these areas. The fact that the long-term client brought their kittens there from a young age suggests they also provide preventative care. However, another review presents a contrasting experience regarding the hospital's capacity to handle urgent situations. This customer, whose ten-week-old puppy was diagnosed with parvo at an emergency room (Lakeside), sought continued care at St Francis Animal Hospital, where they had taken all their pets previously. They reported that St Francis Animal Hospital would not take the puppy in, stating they were booked for two weeks and would not attempt to fit the puppy in, despite knowing the puppy needed help and the owner's desire to keep their business local. This account raises questions about the hospital's policies regarding accepting new patients or handling urgent cases when their schedule is full. It suggests that while they may provide good care under normal circumstances, their capacity or willingness to accommodate urgent needs might be limited.
In terms of features, the positive review highlights the attentiveness of Dr. Pirtle, who took the time for a phone consultation and provided effective treatment. The long-term patronage also suggests reliability in managing the health of pets over time. However, the negative review points to a potential limitation in their ability or willingness to accommodate urgent cases, even for existing clients. This customer perceived a lack of concern for a pet in distress due to being fully booked. This contrasting feedback makes it challenging to definitively characterize the features of St Francis Animal Hospital without acknowledging both positive experiences with routine care and a negative experience regarding urgent intake.
Currently, there is no promotional information available for St Francis Animal Hospital in the provided text. Therefore, we cannot comment on any special offers or promotions they might be running.
In conclusion, St Francis Animal Hospital in Du Quoin, IL, has received mixed feedback in the provided reviews. One long-term customer reports consistently excellent care for their cats over six years, praising Dr. Pirtle's attentiveness and effective treatment. However, another recent customer expressed significant disappointment when the hospital allegedly refused to take in their seriously ill puppy, citing being fully booked for two weeks, even though they were a previous long-term client wishing to keep their business local. This suggests that while some pet owners have had positive experiences with the care provided, there may be limitations in their capacity to handle urgent cases or accommodate existing clients during busy periods. Local users considering St Francis Animal Hospital should be aware of these differing experiences. For routine care, the hospital appears to have provided satisfactory service to some. However, for urgent needs, it might be prudent to inquire about their current capacity and policies. We encourage local users to contact St Francis Animal Hospital at (618) 542-8924 to discuss their pet's specific needs and understand their current availability and approach to different types of cases.

May 15, 2024 · Jordyn WBeen taking my animals there for years and we now have a 10 week old puppy. That's got parvo, so we've had her at the emergency room in Lakeside.Which is phenomenal everybody. They are excellent. The problem now is they don't have overnight stay so I called Saint Francis animal hospital where I've taken all my pets and they would not take her in knowing that she needs the help and knowing that we want to keep our business local. They said they were booked for 2 weeks. And wasnt even gonna try to fit her in. So now we're up a Creek without a paddle. I did not know Saint Francis.Animal hospital operated that way. I thought when there was a pet in distress that they would take it in and get it back on the mend if it was possible I didn't know that was not the case. Just when it come down to not making room or the time and that's fine. We're going somewhere else. From now on we'll be going to Doctor Speers, in Carbondale, their excellent.Their staff is very welcoming understanding and they do make room for your pet. We will be giving them at Speers Animal Hospital all of our 5 dogs and 1 cat. Never been treated with such respect and they are easy to work with... for all your pet needs . And if they can't take care of your pet then they will find someone to help you. They don't leave you high and dry. I have never seen such disconcern from a vet like we have from St. Francis Animal Hospital ... not a very helping place for the community.

Nov 07, 2023 · Lacey Jones10 years ago I took in a new kitten and within 2 weeks she was near death. Dr. Pirtle diagnosed her with FIV and was able to give her the care needed to bring her back from the brink of death. Now that she is older she has digestive issues, due to the FIV, and she requires 2 shots every 6-8 weeks. When my cat shows signs that she needs the shots, I call and Savannah and Dr. Pirtle always get me an appointment immediately. Both of them are so caring and wonderful to deal with.
