Welcome to Springville Veterinary Services Large Animals

Springville Veterinary Services Large Animals, located at 344 W Main St, Springville, NY 14141, USA, stands out as a specialized veterinary practice within the broader "Pet Hospital" category. While the term "Pet Hospital" often conjures images of clinics catering to cats and dogs, this establishment specifically focuses on the unique and complex needs of large animals, primarily horses and other livestock. Contactable at (716) 592-0070, this clinic serves as a vital resource for farmers, equestrians, and owners of large animals in Springville and the surrounding rural communities, providing expert medical care tailored to these magnificent creatures.

The environment at Springville Veterinary Services Large Animals is distinctly different from a typical small animal clinic. Instead of a traditional waiting room filled with leashed pets, the 'environment' often extends to the very farms and stables where these animals reside. While there may be an office or clinic base at the address, a significant portion of their work involves on-site visits to client properties, where examinations, treatments, and procedures are carried out in the animal's familiar surroundings. This mobile and adaptable approach is essential for large animal veterinary care, minimizing stress for the animals and ensuring convenience for their owners. The physical clinic location likely serves as a hub for administrative tasks, diagnostic equipment that may not be portable, and potentially a facility for more intensive or specialized treatments that require a controlled environment. However, the overarching environmental characteristic is the ability to bring veterinary care directly to the large animals themselves, adapting to the diverse settings of farms, pastures, and equestrian facilities.

The services offered by Springville Veterinary Services Large Animals are comprehensive and specifically designed for the needs of horses, cattle, and other farm animals. This includes routine preventative care, which is crucial for maintaining the health of valuable livestock and athletic horses. Preventative services often encompass vaccinations, deworming protocols, and routine health check-ups tailored to the specific species and their use (e.g., performance horses, breeding stock, dairy cows). The veterinarians provide expert advice on nutrition, herd health management, and biosecurity, essential for preventing disease outbreaks in larger animal populations.

Beyond preventative care, the clinic offers a wide range of diagnostic services. This can include on-site examinations, blood testing, fecal analysis, and potentially portable ultrasound or X-ray equipment for immediate assessment of injuries or internal conditions in the field. They also provide medical treatment for various conditions, including lameness, respiratory issues, digestive problems (like colic in horses), and infectious diseases. Surgical services may also be offered, ranging from routine procedures (e.g., castrations) to more complex field surgeries, or referrals to specialized surgical facilities if needed. Reproductive services, such as breeding soundness exams, artificial insemination, and pregnancy diagnosis, are also common for large animal practices.

A significant aspect of their service offering is emergency response. Given the size and value of their patients, and the potential for rapid onset of serious conditions, quick and efficient emergency veterinary care is paramount. Clients rely on this clinic for prompt assistance with injuries, colics, birthing difficulties, and other urgent medical situations that can arise with large animals.

A key feature of Springville Veterinary Services Large Animals, as strongly highlighted by customer reviews, is the exceptional quality of its veterinarians, particularly Dr. Joe. Clients consistently praise Dr. Joe for his expertise, kindness, and compassion. These qualities are crucial when dealing with large animals, where a calm demeanor and deep understanding of animal behavior are as important as medical knowledge. The personal connection and trust built between the veterinarian and the animal owner are clearly a defining characteristic. Clients express immense satisfaction with his care for their horses, often stating they wouldn't want anyone else to care for their animals. This level of dedication fosters strong client loyalty and speaks volumes about the quality of care provided.

Another prominent feature is the practice's approachability and friendliness. Reviews mention that "everyone is super friendly and helpful" every time they call. This indicates a positive client experience from the very first point of contact, making it easier for owners to seek help for their animals. The clinic's commitment to being "helpful" suggests they are not just providing medical services but also offering guidance and support to large animal owners, who often manage complex care routines.

Promotional information for Springville Veterinary Services Large Animals would likely emphasize these core strengths. Marketing materials would highlight their specialized focus on large animals, differentiating them from small animal clinics and clearly communicating their expertise in equine and livestock medicine. Testimonials from satisfied clients, specifically mentioning Dr. Joe's compassionate and effective care for horses, would be prominently featured to build trust and attract new clients. The clinic would likely promote its ability to provide on-site services, showcasing the convenience and reduced stress for animals. They might also highlight their emergency services, assuring clients that help is available when critical situations arise. Emphasizing reasonable prices, as noted in a review, would also be a key promotional point, especially for farm owners managing multiple animals. Overall, the clinic's promotions would focus on its role as a dedicated, expert, and compassionate partner in the health management of large animals within the Springville community, stressing the blend of professional medical care with a deeply caring approach.

My miniature Horse couldn't get up. The vet came and told me all I had to do to make her better so I took his advice right away and my horse is back in good standing.

I wish I could give them zero stars. My horse was having some health issues that were unresolved but I was working on treating. I was visited with the plan to get vaccines and talking about her condition and we decided to draw blood instead of getting the vaccines on April 20th. I drove the blood to their office that day in order to get results quickly. By the following Wednesday I had not heard from them so I called in the morning and was informed that the bloodwork results were in but I needed a vet to read me the results. I was told that Dr. Joe would call me by the end of the day. He did not. When I called the next morning I was told he would call me by the end of the day. He once again did not. I called again at the end of the day and was told I would get a call. I did not. On Friday (4/28) in the late morning or early afternoon I called again after not hearing once again and it was agreed that the bloodwork would be emailed to me. I got it and realized that only the hematology report was there and that the rest was missing. I emailed back and did not get a response. The next week the owner of my barn called and was told there was an error on the rest of the results. This was never properly communicated to me. At the point, 5/3, Dr. Joe finally calls me and leaves a voicemail. I called back and left a voicemail with all of the information that I had, and stated that I would be using a new vet. I am now getting invoices for services that were never done to my horse and for the bloodwork results I never received. I am lucky my horse is okay, because if something serious was going on their negligence could have killed her. From what I have heard from other horse owners and my own experience, this practice has gone downhill and is no longer a reliable or responsible source of veterinary care.

I wish I could give 0 stars. When I first used them things where great always did their best. But after an incident I quickly learned that the vets and staff like talk andnrun their mouthes about people giving info that is confidential and should of never been spoken of. Sadly they showed they can not be trusted.
