We’ve been seeing this vet for about 5 years with our two dogs. Typically just annual visits and routine vaccinations. Two weeks ago, one of my dogs unexpectedly fractured his leg. We have received the best care since! It’s been an emotional whirlwind but the staff at Spring Valley West have been so supportive, attentive, and kind- Amanda in particular. She gives clear care instructions, patiently answers any questions I might have and helps me out to my car (I have two young children). Dr. Scott has been incredibly understanding and I’m very grateful for the care we’ve received.

Welcome to Spring Valley Veterinary Hospital - WEST
Welcome to Spring Valley Veterinary Hospital - WEST, a Pet Hospital located at 1634 W Elfindale St, Springfield, MO 65807, USA. You can reach them at (417) 895-9232 or their mobile number +1 417-895-9232. This introduction aims to provide local users with a detailed overview of the clinic based on publicly available customer reviews, covering aspects such as the environment, services, and features.
Based on the customer feedback, experiences at Spring Valley Veterinary Hospital - WEST appear to vary. One long-term client, who had been visiting for about five years for routine annual visits and vaccinations, did not offer specific comments about the environment but continued to use their services for those needs. However, another customer who experienced an emergency with their dog's fractured leg highlighted the supportive, attentive, and kind nature of the staff, particularly mentioning Amanda, who provided clear care instructions, patiently answered questions, and offered assistance. This suggests that in critical situations, certain staff members exhibit commendable care and support.
Conversely, another detailed review expressed significant frustrations. This customer reported a feeling of impersonal service due to the lack of direct interaction with the veterinarian, with communications primarily occurring through the front desk staff and vet techs. They also noted an instance where staff appeared indifferent to their distressed dog. Furthermore, this review described the front desk staff as sometimes seeming unapproachable and not proactive in scheduling follow-up appointments or providing reminder cards, contributing to a perception of disorganization.
The contrasting experiences suggest that while some staff members, like Amanda, are highly regarded for their attentiveness and support, there might be inconsistencies in the overall customer service experience, particularly concerning communication and proactiveness from the front desk.
From the customer reviews, we can infer that Spring Valley Veterinary Hospital - WEST offers a range of veterinary services, including:
- Routine Annual Visits and Vaccinations: As mentioned by a long-term client, these basic preventative care services are provided.
- Care for Injuries: The hospital attended to a dog with a fractured leg, indicating they handle more acute medical issues. This included diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care instructions.
- Medication and Aftercare Guidance: The staff provided clear instructions on how to care for a pet post-injury.
However, the reviews do not provide a comprehensive list of all services offered, such as surgeries, dental care, or specialized diagnostics. Potential clients may need to contact the clinic directly for a full list of their services.
Based on the customer feedback, some key features of Spring Valley Veterinary Hospital - WEST include:
- Supportive and Kind Staff (in some instances): As highlighted in the positive experience with the dog's leg fracture, certain staff members are described as supportive and kind.
- Attentive Care (in some instances): The attentiveness of staff, particularly in handling urgent situations, was noted positively.
However, the reviews also point out areas of concern:
- Lack of Direct Veterinarian Interaction: A significant point of frustration for one customer was the limited interaction with the actual veterinarian.
- Perceived High Costs: Compared to other clinics, the services were considered expensive by one reviewer, especially given the indirect interaction with the vet.
- Issues with Front Desk Staff: Concerns were raised about the front desk staff's lack of proactiveness, approachability, and instances of perceived indifference.
- Lack of Appointment Reminders: The infrequent provision of reminder cards was seen as a sign of disorganization.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Spring Valley Veterinary Hospital - WEST based on the provided reviews. However, the positive experience shared regarding the care for a fractured leg suggests that in certain medical situations, the clinic can provide supportive and attentive care.
For local users considering Spring Valley Veterinary Hospital - WEST, it's important to weigh the positive feedback about care during an injury against the concerns raised about the lack of direct veterinarian interaction, perceived higher costs, and issues with the front desk staff's communication and proactiveness.
If direct and regular communication with the veterinarian is a high priority for you, or if you are looking for a clinic known for its organized administrative processes like proactive appointment scheduling and reminders, you might want to inquire specifically about these aspects or consider other options in the area.
On the other hand, if your primary concern is the quality of medical care in the event of an injury or illness, the positive account of the supportive and attentive staff during such a time may be reassuring. It would be beneficial to perhaps speak with the clinic directly to understand their communication protocols with the veterinarians and their administrative practices to see if they align with your expectations.
In conclusion, Spring Valley Veterinary Hospital - WEST appears to have staff capable of providing supportive care during more serious health events. However, potential clients should be aware of the reported frustrations regarding indirect communication with the vet and the perceived service level relative to the cost, as well as the administrative concerns raised in the reviews. We recommend contacting the clinic to discuss your specific needs and to get a better sense of their current practices.

Apr 16, 2025 · Abri EfflandAfter several visits, we’ve decided to switch vets due to ongoing frustrations here. One major issue is that you never actually see the vet—interactions are solely with the front desk staff and vet techs, which makes it feel impersonal. This would be more understandable if the services weren’t so expensive compared to other clinics. One particularly upsetting experience was when our dog got his paw stuck in the front door. He was clearly distressed and crying, but none of the staff asked if he was okay—they just stared at us while I was already scared and embarrassed. It was disappointing and felt unkind. The front desk staff also tend to whisper to each other rather than being proactive or approachable. You always have to ask to schedule the next visit—they never suggest it on their own. Additionally, it’s rare to receive a reminder card for upcoming appointments, which adds to the disorganization. There was one vet tech we really liked, but unfortunately, we never caught her name. It’s a shame because that one positive interaction stood out amidst the otherwise lackluster experience with the front desk staff. We are highly educated people who are committed to giving our dog the best care and life possible. However, we often left this clinic feeling like bad pet owners rather than supported and reassured. That feeling alone was enough to make us reconsider where we take our dog for care. We’re hoping our new vet will provide a more caring and organized environment. We wouldn’t recommend this clinic based on our experiences.
Apr 02, 2025 · Madison Erin FamilyYou walk in and you're not bombarded with the smell like most vets I've been to. That's 5 stars for cleanliness alone. They are responsible on prices and are up front about the prices. They seem honest, knowledgeable, and professional. Can't ask for more.
May 08, 2025 · Daniel ShepherdI love this vet office. They are always so nice, both in person and over the phone. They are quick to schedule and quick to get exams and shots done. They also have complimentary snacks which is nice if it’s a busy day and a long ish wait! If you need a vet in springfield, i definitely recommend this one. They will make sure you and your pet are well taken care off, at an affordable price too!
May 01, 2025 · Courtney StroupAmazing service. Needed an emergency appointment on a Friday which my regular vet was unable to accommodate due to short notice. Spring Valley was able to see my dog within 30 minutes of calling, identified the problem, and provide required services. We’re home safe. Cannot praise the staff enough. Highly recommend!
