We visited this vet to prepare for an international flight with our cat. Even though we told them the exact flight date a month ago, they coordinated and scheduled the inappropriate date for our second visit to obtain the health certificate.—The health certificate needs to be issued within 10 days and endorsed by APHIS within 5 days of the travel. The endorsement takes 3 business days (which is a new information you don’t find on USDA’s website and something a USDA-accredited vet should explain), leaving a very narrow time window to have the cat’s health examined.— With the vet scheduling an inappropriate time for our second visit, we’re going to miss our international flight. There were also several other things, including their claim that the USDA Sacramento office being closed though it’s still operating and their refusal to provide us health certificate with the electronic signature instead of the original ink, that prevented us from acquiring the document in time. We lost more than $500 to the vet and $800 for the plane ticket as a result of this. Additionally, the clinic seems to have issues with communication between the doctor and other staffs. In our first visit to obtain the vaccination certificate, they first forgot to write the certificate for us. Then they gave us the certificate without the microchip number. Then they gave us the number but left all other pet information empty. All these information is required yet was missed out despite our requests beforehand on the phone and while discussing with the doctor. In general, I would not recommend this vet for anything important for your pet.

Welcome to Spring Valley Veterinary Clinic

Spring Valley Veterinary Clinic, located at 9973 Campo Rd, Spring Valley, CA 91977, provides veterinary care services to the local pet community. As part of the "Hospital" category, they offer a range of pet health services. However, customer reviews indicate significant concerns regarding their handling of international pet travel documentation and communication.

One customer experienced a major setback due to the clinic's incorrect scheduling of a crucial appointment for their cat's international flight. The clinic failed to adhere to the strict timeline required for health certificate issuance and USDA endorsement, resulting in the customer missing their flight and incurring substantial financial losses. The reviewer also cited communication issues, including misinformation about USDA office closures and a refusal to provide an electronically signed health certificate.

Furthermore, the reviewer reported multiple errors in their pet's vaccination certificate, including missing information and incorrect details, despite providing clear instructions. This indicates potential communication breakdowns between the veterinarian and staff.

However, there is a mention of a change in management. A review indicates "Under New Management. Debbie and Leslie are so very nice you will like them. Very Hands-On and helpful. Instructors are awesome." This indicates that there have been changes to the clinic, and that the new management is viewed positively.

Key concerns raised by customer reviews:

  • Incorrect scheduling of appointments for international pet travel.
  • Failure to adhere to strict timelines for health certificate issuance and USDA endorsement.
  • Misinformation regarding USDA office operations.
  • Refusal to provide electronically signed health certificates.
  • Errors and omissions in pet vaccination certificates.
  • Potential communication breakdowns between the veterinarian and staff.
  • New Management is in place.

Given the negative reviews regarding international travel documentation and communication issues, pet owners considering Spring Valley Veterinary Clinic should exercise caution, particularly for time-sensitive procedures. However, the mention of new management means that some of these issues may have been addressed. For appointments or inquiries, please contact them at (619) 660-1114 or +1 619-660-1114. Pet owners are advised to thoroughly discuss their needs and expectations with the clinic staff and to seek alternative options if necessary.

Love Dr Simpson and his staff. Saw Dr. Benavides today and she answered all my questions. Very highly recommended.

Kind and very knowledgeable staff and vets. The vets are conservative with care suggestions. They never "up-sell" products or services. Its all about your pet's quality of life . I never feel rushed. They take time to answer questions. I take my Belgian Tervurens here.

We've used this vet for over 20 years. The chief veterinarian always personally calls us with updates, test results, and any other pertinent info. Extremely friendly, professional yet has a deep compassion and empathy for an Ill pet or otherwise. I would highly recommend this vet. Side note, has a spiritual side to him which comforts my family and me. My relatives also use this vet because of all of the above! Prices are reasonable which reduces any anxiety over costs. We love you guys!! Attached is a photo of Precious Pennisi who you cared for although she's no longer with us. Thank you Dr. Simpson and staff for your ever present kindness and compassion!!
