I recently brought in my 17-year-old dashund, Baby, for a check-up and my 2-year-old tabby, Jones, for his annual exam at Southwood Valley Animal Hospital, and the experience was absolutely wonderful. The clinic is family-owned, and you can truly feel the warmth and care as soon as you walk in. Vet tech Sammy was so kind and gentle, helping make the whole visit smooth and stress-free. Practice manager Bianca was welcoming and helpful, keeping everything organized and making us feel like part of the family. Dr. Lauren was amazing with both pets. She was so gentle and patient with Baby, taking extra care with her since she’s a senior pup. And with Jones, she made the exam smooth and stress-free (which says a lot for a cat visit!). She answered all my questions thoroughly and never made the appointment feel rushed. The whole team clearly loves what they do and treats every pet like their own. I’m so grateful to have a place I can trust with my pets’ care. Highly recommend Southwood Valley Animal Hospital for anyone looking for compassionate, knowledgeable, and truly dedicated veterinary care for your furry family member. Don’t sleep on this place!

I brought my dog here for a second quote on a mass removal after seeing positive reviews online. A few days before her appointment, she started getting sick. At the appointment we prioritized her current illness over the mass removal. They did an ultrasound and found fluid in her kidneys and took a blood/urine test to send to the lab. This appointment was on Wednesday 3/5. They said we could most likely expect test results by EOW. We went home and my dog began to get worse. I emailed Friday morning, I called later that morning after no email response, I was told the vet was OOO and they were still waiting for the test results. I emailed first thing Monday morning, called after no email response, they said that although they did have the test results, the vet was OOO again and would call "sometime this week" with the test results, "possibly tomorrow at the earliest." I grew more concerned for my dog's health and called again on Monday to request the test results be sent to our local vet. I was told they could "most likely" send the test that same day. Upon receipt, our local vet called us immediately to say that the test results were very bad and I needed to take my dog to the ER right away. On the way to the ER I called Southwood again to request the test results be emailed to me. They were sent without delay. A first look and a very quick google told me that she was in extreme kidney failure. The vet from Southwood Valley did not call with the results until Tuesday 3/11. We were on the way to take her to be put down. I spoke to the vet later that week; she initially told me that they did not receive the test results until Saturday after our appointment. She called another day to say she found that they actually received the results on Friday. There were lots of things that should have been handled much differently. The vet assured me that policies in their office would be corrected. I hope this never happens to anyone else. We will not be returning.

Very nice people. My dog went in shaking but left happy! They were very good with our dog. I would definitely recommend this veterinarian. Thank you Dr Justin!

My dog got into a fight and was left with a nasty bite on his head that formed an abscess. I typically go to a retail pet hospital, but they quoted me nearly $700 at LEAST to treat him. I paid less than a fifth of that at Southwood Valley, including medications, cleaning, initial appointment cost. They took such great care of my little guy, and I am so grateful I found them. He healed up just fine, all thanks to them. Will definitely come again in the future!
