I want to Dr J. Steurer for his honesty with me regarding my came corsa. My dog has dysplasia, praying he can still live a long pain free life. I explained to the Dr my dog has his brothers(my other 2 dogs)that he plays very well with. You wouldn't know he had a problem watching him play. The Dr Steurer could've sold me anything, he did not. He simply said 'if your dog is active not limping(I won't do surgery on him). It's nothing you won't do for your dogs, even go broke! The Dr. Could've ask to do different test, he didn't. I appreciate you Dr. Thank you! I will return.

Jan 15, 2025 · lydia robinsonAny surgery involving my much loved pitbull Daisy makes me inordinately nervous. Recently Daisy was diagnosed with several unidentifiable masses around her spleen, and it appeared as if one had already bled out some internally. Dr. Beaver, over at AZ Vet Oncology, recommended a splenectomy as soon as possible. The team at Southwest Veterinary Surgical were able to get us in within a few days. Their team was compassionate, competent, and communicated regularly with us. All characteristics that I GREATLY appreciated. They stayed in contact with me the whole day Daisy was admitted for surgery. And after surgery, while she had to be kept overnight for observation, they night nurse sent us an update with photos - they set up Bluey cartoons for Daisy to watch and keep her company. I am so grateful for the great care my dog received at Southwest Veterinary Surgical!
Sep 26, 2024 · Megan MarohnAll of the staff that I encountered for Penny's visit were kind, compassionate and very sweet with her. I appreciate how thorough all of the staff was. Penny's TPLO surgery went perfectly, and she is back to regular activities!
Aug 11, 2024 · Randi NajacHuge thank you to the whole team! Tana was diagnosed with a thyroid tumor in January. Dr. Sullivan agreed to try and remove it, which happened quickly after our diagnosis and with great success!! Tana has since healed up beautifully and has gone on to win several scent detection competition classes and we are gearing up to do a large national event in a few weeks! She’s feeling great and hopefully we get a long time before having to deal with this cancer again.
Apr 02, 2024 · Aleks WoodroffeWe took our dog to Southwest Veterinary in Tucson for x-rays and a neuter, as our vet recommended combining these procedures to avoid sedating him twice due to his anxiety and issues with walking. The clinic, highly recommended, discovered our dog needed bilateral knee surgery and possibly hip surgery for hip dysplasia. However, they did not perform the neuter, citing time constraints. My husband and I, during separate conversations with the vet, inquired whether the surgeries would significantly improve our dog’s quality of life. We were concerned about the stress of multiple surgeries, as the vet recommended against performing both knee surgeries simultaneously. Additionally, we were only assured that the surgery “could” help, which left us uneasy about the repeated sedation and potential benefits. Despite expressing no financial concerns, the vet mentioned understanding financial constraints and decided against performing the surgeries due to our lack of confidence in the outcome. This lack of assurance, combined with my husband’s previous experience of losing a dog under sedation, made us hesitant. The examination itself left our dog in discomfort for up to two weeks. Ultimately, the surgeon refused to treat our dog, requiring us to seek another provider which will subject our dog to another sedation and exam. The exam is actually a very painful process for the dogs which left him almost immobile for a week. The surgeon later claimed a 90% success rate on a google review response to my husband for the surgeries, a statement that contradicts the only assurance we received, which was that the surgery “could” help. Given the uncertainty and the difficulty of the decision, we found it disheartening and could not proceed with the surgeries under these circumstances.
