This used to be a great place with great vets that we would bring all of our animals to. We have a lot of pets. With the passing of one doctor and with Dr. Drake leaving and reducing her hours with 1 foot out the door, the practice approach and level of care in my opinion from what I have seen is taking a turn south ward. It used to be that you could bring any pet regardless of condition, regardless of whether they were pretty and fluffy and sweet or not, and you would expect to receive exceptional care. My most recent experience was anything but this. With the new lead doctor taking over for Dr. Drake, it appears this is now a place that really only wants to cater as a boutique facility, with the equivalent of hanging a “no vagrants welcome” sign. Imagine if a hospital turned away or turned their noses up at the homeless. This isn’t a matter of being able to pay or not, because trust me we have spent tens of thousands of dollars at this location. In a time of economic downturn where most people cannot afford even the most basic care for their pets, you would think that they would appreciate customers who are blessed with the ability to pay, and pay a lot. Instead, what you will receive with this new generation of providers at this location aside from dismissive vocal fry, will be having the opportunity to be spoken down to with a haughty tone and not considered, instead be dictated to, and if you do not agree, then you will be written off because they have not developed the maturity to understand that aside from their ego that this is a business, and it is the patients who bring in the money and should be considered. This is more a case of veterinarians, not wanting to treat strays, ferrels, anything that might get their hands, dirty, or cause them to actually put in additional effort. Vacations and turning people away do not pay bills. Eventually, it will catch up to them when people stop going to this location because they are not accommodating, flexible, and the simple way that they treat people. It’s becoming more and more difficult to find real veterinarians that aren’t looking for the quick cash by turning their facilities into glorified shot clinics. It’s a real shame because this location has ultrasounds and used to have the ability to do advanced diagnostics. But now, it’s operated by folks who don’t want to put in the effort, turn you away because your appointment was made late in the day and don’t feel like it, and give a visibly clear sign with turned up noses they want nothing to do with it, with disgusted looks on faces and visibly turned off from caring for pets who aren’t the sweet little fluffy things. I’ve honestly never seen a vet look at a pet disgusted before until my last visit. She even had the audacity to tell me that I was unprofessional after I asked for Dr. Drake instead , and because I asked her the hard questions that backed her into a corner and made her admit she had very little experience working with ferals. She made every excuse in the book not to care for the cat regardless of how much money I was willing to throw at it. I ended up bringing the cat to a different provider that had absolutely no problems treating it. Bring your pets here if you wish, but don’t expect anything real to happen if it isn’t a basic vaccination or spay/neuter. And if you deal with the homeless, stray, or feral populations, don’t bother coming here. You will not receive a welcome mat.

Horrible experience. They misdiagnosed my dog. This place is not competent in their work. We paid thousands of dollars for our dog to be checked out and to see if it had GDV because it is common in Great Danes, and for them to tell us no it was not that it was a foreign object inside his body. So they wanted us to do a 6,000 surgery which was overly priced. Took him to another vet to get a second opinion they opened him up and he had no foreign object and he had GDV. He was close to dieing had we of not brought him in the following day to another vet. We call them back the following day to try to get our money back from what they didn’t catch and misdiagnosed our dog only for the vet to tell us we’re all banned without explanation. The office manager is very unprofessional as she was rude to us in front of other clients at the front desk. I would NOT bring your pets here unless you want to be price gauged and have your animal misdiagnosed. Horrible customer service and the veterinarian’s are not competent at all.

I’ve been a client of Southpaw Animal Health for the past 16 years, so happy they were reccommended to me. They take time to explain everything to you… it’s clear they genuinely love animals!

The vets are good but the front desk is a mess. They are disorganized, they are always late for appointments and every time you call they put you on hold for a while. I made an appointment for my dog for a second shot and after I rescheduled my appointment they didn't tell me that they had to start the vaccine cycle over because the time limit for the second shot had expired. They waited for me to get there. Really? There is no respect for the client's time or money.
