Beyond amazing veterinarian care!!!! We struggled for almost 2 years with our dogs, allergies that after vet tried to prescribe us treatment after treatment with no avail. Everything seemed just to make our poor baby girl suffer more one quick visit to this doctor and everything was over … The doctor educated us on every bit of our dogs allergies, How do I identify them and what to do? When they show up. which allows us to take care of them when they arise in different ways Amazing amazing. Amazing Everyone there is so friendly and so kind and the prices are very reasonable

This commitment to a positive atmosphere is crucial for both pets and their human companions, helping to reduce anxiety often associated with veterinary visits. The location at the corner of Topanga Canyon and Ventura Blvd, right next to Chase Bank, makes it easy to find and access for residents in Woodland Hills and the surrounding areas. The hospital's mission statement emphasizes working as a team to provide "loving and professional service for all the cats and dogs in your family," indicating a patient- and client-centric approach. They also highlight their dedication to making medical recommendations a cooperative effort between the veterinary team and the pet owner, fostering a collaborative approach to pet health.
Southern California Veterinary Hospital & Animal Skin Clinic operates as a full-service animal hospital, equipped to handle both emergency cases and less urgent medical, surgical, and dental issues. Their veterinarians boast over 75 years of combined experience, covering a wide range of conditions and treatments for strictly dogs and cats. Some of their veterinarians are also specialists in canine and feline practice, enhancing the breadth and depth of their expertise.
The services offered are comprehensive and include, but are not limited to:
- General Wellness and Preventative Care: This covers routine check-ups, vaccinations, parasite control, and microchipping, which are fundamental for maintaining long-term pet health.
- Specialized Animal Skin Clinic Services: A key differentiating feature is their focus on dermatology and allergies. As highlighted by a positive customer review, they excel in diagnosing and educating owners about pet allergies, helping to identify triggers and effective management strategies. They utilize state-of-the-art technology to identify the cause of skin conditions and develop tailored treatment plans, which may include medications, supplements, topical creams, and even surgery.
- Diagnostic Services: The hospital provides essential diagnostic tools such as in-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams) and imaging services like radiography (X-rays) to accurately diagnose various conditions.
- Surgical Procedures: They offer a range of surgical services, from routine procedures like spaying and neutering to more complex soft tissue surgeries.
- Dental Care: Comprehensive dental services are available, recognizing the importance of oral health in a pet's overall well-being.
- Emergency and Urgent Care: While they handle emergencies, it's important to note their operating hours are typically 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM on weekdays and 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), so critical after-hours emergencies might be referred to 24-hour facilities.
- Educational Resources: The clinic provides resources for pet owners to learn more about pet care, including articles and information, promoting informed pet ownership.
A significant feature of Southern California Veterinary Hospital & Animal Skin Clinic is its specialized focus on pet allergies and dermatology, as explicitly mentioned in its name and echoed in customer feedback. This specialization is a major draw for pet owners whose animals suffer from persistent or severe skin issues that other general practitioners may have struggled to resolve. The positive review praising their ability to quickly resolve a two-year allergy struggle highlights this expertise and their commitment to client education, enabling owners to better manage their pets' conditions at home.
Another strong feature emphasized by reviews is the friendly and kind nature of the staff, with one client stating, "Everyone there is so friendly and so kind and the prices are very reasonable." This indicates a welcoming and empathetic approach to both pets and their owners, which contributes significantly to a positive overall experience. The mention of "reasonable prices" is also a notable promotional aspect, suggesting that the clinic strives to offer quality care at accessible rates.
However, it is crucial to present a balanced view based on all available information. One review, tragically, highlights a severe and concerning experience where a dog with long-standing symptoms of bad breath, poor eating, and frequent puking was reportedly not thoroughly checked for kidney issues despite multiple visits, ultimately leading to a diagnosis of stage 4 kidney failure and the pet's death. This review suggests a potential inconsistency in diagnostic thoroughness in specific cases, raising concerns about comprehensive internal medicine assessment. While this is one isolated review among others that are positive, it is an important piece of feedback for potential clients to consider when evaluating the clinic's services, especially for chronic or subtle symptoms.
From a promotional perspective, the clinic's specialized Animal Skin Clinic aspect is a unique selling proposition, attracting clients with dermatological concerns. The collective experience of their veterinarians and the commitment to personalized care also serve as strong promotional points. They also offer financial options like CareCredit and ScratchPay, which are valuable promotional tools that help make veterinary care more affordable and accessible to a wider range of pet owners by providing flexible payment plans. The availability of online booking and a mobile app through PetDesk for appointments, reminders, and prescription refills further enhances client convenience and promotes easy engagement with the clinic. Their extended hours during weekdays and weekend availability also serve as a strong draw for busy pet owners.
In conclusion, Southern California Veterinary Hospital & Animal Skin Clinic presents itself as a comprehensive Pet Hospital in Woodland Hills, CA, distinguished by its specialized Animal Skin Clinic. It offers a broad range of veterinary services, underpinned by experienced professionals and a commitment to a friendly and clean environment. While many clients praise their expertise in allergies and the kindness and affordability of their services, one critical review highlights a severe diagnostic oversight that led to a tragic outcome. This provides a mixed but objective picture for local users, emphasizing the clinic's strengths in dermatology and general care, while also acknowledging areas where client experiences have varied. Their accessibility through phone, mobile, and digital platforms, along with financial assistance options, aims to make quality veterinary care available to the community.

Jul 11, 2024 · Steven BillsMy dog was acting very off, so we took him to see the doctor, he examined him and sent him home, said his vitals were fine. He kept puking when we returned home. Took him back the next day, insisted we did a blood test, turns out he was in stage 4 kidney failure. Even worse, I had been taking my dog to them for over a year, complaining of his bad breath and poor eating, frequent puking, and he never thought to check his kidney. My dog is dead, I love him so much and miss him so much. He deserved better care.
Mar 09, 2025 · h3h3 ProductionsSo happy my husband and I decided to start taking our 2 year old German Shepherd here! She is usually very anxious going to a vet and gets stress colitis and at the other place she went to it will take awhile for them to calm her down even though she will be on her anxiety meds and they seemed scared of her, this place she is comfortable and loves Joseph! She is also a reactive dog so whenever she arrives they are very understanding and make sure she’s not around other dogs either! we will most definitely keep coming to this place for now on!!
