Everyone on the team is SO accommodating. They have always been willing to work with our incredibly busy and hectic schedules. I love that you can text them to schedule and ask questions and get a response usually within the hour/day. They have made our first experience as horse owners extremely easy and helped us with our "dumb" questions lol! Could not imagine a better service. They always let us know if they are running late so we can adjust. They offer so many services from dentistry to foaling, making it easy to schedule what you need. Cannot express enough how kind and helpful everyone on their team is. So glad we found them when we did! Thank you South Shore!!!

Welcome to South Shore Equine Clinic & Diagnostic Center
South Shore Equine Clinic & Diagnostic Center (SSEC), located at 151 Palmer Rd, Plympton, MA 02367, USA, is a highly regarded veterinary facility specializing exclusively in equine care. They can be contacted at (781) 585-2611 or via mobile at +1 781-585-2611. As an "Equine Pet Hospital," SSEC distinguishes itself by offering a comprehensive range of advanced diagnostic and treatment services specifically tailored to the unique needs of horses, ponies, and other equids, alongside exceptional client support and communication.
The environment at South Shore Equine Clinic & Diagnostic Center is implicitly designed for both advanced medical procedures and the comfort of large animals and their owners. While specific architectural details are not provided, an "Equine Clinic & Diagnostic Center" implies a substantial facility beyond a typical small animal clinic. This would likely include:
Dedicated Stabling and Handling Areas: Secure, safe, and comfortable stalls for horses requiring hospitalization, recovery, or extended diagnostics. Designated areas for safely handling and examining horses, such as stocks.
Advanced Diagnostic Suites: Given the "Diagnostic Center" in their name, they would possess state-of-the-art imaging capabilities, likely including digital radiography (X-ray), ultrasound, and potentially more advanced modalities like MRI or CT scans if it is a major referral center. Specific lameness evaluation areas, such as trot-up lanes and lunging rings, are also essential.
Surgical Facilities: A specialized surgical suite designed for equine anesthesia and large animal surgeries, complete with recovery rooms.
Laboratory: An in-house laboratory for rapid diagnostic testing, including blood work, urinalysis, and potentially specialized equine tests.
Client-Centric Spaces: While primarily focused on horses, the positive reviews about accommodating busy schedules and excellent communication suggest that the client experience is also a priority. This would translate to organized reception areas and efficient processes to minimize waiting times and facilitate communication.
The reviews also point to an operational environment that extends beyond the physical clinic. The ability to "text them to schedule and ask questions and get a response usually within the hour/day" indicates a highly efficient and modern communication system, adapting to the often-mobile and time-sensitive nature of horse ownership. Their proactive communication about running late also demonstrates respect for clients' time, contributing to a positive overall "environment" of professionalism and client care.
As a leading "Equine Clinic & Diagnostic Center," South Shore Equine Clinic & Diagnostic Center offers an extensive array of specialized veterinary services for horses. These commonly include, as suggested by the reviews and the nature of such a facility:
Comprehensive Wellness and Preventative Care: This forms the cornerstone of equine health, encompassing routine examinations, individualized vaccination programs based on risk assessment, strategic deworming protocols, and comprehensive nutritional counseling tailored to the horse's age, activity level, and specific needs. Health certificates and Coggins testing (for Equine Infectious Anemia) are also routine.
Advanced Diagnostic Services: This is a core strength indicated by the "Diagnostic Center" in their name. Services would include state-of-the-art digital radiography for detailed bone and joint imaging, high-resolution ultrasonography for soft tissue injuries (tendons, ligaments), internal organ assessment, and reproductive evaluations. They may also offer endoscopy (e.g., gastroscopy for ulcers, bronchoscopy for airway issues) and advanced lameness diagnostics.
Lameness Evaluation and Sports Medicine: A major focus for equine practices. This involves thorough examinations to diagnose the source of lameness, utilizing various diagnostic tests (flexion tests, nerve blocks, joint blocks) and advanced imaging. Sports medicine services may include therapeutic joint injections, regenerative therapies (e.g., PRP, IRAP, stem cell therapy), and rehabilitation programs for performance horses.
Equine Dentistry: Comprehensive dental care, including routine floating (filing sharp points), extractions, and addressing other oral pathologies using advanced dental tools, often including power floats for efficiency and comfort.
Reproductive Services: For breeding purposes, this can range from breeding soundness examinations for mares and stallions to artificial insemination, embryo transfer, pregnancy diagnosis, and comprehensive mare and foal care, including assistance with foaling and management of neonatal emergencies.
Surgical Services: Equipped for various equine surgical procedures, including elective surgeries (e.g., castrations, hernia repairs, mass removals) and potentially more complex emergency surgeries (such as for colic), with advanced anesthetic monitoring.
Internal Medicine: Diagnosis and management of a wide range of internal medical conditions, including colic, respiratory diseases, dermatological issues, endocrine disorders, and neurological conditions. This involves advanced diagnostics and treatment plans.
Emergency and Urgent Care: As implied by the need for timely responses, SSEC provides critical emergency services for severe injuries, acute illnesses (like severe colic or laminitis), and foaling emergencies, offering peace of mind to horse owners.
The customer reviews reveal several highly commendable features that distinguish South Shore Equine Clinic & Diagnostic Center:

Feb 22, 2023 · Val cDr. Buchanan has been the vet to our horses for a very long time. She is on point, very caring, communicates well, has great rapport with our horses and has a way of easing us through a tough situation. We feel so lucky to have found her and SSEC. The office staff are friendly, helpful and timely in getting info. Sherri has been my go to person for everything and she patiently listens to my long explanations and rapid fire questions, always answers the phone with "how can I brighten your day". The truth is knowing they are there and responsive is better than brightening my day, especially when one of the horses needs care. Check them out!
Dec 16, 2019 · Rising Hope FarmI attended an Open house here and the facility and the grounds are beautiful. It is a fascinating facility with all of the equipment needed to diagnose and treat your horse. The standing MRI and surgical suite were impressive. I did not even know there was an option of a standing MRI. The staff was so pleasant and knowledgeable. Sherri was so pleasant and you can tell the passion she has for her job and the horses the clinic cares for. I give it a 10 on all levels.
Dec 16, 2019 · TGrif_ GamingSouth Shore Equine has an awesome staff. Always attentive and personable. I had the misfortune of bringing a horse to their facility to be euthanized. Luckily a familiar face, Sarah W. Was there and made my experience alot easier. I definitely recommend them!! Thanks Sarah!!!
Dec 21, 2019 · wpbrighamI don’t have horses but have gotten medicine for my kitties. The stuff and doctors are great, but Sherri Schmidt does a great job at the front desk. She always greets you with a smile and if you call sherri is very polite and good customer service. If you leave a message Sherri always returns your call.
