We had been struggling with dog allergies for a few years now and SSD Vet Hospital has helped immensely. I was skeptical about trying a new vet at first but even at 6 months later the progress was clear. Now, 1 year later my dog is healthier and happier than ever. In 2021, my then 6-year-old lab mix started excessively licking her paws to the point of hair loss, bleeding, and skin infections. I was spending so much money on apoquel, antibiotics, tests, check ups, and other stuff that was messing with her stomach. I could not leave her alone or she'd start licking on the couch or bed leaving lick spots everywhere. We thought it was environmental allergy as it all started as soon as we moved to new apartments with lots of greenery. Other vets didn't care too much about the source and wanted to mask the symptoms. We even tried apoquel and citopoint injections together to reduce itchiness but nothing worked until we went to South SD Vet Hospital and considered a homeopathic approach. They're all so nice and always answer my questions. They have saved me thousands of dollars in unecessary medication and can clearly tell my dog is much happier and excited for the meals I make her. Sometimes it's hard to get appointments.

Based on the available customer reviews, this veterinary hospital appears to be a valuable resource for addressing a range of pet health concerns, from chronic allergies to acute injuries.

One of the recurring themes in the positive reviews is the hospital's success in treating challenging conditions, particularly dog allergies. One pet owner shared their years-long struggle with their dog's allergies, expressing initial skepticism about trying a new veterinarian. However, they reported significant improvement within six months and noted that, a year later, their dog was "healthier and happier than ever" thanks to the care received at South San Diego Veterinary Hospital. This testament to the hospital's effectiveness in managing chronic issues can be reassuring for owners facing similar difficulties.

Another detailed account further illustrates the hospital's dedication to finding the root cause of health problems rather than just masking symptoms. This pet owner's lab mix suffered from excessive paw licking leading to hair loss, bleeding, and skin infections. Despite spending considerable money on conventional treatments like apoquel and antibiotics from other veterinarians, the underlying issue persisted. The owner praised South San Diego Veterinary Hospital for considering a "homeopathic approach" after previous vets seemed primarily focused on symptomatic relief. This willingness to explore alternative treatment modalities suggests a holistic approach to pet care, potentially offering solutions for cases where conventional medicine alone has been insufficient.

The same reviewer also highlighted the compassionate and communicative nature of the staff, stating, "They're all so nice and always answer my questions." This emphasis on clear communication and a caring demeanor can significantly ease the stress associated with pet health concerns. The fact that this approach reportedly saved the owner "thousands of dollars in unnecessary medication" underscores the potential benefits of a thorough and thoughtful diagnostic process that aims to address the underlying cause of illness.

Furthermore, the positive impact on the pet's well-being was evident, with the owner noting that they "can clearly tell my dog is much happier and excited for the meals I make her." This holistic improvement, encompassing both physical health and overall demeanor, speaks volumes about the quality of care provided.

In a separate review, a pet owner recounted a stressful experience when their cat was attacked and developed a severe abscess. They expressed initial worries about the cost of treatment and potential judgment. Instead, they were met with a "super wonderful staff" who provided regular updates and reassurance. The staff's kindness extended to engaging in conversation with the owner's grandfather during the wait and even offering a surprise discount. This anecdote highlights the compassionate and empathetic environment of the hospital, where staff members go above and beyond to support both the pet and their owner during challenging times. The reviewer's appreciation for the staff being "genuinely nice and helpful" underscores the positive emotional experience alongside the medical care provided.

This suggests that the hospital may be in high demand, which could be a testament to the quality of care they provide. However, it also means that pet owners may need to plan ahead or be prepared for potential wait times when seeking appointments.

I can’t praise the people here enough. When my cat was attacked by a stray and developed a huge abscess on her cheek, I was so worried I wouldn’t be able to afford whatever treatment she’d need or that I’d be shamed for letting that happen to her at all. Instead the super wonderful staff kindly updated and reassured me every time I asked about her, they chatted with my grandpa while we waited, and even gave us a surprise “just because” discount after my grandpa jokingly asked for one. I love when people are genuinely nice and helpful, and everyone working here is

We've taken our dogs here for 20 years or so. We feel the doctors and staff really care about our babies. It's a long drive for us, but it remains worth the drive.

These Vet professionals are so kind and knowledgeable. They gave homemade treats to my 11 yr old pup while he waited anxiously. They were comforting and friendly and you could tell they were doing everything they could to quickly heal my dog who came in for (possible) ringworm. They worked with me very well! I will be coming back.

My Lucy had torn a toenail almost completely off and because it was bleeding it concerned me that it could get infected. They took her in and took care of her. I didn’t have to wait hours to find out what needed to be done as with other emergency veterinary hospitals. It was evening just before dark. An hour later she was ready to go home with me. I love the sweet sincerity of the Doctor and the staff
