My dog Lucy had to have dental surgery. She is almost 14 years old, and about 10 years ago she had dental surgery and her heart stopped for a few seconds while under anesthesia. My husband and I were very concerned about this surgery. Dr. Levine and his staff were so good with her, they took such great care of her, and they were very encouraging to us. We love Dr. Levine and his staff! We know Lucy is in good hands.

We strive to be more than just a pet hospital; we aim to be a partner in ensuring the lifelong health and happiness of your furry, scaled, and feathered family members.
One of the hallmarks of South Orange Animal Hospital is the compassionate and skilled care provided by Dr. Levine and his dedicated staff. The testimonials from our valued clients consistently highlight the team's exceptional ability to handle even the most delicate situations with expertise and empathy. One particularly touching review recounts the experience of Lucy, a nearly 14-year-old dog who required dental surgery. Due to a previous adverse reaction to anesthesia, where her heart stopped briefly, Lucy's owners were understandably very concerned about the procedure. Dr. Levine and his staff demonstrated remarkable care and attentiveness, providing not only excellent medical treatment but also significant emotional support and encouragement to Lucy's worried owners. This level of dedication and reassurance underscores the deep commitment to both the pet's well-being and the owner's peace of mind at South Orange Animal Hospital.
The environment at South Orange Animal Hospital is frequently described as warm and welcoming, setting it apart from the often sterile atmosphere of other veterinary facilities. Clients consistently express a feeling of comfort and ease when visiting, noting that it feels more akin to a "family business" than a large, impersonal conglomerate. This nurturing atmosphere is crucial in helping pets feel more relaxed and less anxious during their visits, ultimately contributing to a more positive healthcare experience. The genuine care and personal attention provided by the vets and staff foster a sense of trust and belonging for both pets and their owners.
For pet owners with multiple animals, consistency and a personal touch are highly valued. One long-term client shared their experience of bringing their cats to South Orange Animal Hospital for many years, emphasizing the consistently wonderful care their pets receive. The reviewer specifically noted the time the veterinarians spend with them, indicating a commitment to thorough consultations and addressing all concerns. This dedication to patient communication and individualized attention reflects the philosophy of building lasting relationships with clients and their pets.
The services offered at South Orange Animal Hospital are comprehensive and designed to address a wide range of your pet's healthcare needs. While the available reviews specifically mention dental surgery, including managing the complexities and risks associated with anesthesia in senior pets, it is evident that the hospital is equipped to handle various medical and surgical procedures. The successful management of Lucy's dental surgery, despite her prior anesthetic complication, suggests a high level of expertise in anesthesia protocols and patient monitoring, particularly for older and potentially higher-risk animals.
Given the positive feedback regarding dental care and the overall compassionate approach, it is reasonable to infer that South Orange Animal Hospital also provides other essential veterinary services. These likely include routine wellness examinations, vaccinations, parasite prevention, diagnostic testing, treatment for illnesses and injuries, and potentially other surgical procedures beyond dental work. The emphasis on thoroughness and the time spent with clients suggests a commitment to preventative care and early detection of health issues.
A significant feature highlighted by the reviews is the strong sense of trust and confidence that clients have in Dr. Levine and his staff. Knowing that their beloved pets are in "good hands" provides immense comfort to pet owners, especially when dealing with stressful situations such as surgery or illness. This trust is built upon consistent delivery of excellent care, open communication, and a genuine love for animals.

Feb 05, 2025 · Donna DicksonI've been taking my cats to South Orange Animal Hospital for years. They consistently get wonderful care and the environment is warm and welcoming. It feels more like a family business than a sterile conglomerate and the time the vets spend with me reflects that. It feels like home!
Feb 19, 2025 · Judy SchwartzI’ve always had positive experiences here with the staff and the very knowledgeable and kind drs. They’re super gentle with the pets, and provide excellent service. I have two cats, and one dog. One of my cats is a little more sickly on occasion comparatively. I can be a little bit of a worried pet parent. But my feelings are always acknowledged and respected by the dr. They’re thorough, jot down notes and instructions, and are good with follow ups. They’re transparent with costs, and will provide you with upfront information if cost is a concern for you. It might be pricey, compared to locations in neighboring towns, but the price reflects the area pricing and the service feels worth the cost.
Feb 18, 2025 · Constanza CMDr. Chang was so great with our cat, Peanut. The appointment was effortless and Peanut is already feeling much better with the treatment prescribed. We also take our dog, Rooster, to SOAH and he is always just so excited to be there. The staff is so caring.
Aug 16, 2024 · Katie StangThe most caring vets around. They take care of 3 of our pets and we couldn't be happier. They accommodate same day emergencies, are reasonably priced, and have a great staff.
