Great experience. Fantastic with my dog. He was so comfortable there, that the vet remarked how low his heart rate was. That just shows you how at ease he was going through the door. I love these people. I would definitely recommend them to anyone that is looking for a new vet

The hospital prides itself on fostering a comfortable and caring environment where pets feel at ease, a testament to the compassionate approach of its entire team.

Environment: A Comforting and Professional Clinic Setting

As a traditional "Pet Hospital," South County Veterinary Hospital offers a dedicated physical facility designed to cater to the diverse needs of its animal patients. This environment typically includes a welcoming reception area, comfortable waiting spaces, multiple well-equipped examination rooms, and specialized areas for diagnostics, surgery, and possibly hospitalization. The clinic's interior is likely maintained with a focus on cleanliness, safety, and a calming atmosphere to help reduce stress for pets during their visits. The very positive customer reviews highlight how well pets respond to the environment and the staff, with one noting their dog's remarkably low heart rate, indicating how "at ease he was going through the door." This suggests a thoughtful layout and a compassionate approach from the moment a pet enters the building, creating a fear-reducing experience. The physical space allows for the utilization of advanced medical equipment necessary for modern veterinary practice, ensuring that a wide range of services can be performed on-site.

Services: Comprehensive Health Solutions for Pets

South County Veterinary Hospital provides an extensive array of veterinary services, addressing both preventive care and acute medical needs for pets. Their offerings are designed to support the lifelong health and well-being of dogs and cats. While a complete list of all services is not provided, based on its status as a "Pet Hospital" and common practices in such facilities, the services likely include:

  • Wellness & Preventative Care: This is the cornerstone of pet health, encompassing routine physical examinations, age-appropriate vaccinations (e.g., rabies, distemper, kennel cough for dogs; feline leukemia, FVRCP for cats), parasite prevention and control (fleas, ticks, heartworm, intestinal parasites), and nutritional counseling.
  • Diagnostic Services: Equipped to diagnose various conditions, they likely offer in-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams), as well as advanced imaging such as X-rays (radiography) and potentially ultrasound. These tools are crucial for accurately identifying health issues and guiding treatment plans.
  • Dental Care: Comprehensive dental services, including professional dental cleanings, scaling, polishing, and extractions, are essential for maintaining a pet's oral health and preventing systemic diseases linked to dental issues.
  • Surgical Procedures: As a full-service hospital, they would perform a range of surgical procedures, including routine spays and neuters, soft tissue surgeries (e.g., tumor removal, foreign body removal), and potentially some orthopedic procedures. Surgical services would include pre-anesthetic blood work, safe anesthesia monitoring, and post-operative pain management.
  • Medical Management of Illnesses: Diagnosis and treatment of various acute and chronic diseases, including dermatology, internal medicine, cardiology, and more.
  • Pain Management: Addressing and alleviating pain is a crucial aspect of modern veterinary care, especially for chronic conditions or post-surgical recovery.
  • Microchipping: Offering microchip implantation for permanent identification, a vital service for reuniting lost pets with their families.
  • Urgent and Emergency Care: While not a 24/7 emergency critical care facility, they likely accommodate urgent sick visits during their operational hours and can provide initial stabilization and referrals to specialized emergency hospitals for after-hours or highly complex cases.
  • Senior Pet Care: Tailored wellness plans and management for the unique health challenges faced by aging pets, focusing on comfort and quality of life.

This place is wonderful, staff and all. My family has always used this vet. I live further now, but I decided I'd rather make the extra drive and take my pets somewhere I know and trust. Always reliable, helpful, and genuinely caring.

We have been using South Count Vet since my first dog in 1980. We love Dr Otis, and the front staff and interns over the years has been friendly and accommodating. We have a new rescue and she’s very skiddish but warmed up to everyone on our recent visit.

They are "called" an animal hospital, but I walk in with a sick dog and they turn me away. They only take registered patients. Call yourselves a Veterinarian clinic if that's what you are, but turning away a sick dog when you're called an animal hospital is really upsetting and unprofessional.
