After submitting my application to adopt and after they confirmed with my vet that we take care of our pets, this humane society refused to allow me to adopt a MALE dog because I wouldn’t agree to neuter my MALE dog. Their standards are that ALL pets should be spayed or neutered. This place was made aware that my kids are grown and I was wanting to provide a loving home to a dog that had been severely mistreated by its previous owner. They would not respond to my email and they blocked me from their Facebook page after I went public with their standards.

Don't think you're going to get to adopt a dog even if you have been approved and an adoption date and time are scheduled. They will let someone else swoop in and adopt the dog and disregard everything you had scheduled. This happened to me today. I was scheduled to adopt a dog Friday evening. This was arranged yesterday (Monday). Today (Tuesday) people came to adopt another dog that they had applied for. They saw the dog I was adopting and wanted him too, so the foster let them adopt both, and to hell with me and my scheduled adoption. These people care about dogs, but they don't give a crap about people. If you schedule an adoption, don't expect to get the dog until it is in your hands.

Dennis and Joanne are the greatest. The sacrifice everything to help orphaned dogs and cats. The greatest they've done is they got with Gwinnett county sheriff Butch Conway and started operation second chance also known as the jail dogs program. This is where they partner rescue dogs with non violent inmates in jail. The foods get trained, the inmates learn a life lesson and it's too off donations and doesn't cost the taxpayers a penny!

Had a great experience adding a new family member here. Adopt don’t shop and thank you to the kind folks of the SOHFGA!

Adopted my Australian Shepard mix pup from Society of Humane Friends and am very thankful that they had much needed supplies for my pup. Saved me a trip to the store to get a collar for him. I highly recommend this place because the animals they have up for adoption are well cared for and spayed/neutered as well as microchipped.
