Took my cat to get blood work done. The nurse came in trying to charge me so many other extra things, and it makes you feel super pressured. I told them that when I called, I wasn't going to spay the cat at this clinic, and they misunderstood. I didn't even end up getting the blood work done because they said I should get it done closer to the appointment day for spay. Okay, thanks? But why let me know now and make me waste time and money? The doctor explained to me a lot more but wasn't super helpful in helping me give my cat a better balanced diet considering she is underweight.

Information regarding the specific environment of Small Animal Hospital is not detailed in the provided reviews. However, based on its designation as a small animal hospital, it likely includes standard features of a veterinary clinic. This would typically involve a reception and waiting area for pet owners, examination rooms where veterinarians can assess animals, and potentially areas for procedures such as surgery, dental work, and diagnostic imaging. The focus would be on creating a functional and clean space suitable for providing medical care to small animals like cats and dogs.

The services offered by Small Animal Hospital can be inferred to include general veterinary care for small animals. Based on the reviews, we can identify specific instances of services sought or discussed: blood work, spaying, and dietary advice. This suggests that they likely offer a broader range of services typically associated with a small animal 'Pet Hospital', such as:

  • Preventative Care: Including vaccinations, parasite control (fleas, ticks, heartworms), and wellness examinations.
  • Diagnostic Services: Such as blood work, and potentially other laboratory tests and imaging (like X-rays).
  • Surgical Procedures: Including spaying and neutering, as mentioned by one reviewer.
  • Medical Treatment: Addressing various illnesses and injuries in small animals.
  • Nutritional Counseling: Although one reviewer found the advice lacking, it indicates this service is at least offered.

Given the name "Small Animal Hospital," their primary focus would be on species like cats, dogs, rabbits, and other smaller pets.

Features of Small Animal Hospital, based on the customer feedback, present a mixed view:

  • Knowledgeable Doctor (partially): One reviewer mentioned the doctor explaining things, but not being particularly helpful with dietary advice.
  • Potentially Great Staff (in general): One review explicitly states, "The staff on the other hand is great!"

However, the reviews also highlight some significant concerns:

  • Perceived Pressure for Extra Charges: One reviewer felt pressured by a nurse to add on extra services during a blood work appointment.
  • Communication Issues: A misunderstanding occurred regarding a spay appointment and the timing of blood work.
  • Negative Experience with a Specific Veterinarian (Vet Lisa): One reviewer found Vet Lisa rude, condescending, and rough in handling cats, leading to the cat's aggression.

These mixed reviews suggest that while some aspects of the hospital, like the general staff, may be positive, there are notable areas of concern regarding communication, perceived upselling, and the handling of cats by at least one of the veterinarians.

There is no explicit promotional information provided in the text. Typically, a 'Pet Hospital' might promote itself through its website, local advertising, or by highlighting positive aspects of their services or staff. Given the mixed nature of the provided reviews, any potential self-promotion would need to address the concerns raised by customers to build trust with the local community.

For local users in Riverside, CA, Small Animal Hospital is a veterinary care provider for small animals. The reviews suggest that while some staff members are well-regarded, there are potential issues with communication, perceived pressure for additional charges, and negative experiences with at least one of the veterinarians, particularly concerning cat handling. If you are considering Small Animal Hospital for your pet's care, it would be prudent to weigh these customer experiences and perhaps seek clarification on their policies and the approach of their veterinarians, especially if you are a cat owner.

Vet Lisa doesn’t know to handle cats. She is very rude and condescending. I’ve taken my cat to other vets and he has never been aggressive. She is very rough when handling. The staff on the other hand is great!

Truly the best Vets in Riverside. Thank you for everything that you have done for my little furry best friend. You’re the best!

My last visit there was to put our old dog, Jake, down. They were very considerate about the level of emotions we were probably going through and talked us through every step of the process. Im very grateful for their professional yet caring way they helped us through this event

I've been a client for twenty years. The vets and staff have always provided excellent care for my cats. Everyone there has been very sensitive and thoughtful, whether for routine care or, as recently, when I had to make a difficult decision regarding one of my companions.
