Amazing all around. The staff is so sweet, patient, hard working, always smiling, helpful, and they care truly even if us animal parents can chat a lot lol. Dr. Z. is absolutely hands down the most amazing Dr. and person. I wish she was both a vet and pediatrician lol she is so detailed and through. She cares as if each of our animal babies were hers. We bring our two dogs here and we will never change. Amazing. Hate to write such amazing things because that means more people and animal babies going but it is only right to do so. Hands down a blessing to have them help us take care of our animal babies.

We tried to take our cat here yesterday and it was utter chaos. We had a 4pm appointment and at 430 had to ask what was going on. The poor young lady at the desk said they were behind but they would soon come and get my cat for samples. Samples? Of what? They never met me or the cat. Never asked if anything is wrong, but were going to take my furbaby for samples. As we were talking with the girl at the desk, an elderly lady came out to sit down. She had been there over 2 hours with her cats and was still waiting, just in an exam room. The lady did say the vet was good, but we decided to leave without being seen. Avoid.

This place is downright disgusting, outdated and awful. I've held my tongue long enough but my daughters friend works here. I ignorantly went here and it was like seeing her as a ghost. My daughter explained that they are encouraged to not speak to clients, just smile and nod while Dr. Z speaks. Their pay is menial, and the prices she charges are possibly the highest in the county. After hearing firsthand stories from employees I'm appalled and can easily say the standard of care at this facility are BELOW BELOW BELOW acceptable. Everything is falling apart. Even the "veterinarian" has poor husbandry from the animals she has in her exam rooms. Will NEVER return. And I encourage anyone reading this to look elsewhere.

IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET THEN STAY AWAY FROM THIS VET !! I have 2 kittens and was in need of a vet, so being new to the area, chose this clinic !!! Long story short….they both had tape worms and I was MORTIFIED when they administered their meds. It was ABUSE….i hate myself for not stopping them. I have NEVER seen a vet do a pet this way !! Our appointment that day was at 10:00 and we didn’t walk out of that place till 1:00….3 FULL HOURS I kept my babies in this dirty nasty veterinarian office !! The next day I brought them to Calera Animal Hospital !! Such a relief to find a clean clinic and a great vet that genuinely cares about your pet. Dr Ellison taught me how to administer the 4 different meds to my kittens with ZERO problems !! You would think that any vet would know how to administer meds to a cat….someone needs to give Dr Z, at Shelby Clinic, lessons !!

Dr Z and staff are very great and super caring. Dr Z has brought one of our babies out from the jaws of death and done wonders with 2 others. I HIGHLY recommend her to everyone!!!!
