My cat Lucky has been sick, not eating, and loosing weight. He had dental extractions at another vets office that got infected. The Sears Vet, Dr. Scott Amsel, and their entire staff worked on Lucky to find out he had an infection around the area of the previous tooth extraction. They worked on him for 2 days and I was relieved he received 5 medications and a special soft food diet to aid in his ability to chew his food. Dr Amsel was OUTSTANDING. He gave me several options to choose from moving forward for Lucky's continued care. The entire Sear's Vet staff were caring and extremely efficient in performing their tasks. Thank you for saving Lucky.

With decades of experience, they have built a reputation for providing advanced, professional care with a deeply compassionate touch, treating every pet as if it were their own.

A Welcoming and Healing Environment

The environment at Sears Veterinary Hospital is designed to be welcoming, comfortable, and conducive to healing for both pets and their families. Clients consistently praise the atmosphere for its warmth and efficiency, even during stressful times. As one reviewer highlighted, "From the medical staff to the front desk this is a group of people that truly care about animals and give outstanding care and love to them." This commitment to creating a positive experience is evident throughout the hospital. The facility is equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment technologies, housed within a setting that prioritizes the comfort of its animal patients. They aim to make visits as convenient and low-stress as possible, understanding the anxieties that can accompany a pet's illness or injury. Features like "Free-Range Kennels" (as listed on their website, likely indicating spacious or enriched kennels) and a "Relaxed Environment" further underscore their dedication to animal well-being during their stay.

Comprehensive Veterinary Services and In-House Pharmacy

Sears Veterinary Hospital offers a wide array of comprehensive veterinary services, catering to the diverse health needs of cats and dogs throughout their lives. As a "full-service animal hospital," they are equipped to handle everything from routine wellness to complex medical, surgical, and dental issues. Their integrated approach ensures that pets receive continuous and holistic care under one roof. Key services include:

  • Preventive Care: A cornerstone of their practice, including thorough wellness exams, tailored vaccination programs (including core and non-core vaccines), and robust parasite prevention and control strategies.
  • Diagnostic Services: State-of-the-art in-house laboratory capabilities for rapid and accurate results (including complete blood counts, chemistry panels, urinalysis, fecal testing), complemented by advanced imaging technologies such as digital X-rays and ultrasound. This allows for quick diagnosis and initiation of treatment, particularly crucial in urgent cases. They also utilize EKG for cardiac evaluations.
  • Dental Services: Comprehensive dental care, ranging from routine cleanings and prophylaxis to advanced dental extractions and management of oral diseases, recognizing the critical link between oral health and overall systemic well-being.
  • Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgery: A broad spectrum of surgical procedures, from routine spays and neuters to more complex soft tissue surgeries (e.g., mass removals, foreign body extractions, abdominal surgery) and certain orthopedic procedures. They also handle wound care and other surgical interventions.
  • Internal Medicine: Diagnosis and long-term management of various internal diseases affecting organ systems, such as diabetes (as seen with Lucky the cat), kidney disease, liver conditions, and more.
  • Emergency and Urgent Care: Providing emergency veterinary care for cats and dogs during their normal hospital hours. They are equipped to handle most urgent situations, and while it's recommended to call ahead, they strive to accommodate emergencies. For after-hours emergencies, they provide referrals to 24/7 emergency animal hospitals, ensuring continuous care.
  • Pain Management: Offering effective strategies to manage acute and chronic pain, enhancing the comfort and recovery of pets after surgery or due to ongoing conditions.
  • Nutritional Counseling: Guidance on appropriate diets and nutrition plans to support pet health, manage weight, and address specific medical needs.
  • Microchipping: A vital service for pet identification and recovery, increasing the chances of reuniting lost pets with their families.
  • Acupuncture: Indicating an integrative approach, they offer acupuncture for both dogs and cats, which can be beneficial for various conditions including pain management and chronic issues.
  • In-House Pharmacy: A critical component, Sears Veterinary Hospital maintains an in-house pharmacy. This means pet owners can conveniently obtain prescribed medications directly from the hospital, ensuring accuracy, proper storage, and immediate access to necessary treatments. This integrated pharmacy streamlines the care process, as the vets oversee prescription renewals and are already familiar with the pet's medical history, leading to coordinated and efficient medication management. They also offer an online store/pharmacy for refills and product purchases, with options for auto-ship and free shipping on certain orders, providing added convenience.
  • Overnight Care: For some veterinary emergencies, pets may require intensive overnight care, which Sears Veterinary Hospital provides. Their dedicated team continues to treat pets as their own during hospitalization.

I have been bringing my animals here for almost 10 years. I moved to Bakersfield but still make the drive to Lancaster so my dogs can get the best treatment available. From the medical staff to the front desk this is a group of people that truly care about animals and give outstanding care and love to them. I have one dog that we will say has a reputation of not being so nice with others but they understand her personality and what her limits are. Yet they still love her. Thank you Sears for all you do to provide a better quality of life to animals.

We have only been twice but, they are very knowledgeable and kind people. They treated my fur babies so nicely. It made me feel very comfortable. I highly recommend them. From the front office to the vet tech and of course Dr.Bones.

The people who work at this office are absolutely incredible! Kind, patient, understanding and amazing! We found a stray and needed some help so we called their sister vet who gave us their phone number and im so glad they did. Every person we’ve interacted with has been amazing. The techs, front office staff and Dr Bones are great. 10/10 would recommend. Thanks for caring so much about animals.
