Where to start... the care and compassion the entire staff showed me when I had to make the most horrible decision any pet parent has to make was beyond their job. Stump was my heart. Some say just a cat. But he was my world. Saying goodbye has gutted me. They went above and beyond to make it as peaceful and easy. Not only for him, but me. Right up to when I picked up his ashes. They generally care. Not only end of life care, but well visits. The staff and Dr Kyle are absolutely amazing. The cat distribution system glitched. I went from none to ...too many in a few months. No judgement. Just understanding. Actually the only vet I could find to take new patients. And they actually care. I can not recommend enough. Thank you from the bottom of my broken heart. Stumps mom ♡♡♡

The core strength of Scranton Animal Hospital lies in its deeply caring and professional staff. Reviews consistently highlight the team's genuine concern and understanding, not just for the animals but also for their human companions. Dr. Kyle is specifically mentioned as "absolutely amazing," and the entire staff is commended for their compassion and lack of judgment, particularly in situations like adopting multiple cats. The willingness to accept new patients, a challenge in many veterinary practices, further underscores their commitment to the community.
Clients are particularly grateful for the hospital's expertise with small and exotic pets. One reviewer explicitly stated, "My rabbits and guinea pigs are patients. So grateful for their expertise with small pets and help in keeping my furry family healthy!!" This specialized care is a significant advantage for owners of these often-underserved animal groups.
The sentiment, "They generally care," permeates the feedback, illustrating that the hospital's approach extends beyond medical procedures to truly valuing the bond between pets and their families. This level of personal connection fosters trust and loyalty, making Scranton Animal Hospital a preferred choice for many pet owners in the area. The longevity of their practice and the consistent positive feedback over many years, including "I've been taking my furbabies there for over 25 years!!", further validate their reputation.
Scranton Animal Hospital values its patients and clients and periodically offers specials on services and products, which can typically be found on their website or by calling them directly. They encourage clients to check their "Specials" page for different offers that can help save on veterinary costs. The hospital also accepts various payment options, including CareCredit, which provides a flexible way for pet owners to manage healthcare expenses. They are currently accepting new clients and invite prospective pet parents to call their office to set up an account and schedule an appointment. A non-refundable deposit may be required for new clients, which is credited towards their first visit. Payments for services are due at the time of service, and while billing or payment plans are not typically offered, they aim to provide clear estimates for procedures like spays, neuters, and dental work once a pet has been examined by a doctor. Feb 01, 2025 · Stephanie VogelsangI’m new to the area and needed a vet because my cat had tapeworms. I called this place early in the morning and they were able to get her in the same day. We got that issue resolved and then later on we set up an appt for my cat to get fixed. She was having an issue with bowel movements after the surgery so they were able to see her the same day I called. We got this resolved as well and they said she is healing and recovery nicely from the surgery. All of the staff are super nice, they actually care about your pet and they are so good with my cat. Dr. Keith Dorton is very nice as well, his demeanor is very calm which is helpful especially when you’re anxious about your pet being sick/hurt. I’m only living in the area temporarily but I will continue to bring my cat to this vet during my stay here in Scranton.
Dec 31, 2024 · Nina PhanthavadyThe BEST care in the area, this father/son team of Doctors, are the MOST competent, compassionate, and caring. They truly love what they do and excel at it. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Mar 14, 2025 · Lisa YantornI have my dog Oreo and I just inherited another dog by the name of Ace. Older dog my appointment by the phone for him was set for this monday and my wife walked in. The front desk person told my wife it was scheduled for next week. She just got up and walked away as if this was an inconvenience. You should have better representation at your receptionist area. Paying customers should not be brushed off as idiots or second class citizens. This experience is unfortunate as my dog oreo is a patient here. very disappointing indeed since i know i set it up for the earliest possible time and miscommunications may happen But that behavior from your staff is unacceptable.
