Welcome to Scott City Animal Clinic
Scott City Animal Clinic, located at 1904 Main St, Scott City, MO 63780, USA, serves as a prominent "Pet Hospital" dedicated to providing a wide array of veterinary services to the local community. The clinic can be reached at (573) 264-3455 or via mobile at +1 573-264-3455. This establishment positions itself as a comprehensive animal care provider, aiming to meet the diverse needs of pet owners in Scott City and the surrounding areas.
The term "Pet Hospital" accurately reflects the scope of services offered, indicating a facility capable of handling general veterinary practice, emergency and critical care, as well as specialized services. This suggests that the clinic is equipped not only for routine preventive measures but also for more complex medical and surgical interventions, embodying a full-service approach to animal health. Online information and reviews indicate they cater to a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, horses (equine), cattle, goats, deer, and small farm animals, making them a versatile option for diverse pet and livestock owners.
The environment at Scott City Animal Clinic elicits varied but strong reactions from its clientele. One highly positive review describes the staff as "beyond amazing at recommending, giving a warm welcome, and taking care of my cat." This suggests a generally friendly, empathetic, and supportive atmosphere, particularly for new pet owners or those facing their first significant veterinary experience. The clinic aims to provide a comfortable environment for both two-legged and four-legged clients, starting with a warm welcome and treats for pets, as noted on their website. This indicates a conscious effort to create a positive and reassuring experience for animals and their owners.
However, another review presents a contrasting experience, highlighting concerns about transparency and communication regarding services and costs. This review mentions issues with unauthorized vaccinations during a scheduled teeth cleaning, leading to a significant increase in the bill and a feeling of being misled. This suggests that while the clinic strives for a welcoming atmosphere, there might be inconsistencies in how treatment plans and associated costs are communicated to clients, leading to frustration for some. Despite this, the first review, and other general online feedback, frequently praises the staff's professionalism and care, indicating that positive experiences are also common.
Scott City Animal Clinic provides a robust range of veterinary services, addressing various aspects of pet health and well-being. These services align with the broad capabilities expected of a "Pet Hospital" and include:
- General Wellness and Preventive Care: This encompasses essential services like vaccinations (as mentioned in the reviews, though sometimes with communication issues), routine check-ups, and potentially parasite prevention. The clinic's stated commitment to keeping pets "current with shots" is a core component.
- Spay/Neutering: A key service mentioned, indicating their capability for common surgical procedures vital for pet health and population control.
- Wound Care: One review specifically highlights their ability to take "care of a wound I was not aware of," showcasing their diagnostic capabilities and immediate treatment for injuries.
- Diagnostics: Information from various online sources confirms that they offer advanced digital X-rays and allergy testing, crucial for accurate diagnosis of internal issues and conditions.
- Dental Care: Professional dental work, which may include cleaning or surgery, is listed among their services, as evidenced by the mention of a "teeth cleaning" appointment.
- Emergency and Urgent Care: The clinic states it has a veterinarian and personnel on duty six days a week trained and equipped to handle urgent care. They accept emergencies anytime during clinic hours and recommend calling ahead for advice. For after-hours emergencies, they provide recommendations to other emergency clinics, which is a responsible practice for a pet hospital.
- Large Animal and Equine Services: Beyond small companion animals, Scott City Animal Clinic extends its services to horses (equine), cattle, goats, deer, and small farm animals, making it a valuable resource for agricultural communities. This specialized care often includes general practice for large animals, and potentially emergency and critical care for them as well.
- Specialized Services: Their website indicates offerings such as breeding/reproduction services, C-sections, dermatology, and geriatric care, demonstrating a broad spectrum of medical attention for various life stages and specific conditions.
Scott City Animal Clinic boasts several features that contribute to its standing as a community veterinary provider:
- Compassionate Care: Numerous reviews praise the staff's caring nature and their treatment of animals with "beyond amazing care." The clinic emphasizes personalized, compassionate care for patients and their guardians, treating pets as their own.
- Affordable Pricing: One highly positive review enthusiastically states that "the prices blew my mind in such a good way," suggesting that many clients find their services to be cost-effective for the quality of care received. This affordability can be a significant advantage for pet owners.
- Prompt Updates and Communication: The clinic is commended for "giving people updates and great quality care," highlighting their commitment to keeping pet owners informed about their animal's condition and progress.
- Comprehensive Capabilities: From routine check-ups and vaccinations to emergency services, wound care, and specialized treatments for both small and large animals, the clinic offers a broad range of veterinary solutions.
- Client Education: Their mission statement emphasizes client education, aiming to partner with pet owners to keep pets healthy through good nutrition and exercise.
While explicit promotional offers like "new client discounts" are not detailed in the provided reviews, the clinic's reputation for affordability (as highlighted by a customer) serves as a significant form of promotion. The general sentiment that their prices are good for the quality of care acts as a powerful draw. Additionally, the clinic has partnered with Vetsource for an online pharmacy, allowing clients to order medications, food, and other products, which adds convenience and potentially cost savings through online ordering. They also accept payment solutions like CareCredit and Scratchpay for financing treatments, which can help manage unexpected veterinary costs.
However, prospective clients should be aware of the mixed feedback regarding communication about services and billing. One review points to a situation where services (vaccinations) were reportedly rendered without explicit consent or clear communication about the increased cost. This suggests that while overall pricing might be competitive, clients should proactively inquire about all proposed treatments and their associated costs before services are performed, particularly for non-emergency situations. Transparent communication about care plans and financial estimates is crucial for a positive client experience. It is always recommended to directly contact Scott City Animal Clinic at (573) 264-3455 to discuss specific needs, obtain detailed service information, and clarify any pricing concerns before an appointment.

Apr 25, 2025 · RobertUp until now I was happy with them. The March teeth cleaning is a scam to do more. They were told do not give my dog her vaccinations by me when I made the appointment, again when dropped off by someone else, who they said gave permission. They played the situation and lied. They've lost my business. They could have said we made a mistake. That est. 200 bill was 460. Not good business at all.
Mar 22, 2025 · Angela RainesDoctor Clayton was very kind and reassuring. My cat typically is nervous around men, but I think he could sense that the doctor was very much a cat person. He barely squirmed at all during his examination. The staff were all friendly and took my concerns seriously, it meant a lot. We’ll be back for sure!
Jan 27, 2025 · Spook Show1993This vet has so much compassion and great bedside manners. They have always given plenty of time when I have visited and I never feel rushed no matter how busy they are. Jeff has done so much for our animals, we are happy to have him.
