I recently brought my six-year-old Labrador Retriever, Kona, to the practice. He was lethargic and had stopped eating. Dr. Adrien quickly diagnosed my buddy and set him on a course to recovery. Kona would have died had the doctor not accurately diagnosed him. Within a couple of days, Kona was eating and playing. He is bright-eyed and thriving again! When we returned for a follow-up appointment the staff cheered his recovery. My dogs love going to the Sandwich Animal Hospital. The staff know them and love them. It's like going to your friend's house for an appointment. It's exactly like that!

Welcome to Sandwich Animal Hospital
Sandwich Animal Hospital, located at 477 Whiteface Rd, North Sandwich, NH 03259, USA, is a deeply cherished "Pet Hospital" that serves the local community with exceptional veterinary care. Under the dedicated leadership of Drs. Casey and Adrien Cloutier, this facility has cultivated a reputation for providing not just medical expertise, but also a profoundly compassionate and personalized approach to animal health. It stands as a vital resource for pet owners, offering a comprehensive range of services designed to ensure the well-being and longevity of beloved animal companions.
The environment at Sandwich Animal Hospital is consistently described by clients as exceptionally warm, welcoming, and even akin to "going to your friend's house for an appointment." This relaxed and friendly atmosphere is a deliberate effort by the staff and doctors to alleviate the stress often associated with veterinary visits, for both pets and their owners. The moment a pet walks through their doors, they are often met with recognition and genuine affection, as "the staff know them and love them." This personal touch creates a comforting and trusting space, which is particularly beneficial for anxious animals. The physical premises are undoubtedly clean and well-maintained, reflecting the high standards of care and professionalism upheld within the practice, but it's the human element – the caring interactions and familiar faces – that truly defines the hospital's welcoming environment.
Sandwich Animal Hospital provides a full spectrum of veterinary services, addressing a wide array of health needs for pets throughout their lives. Their comprehensive offerings include:
Preventative and Wellness Care: This forms the cornerstone of their practice, focusing on proactive health management. Services include routine physical examinations, tailored vaccination protocols, effective parasite prevention and control, and personalized nutritional counseling. The goal is to detect and prevent potential health issues early, promoting long-term health and vitality.
Diagnostic Services: Equipped to handle various medical cases, the hospital offers essential diagnostic tools. This likely includes in-house laboratory testing (such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal analysis) and imaging services like X-rays (radiography). These capabilities enable prompt and accurate diagnoses, which are crucial for effective treatment planning, as evidenced by a life-saving diagnosis of a lethargic Labrador Retriever.
Medical Treatment: The experienced veterinary team is adept at diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses. They develop individualized treatment plans, ensuring the best possible outcome for each patient.
Surgical Procedures: While specific surgical offerings are not detailed, a comprehensive "Pet Hospital" typically provides various surgical services, from routine procedures like spaying and neutering to soft tissue surgeries. Such services would include thorough pre-surgical assessments, safe anesthesia protocols, and dedicated post-operative care for a smooth recovery.
Dental Care: Oral health is integral to a pet's overall well-being. It is highly probable that the hospital offers professional dental cleanings, extractions, and other dental services to prevent and treat periodontal disease, which can have systemic health implications.
Pain Management: Understanding the importance of comfort, the hospital likely provides effective pain management strategies for pets recovering from surgery, managing injuries, or dealing with chronic conditions like arthritis, ensuring a better quality of life.
Client Education and Communication: A strong emphasis is placed on client education. The veterinarians "take the time to explain everything in detail," ensuring pet owners are fully informed and comfortable with their pet's diagnosis and treatment plan, which makes "any experience easier."
What truly sets Sandwich Animal Hospital apart are its distinctive features, which are consistently highlighted in client testimonials. The leadership of Drs. Casey and Adrien Cloutier is a significant strength. Clients express "100% confident" that their "fur babies are in the best hands," a testament to the doctors' expertise and the trust they inspire. Dr. Adrien Cloutier, specifically, is lauded for accurately diagnosing a life-threatening condition in a pet, saving its life through quick and precise action. This level of diagnostic acumen is invaluable to pet owners.
Another prominent feature is the remarkably personal and caring approach of the entire staff. The sentiment that "the staff know them and love them" and that visits are "like going to your friend's house" underscores the deeply personal connection fostered. This creates a highly comforting and supportive environment, differentiating it from more impersonal clinical settings. The staff's visible joy at a pet's recovery, by "cheering his recovery" during a follow-up, further illustrates their genuine investment in each animal's well-being.
The commitment to detailed explanations is also a key feature. By taking the time to thoroughly explain diagnoses and treatment plans, the hospital empowers pet owners with knowledge and peace of mind, making stressful situations much more manageable. This transparency and open communication build strong, trusting relationships between the veterinary team and pet families.
For local users in North Sandwich, NH, and surrounding areas, Sandwich Animal Hospital is an easily accessible and highly recommended choice for veterinary care. They can be reached by phone at (603) 284-6206 or via mobile at +1 603-284-6206. The stories of life-saving diagnoses, the deep personal connections formed with both pets and owners, and the consistent praise for the entire team's professionalism and compassion are powerful testimonials. The high level of confidence expressed by clients, stating they "highly recommend" the hospital, speaks volumes about the quality of care and the positive experiences routinely delivered. Sandwich Animal Hospital stands as a beacon of compassionate and competent veterinary medicine, where pets are treated as cherished family members and their owners receive the support and information they need.

Apr 25, 2025 · FeliciaWe recently had a minor emergency with one of our goats, that could’ve developed into a much worse situation, if Sandwich Animal Hospital wasn’t so willing to help. We are so thankful for their team! Dr. Adrien was so helpful, informative and very efficient. In no time at all, we walked out with a happy, healthy, basically brand new goatie. We are immensely grateful, and very happy to have found such a wonderful, trusted place!
Aug 22, 2024 · Delanie GreeneUpdate on review: the vet was never asked to miss their lunch break nor was I aware of this, they gave me the time to bring her in. My rabbit was not a client of the vet and I was not met with the same heartlessness as I was when I called for my dog. An appointment was not demanded from me, I simply asked if they had an opening in the next few days. And this vet will discharge you as a patient if they don’t like your review instead of addressing the problem or discussing the matter with the patient My family unfortunately had to put down 2 of our elderly animals within a couple weeks of each other. The first animal, a rabbit, they were amazing with. They got her an appointment that day. When I called about my parents dog (they recently moved to the area) Shana, the receptionist, would barely let me get a word in. I asked if they had an appointment in the next few days because she needed to be put down, she seemed like she didn’t believe me when I told her that the dogs original vet wouldn’t see me. My parents were away with the dog visiting family but were coming back. Shana told me “I can’t make time in the schedule, they will be passing urgent cares so we’re not going to see her”. It’s very unsettling to think I’m just going to bring my dog to any urgent care and then have to drive hours back home with a deceased dog in the car. Shana was very heartless. I hope next time she has more compassion for someone losing a pet.
