S&S Family Pet Hospital

For the past two years, I have entrusted my pets to this clinic, where we once received compassionate care. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Recently, my dog underwent surgery, and the experience was far from smooth. I understand that renovations and curbside visits can cause some disruption, but after the surgery, the vet never came out to speak with me, which left me concerned. My dog developed an infection between his abdominal wall and the incision site, and when I brought him back, they admitted the infection was a result of their surgical procedure. While they initially told me I would only be responsible for the antibiotics and IV fluids, I was charged for everything when I picked him up. When I questioned the charges, they offered a nominal “professional courtesy” discount, but I still ended up paying for their mistake. And again, no face-to-face conversation with the vet. The following day, I received a call from a receptionist to check on my dog, but she got his name wrong and then laughed about it. A few weeks later, I brought in my senior cat for an end-of-life consultation. We decided to try one last treatment, and the first dose was administered at the clinic during the appointment, which was on a Friday. When we got home, I noticed my cat was having some issues, and by Saturday morning, he was staggering, couldn’t fully open his eyes, and couldn’t eat. I called the clinic as soon as they opened, but was told there were no available appointments. The receptionist said she would speak to the vet to see if they could work us in and call me back, but I never received a call. My husband also tried contacting them, only to be told the earliest they could see us was Monday afternoon. The lack of compassion has been deeply disappointing.

I’ve been going here for 11 years. All the staff are very kind and I really feel like they care about my pet’s wellbeing. We feel very well taken care of here and I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else.

I have been coming to S&S forever. I started in 2014 up to 2017. I moved away to a different state from 2017 to 2022. But as soon as I got back to San Antonio, I immediately returned to S&S with my late Doberman, Storm, whom the staff had known since I got her at 12 weeks of age. They now take care of my other two fur babies, Nova & Hope. I love S&S and will continue to go to them as long as I am in San Antonio.

Snickers is living her best life now, thanks to S&S. Dr. Smith kept us updated throughout the day of surgery and has also followed up by text throughout her recovery period. I have been a client for many years, and Dr. Smith, Dr. Garza, and Dr. Bilgic are definitely a cut above the rest. This review is long overdue. I'm grateful for the compassionate care they have provided. I highly recommend them!

I took my pets to S&S for eight years. Dr Smith and Dr Garza were amazing. Until this year, when our dogs puppy got sick and it’s been a horrible experience. The Dr that would see our puppy, would never call us back. Half the time we can’t get anyone to even answer the phone or give us a straight answer on a question. Our puppy was in renal failure and half the time I had to remind the Dr what he was calling me about. I called weekly to speak to an office manager and sent an email and nothing. After some research, the signs/symptoms our puppy exhibited early on should’ve been recognized by a dr. He passed at only a year and a half old. Their techs are the only saving grace, they are amazing and compassionate. Unfortunately after 8 years, we won’t be going back. Oh and not to mention, they also gave us the wrong lab results and the dr never came back in to talk about the right lab results. Horrible experience and bedside manner. Thousands of dollars spent.
