Rescued a 8yr old QH from auction about a year and a half ago. Greg came very highly recommended to try and figure out this horse's issues (all over lameness, but trying to identify the source). Booked an appointment 3 weeks out, waited while this horse struggled being sound on pasture, and the day of the appointment, he cancelled. They sent out another younger and significantly less experienced vet who said he would converse with Greg and share everything with him to help figure out the issues. Never done, but was told to put very expensive shoes on to help. Shoes helped for a few months, although horse was never comfortable at anything more than a walk. Fast forward 9mo, and horse had a severe laminitis episode. Another, even younger and less experienced vet, came out and suggested a course if intense anti inflammatories and bute. Horse recovered, but was still never comfortable, even in bute. Mind you, multiple xrays have been done on this horse at different times of his episodes at $250 each shot. 1st vet I worked with from there came out 2 or the 3x to give course of anti inflammatory treatment and suggested increasing the height of the wedges in his shoes and to take off a significant amount of foot, which increased the farrier visit significantly. I asked if this was run past their senior vet, which he said yes. Against farrier's approach, we went through with vet's suggestion and horse was in intense pain. Pulled the shoes 2 weeks later and when I asked what to do next, vet said he needed multiple xrays to be able to give an appropriate course of action. I've spent thousands with this practice, and have never been given an appropriate course of action with any improving results. The original vet I was told to see, Greg, has a waitlist for weeks, and has a history of cancelling it last minute (this happened 2x). Not only are their prices ridiculous, but my intention of going with a group practice for the multiple vet experiences and collaboration was just never done. Office staff was pleasant, which earns them the 1 star.

Welcome to Running S Equine Veterinary
Welcome to Running S Equine Veterinary, a Pet Hospital located at 118 Fairmount Rd W in Califon, New Jersey, dedicated to providing veterinary services for horses. Our team aims to offer comprehensive care for your equine companions.
Based on customer reviews, experiences with Running S Equine Veterinary appear to be varied. One customer reported initially high recommendations for a veterinarian named Greg but experienced a last-minute cancellation and subsequent appointments with younger, less experienced vets. This customer expressed concerns about the lack of a clear and effective treatment plan despite spending a significant amount of money and undergoing multiple expensive X-rays. They also mentioned a suggested treatment that went against their farrier's advice and resulted in increased pain for their horse. Furthermore, this customer noted that the anticipated collaboration among multiple vets in the practice did not occur and that the senior vet, Greg, had a long waitlist and a history of last-minute cancellations.
Another customer, however, reported "excellent care with an in-depth explanation of all aspects of the condition affecting the horse," indicating a positive experience with the practice.
It's important to note that while one review highlights significant concerns regarding the consistency of care, communication, and treatment outcomes, another review praises the thoroughness of the explanations provided. The office staff was mentioned as pleasant in one of the reviews.
