I can’t say enough good things about this vet! Not only are they available within a reasonable amount of time, but they also go out of their way to explain everything clearly and thoroughly. They’re always kind, patient, and incredibly understanding. Most importantly, they take excellent care of my cats—I truly feel like they treat them as if they were their own. I feel so lucky to have found a vet I trust this much.

Based on available information, including direct descriptions and customer reviews, we can piece together a picture of what Rotterdam Veterinary Hospital offers. It's important to note that customer experiences can vary, and this introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on the provided feedback.
Environment and Atmosphere:
While specific details about the hospital's physical environment are not explicitly provided, one positive review highlights the staff's kindness, patience, and understanding. This suggests a potentially welcoming and compassionate atmosphere, which can be crucial for both pets and their owners, especially during times of stress or concern about their animal's health. A comfortable and reassuring environment can contribute significantly to a positive veterinary experience.
Services Offered:
The information suggests that Rotterdam Veterinary Hospital offers a range of veterinary services, including routine check-ups, vaccinations (as mentioned in one of the negative reviews regarding puppy shots), and potentially diagnostic procedures and treatments for illnesses and injuries. One positive review specifically mentions the excellent care provided to cats. The negative reviews allude to the administration of vaccinations and the proposition of additional tests and services, implying that these are part of their service offerings. It is common for pet hospitals to provide services such as:
- General wellness exams

To get a comprehensive understanding of the specific services offered at Rotterdam Veterinary Hospital, it is advisable to contact them directly.
Features and Approach:
One of the key features highlighted in a positive review is the availability of appointments within a reasonable timeframe. This responsiveness can be particularly important when a pet requires timely medical attention. Furthermore, this review praises the veterinarians for thoroughly explaining everything, indicating a commitment to clear communication and client education. The reviewer also felt that their cats were treated with genuine care, as if they were the hospital's own pets, suggesting a compassionate and dedicated approach to animal welfare.
However, it is crucial to consider the perspectives presented in the negative reviews. One reviewer expressed concerns about being pressured to purchase unnecessary tests or services and was dissatisfied with the administration of puppy shots. This review also mentions a disagreement regarding "friendly visits" and perceived aggressive behavior in their dog. Another point of contention raised by a reviewer is the requirement of a deposit for setting up appointments, particularly after needing to reschedule once due to a work conflict. This reviewer felt penalized despite having a history of multiple appointments. A third negative review summarizes the overall experience as unhelpful, unfriendly, and focused on upselling rather than being customer or pet-focused.
These contrasting viewpoints suggest that while some clients have had positive experiences characterized by clear communication and perceived genuine care, others have raised concerns about the hospital's approach to recommendations, appointment policies, and overall customer service.
Promotional Information:
Based on the provided information, there are no specific promotional offers or discounts mentioned. To learn about any current promotions, new client specials, or loyalty programs, it is recommended to contact Rotterdam Veterinary Hospital directly via phone or their mobile number.
Summary and Considerations for Local Users:
Rotterdam Veterinary Hospital, located in Schenectady, NY, operates as a Pet Hospital offering veterinary care services. Positive feedback suggests that some clients appreciate their timely availability, clear communication, and the compassionate care provided to their pets. If these aspects are particularly important to you, Rotterdam Veterinary Hospital might be a viable option to consider.
However, it is essential for potential local users to also take into account the concerns raised in the negative reviews. These concerns include perceptions of upselling, dissatisfaction with appointment policies (specifically regarding deposits for rescheduling), and an overall feeling of being neither customer nor pet-focused by some individuals. If transparency in recommendations, flexible appointment policies, and a strong emphasis on customer service are high priorities for you, it may be prudent to discuss these aspects with the hospital staff directly or consider these points alongside other options in the area.
As with any service provider, it is recommended that local users conduct their own due diligence. This could involve contacting Rotterdam Veterinary Hospital to inquire about their services, policies, and approach to patient care. Asking specific questions related to the concerns raised in the reviews might provide further clarity and help you determine if this veterinary hospital aligns with your expectations and the needs of your pet. Visiting the facility, if possible, could also offer valuable insights into the environment and the interactions between staff and animals.
Ultimately, choosing a veterinary hospital is a significant decision for any pet owner. Weighing the positive feedback against the concerns raised, and conducting your own research, will help you make an informed choice about where to entrust the health and well-being of your furry, scaled, or feathered family members in the Schenectady area.

Apr 17, 2025 · jodiz26Always trying to get you to buy a test or a service that you really don't need. I was not thrilled with how they administered our puppies' shots. Also tried to tell me that if I didn't bring my dog for friendly visits that he was going to turn into an aggressive dog and it would be my fault when he turned out like that. Of course he doesn't want to go there after they gouged his leg trying to give him a shot. For a new puppy, they intentionally spread out the appointments so that you have to pay a visit fee each time. I am also not happy about being required to pay a deposit to set up an appointment after I needed to reschedule an appointment due to a work conflict. I had to reschedule once. Now they want a deposit every time I book an appointment. I can see asking for a deposit if I have a balance on my account, however, treating me like a serial offender is ridiculous and uncalled for. And life happens, sometimes you need to reschedule your appointment; don't penalize people who are trying to make a living. And really? I had like 10 appointments in 2 months and I had to reschedule one. Overall, not very helpful or friendly. Not customer focused or pet focused - just trying to upsell and charge as much as they can. Moving to a different vet.
May 12, 2025 · Mary BastianMy previous review was miraculously deleted. Their European dr. told me my dog had all kinds of puss and was at risk for death. After the emergency surgery the surgeon must not have known what the Dr told me. The surgeon told me she was clean as a whistle and didn't need an emergency surgery, or any surgery at all. You have a bad doctor. Disgusting profiteer. Don't go here.
Apr 05, 2025 · Chris SzadyI’m not a client and I’m glad I’m not. I called to get pricing on pet euthanasia services (was told $500-$600,btw). They told me they needed to do an exam even though I have the paperwork from my vet showing my dogs cancer diagnosis. I was told that they legally couldn’t euthanize my dog without doing a prior exam. Which I find hard to believe because they’re the fifth veterinary office I called today and the only people who said that. unfortunately, the 3.9 stars seems to residual ratings from years ago and doesn’t really account for the recent reviews because a lot of people are saying the same thing. The staff is uncaring, snooty, and insensitive.
Feb 07, 2025 · Angie BaptisteWe have been with Rotterdam Vet for many years. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The doctors are knowledgeable and answer all my questions. They are truly animal lovers and take great care of my dogs.
