We are new to the area, and had yet to find a vet. Our 7yo dog, Butter, suffered an emergency that turned out to be a stomach blockage. EACH and ALL of the women at Root River worked hard to get Butter in quickly, complete tests, make diagnoses, offer us treatment options, and give cost estimates. Dr. Leigh Ann then stayed late in the evening to do Butter's essentially emergency surgery to remove the pinecone he'd eaten. Instructions on follow up care were clear and detailed, and doctor/vet tech follow up phone calls were frequent and caring. Butter needed some additional care due to his own individual tummy challenges, manner of healing, and needed antibiotics, and again, staff was right there for assistance. Notably, every single diagnosis, suggestion, and/or critically thought-through suspicion by techs and the vet were spot-on, leading to our absolute trust in Root River staff going forward. And last, we came from an urban environment, replete with vet practices, many corporate/nationally owned. Root River is a breath of fresh air, with reasonable costs, real time spent with pets and owners, maintains value-for-care, and has a clear commitment to its values. We know Butter has found his place, and we are grateful. Thank you!!

After losing our 18-year-old cat over a year ago, we had not felt ready to get another pet. In September, a stray kitten appeared in our back yard, hiding under our garden cart. After making sure the kitten didn't belong to anyone, we called Root River Veterinary Center for some initial advice to help calm the frightened kitten and adopted her. After a few weeks, we took her there for her first appointment. The doctors and staff were very quick but thorough in their evaluation so that Pippa was not too frightened. I have never had anything but great service at Root River Veterinary Center. Update: We recently had another appointment for Pippa. She is now over a year old. This appointment could not have gone better. Because Pippa was a feral kitten and has grown up during the pandemic, she is not used to any people other than us and is extremely shy of strangers. I was very nervous about how she might respond. Root River vet staff were wonderful with her, keeping things quiet, draping something over her head so she would feel safe, moving slowly so she would not be startled, and making the appointment as short as possible. It went extremely well, and I was greatly relieved that she did not seem afraid. I'm very pleased!

Dr. LeAnne and all of her staff have always been very professional and friendly for the last 10 years that I have been taking my cat. We are going to miss you after our move to Arizona. Especially Kristin! She is an exceptional asset to your business. Thanks for all the great visits and interest in keeping Stuart healthy and acting like a 2 year old...even as he just turned 17!
