The team at Rochester Veterinary Clinic understands that pets are an integral part of the family, and they strive to offer services that reflect this understanding, focusing on preventative care, early detection of diseases, and effective treatment plans. Their commitment to staying current with veterinary advancements ensures that your pet receives the most up-to-date and effective treatments available.
Upon entering Rochester Veterinary Clinic, clients are often greeted by an atmosphere of calm and professionalism. While specific details about the interior decor aren't explicitly provided, the overwhelmingly positive customer reviews suggest an environment that is welcoming and reassuring for both pets and their owners. A key aspect of a good veterinary clinic's environment is its ability to minimize stress for animals. This often involves clean facilities, a quiet waiting area, and a staff that understands how to handle anxious pets with gentleness and patience. The clinic’s location on N John St suggests an accessible and community-integrated setting, likely contributing to the ease with which local pet owners can visit.
The dedication of the staff, particularly Dr. Sturdy, to making animals "feel safe and loved" speaks volumes about the clinic's nurturing environment. Such an environment is crucial for fostering trust between the animals, their owners, and the veterinary team, making future visits less daunting and more effective.
As a full-fledged "Pet Hospital," Rochester Veterinary Clinic offers an extensive range of veterinary services. While a definitive list of all services isn't available from the provided information, we can infer a comprehensive offering based on typical pet hospital capabilities and customer testimonials. These services likely include, but are not limited to:
- Preventative Care: This is the cornerstone of long-term pet health. It would involve routine wellness exams, vaccinations tailored to your pet's lifestyle and risk factors, parasite prevention (fleas, ticks, heartworm), and nutritional counseling to maintain optimal weight and health.
- Diagnostic Services: To accurately diagnose illnesses, the clinic would offer in-house laboratory testing for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams. Imaging services like X-rays (radiography) are essential for diagnosing orthopedic issues, organ problems, and foreign body ingestions. Ultrasound might also be available for more detailed soft tissue imaging.
- Surgical Procedures: As evidenced by the review mentioning an emergency leg amputation, the clinic is equipped for both routine and emergency surgeries. This would likely include spaying and neutering, soft tissue surgeries (e.g., tumor removal), and potentially orthopedic surgeries.
- Dental Care: Oral health is critical for overall well-being. Services would typically include dental cleanings, extractions, and addressing other dental issues.
- Emergency and Critical Care: The "emergency vet visit" mentioned in a review highlights their capacity to handle urgent situations. This means they are prepared to respond to acute injuries, sudden illnesses, and other life-threatening conditions, offering immediate medical attention and stabilization.
- Pain Management: Crucial for pets recovering from surgery, injury, or managing chronic conditions like arthritis.
- Senior Pet Care: As pets age, their needs change. The clinic would provide specialized care for senior animals, focusing on managing age-related conditions and maintaining their quality of life, as exemplified by the 19-year-old diabetic cat thriving under their care.
- Behavioral Counseling: Addressing common pet behavioral issues, which can significantly impact the pet-owner bond.
Rochester Veterinary Clinic is distinguished by several key features that resonate strongly with its clientele:
- Exceptional Compassion and Care: Repeatedly emphasized in reviews, the clinic's staff, particularly Dr. Sturdy, is lauded for their loving and caring approach to animals. This goes beyond medical treatment, focusing on the emotional well-being of the pets. The sentiment that they "go above and beyond to make sure they feel safe and loved" highlights this core value.
- Realistic and Ethical Care: Dr. Sturdy's commitment to "compassionate, realistic care" means he avoids "unnecessary treatments or trauma." This ethical stance is highly valued by pet owners, as it demonstrates a focus on the animal's best interest rather than excessive interventions. This approach ensures that pets receive appropriate care without undergoing procedures that may cause undue stress or offer little benefit.
- Accessibility and Timeliness: The comment "No long waits for appointments, ever" is a significant advantage. In an industry where getting timely veterinary care can sometimes be a challenge, the clinic's efficiency in scheduling appointments is a major convenience for busy pet owners and crucial in emergency situations.
- Long-Term Relationships: The testimonial about a family bringing four cats over 30 years speaks volumes about the clinic's ability to build lasting relationships with clients and their pets. This continuity of care allows the veterinary team to gain a deep understanding of a pet's medical history and individual needs, leading to more personalized and effective treatment.
- Proven Success in Complex Cases: The success story of the 19-year-old cat with 7.5 years of insulin-dependent diabetes showcases the clinic's expertise in managing chronic and complex conditions, enabling pets to live long and graceful lives despite significant health challenges.

Jun 04, 2021 · E SDr. Sturdy and the staff are amazing! They were loving, kind and patient when we had to put our Sweet (Dog-Son) King down. He was 12 and a half and the compassion shown to my family and I was truly remarkable ❤️😇🙏!
Dec 21, 2019 · Dr. Nalo Thomas MitchellSeems like a small town vet clinic that I will never return too. Walked in and it smelled like old cigarettes. Didn’t wait long for the visit but the vet comes out and takes my pet and just walks away no cue to come back with or anything. I end up going back as my pet is super anxious, vet barely said a word to me, asked me questions about what’s wrong and started randomly doing things without explaining, there was also another guy there who I assume was helping and didn’t say much either. What really aggravates me is that the vet kept dropping things due to his swollen hands, I’m not sure what from and I understand we all have things we are dealing with but to be giving pets shots or performing any type of procedure would make for an extremely unsafe situation for pets. The receptionist is nice but I won’t be returning.
Oct 15, 2021 · JvBella did great down there. The cost to live in this state is ridiculous. Crazy. Next year I will definitely have her registered in Texas. Vets A1. They have to pay the state I get it. Extra charge my girl is not fixed in IL. Wow. Again great vet.
