Today was one of the saddest days of my and my family’s lives. Our 18 year old tabby was terminally ill and it was obviously time to make a humane decision. I called Robinson Animal Hospital on a Monday and they scheduled us for the next day. They were considerably less expensive than other vets I called. I honestly had no idea what to expect. We showed up a little early for the appointment. We stayed in the car with our cat until the room was ready. When they called us in, I was crying hysterically. The entire staff (from the front desk, to the vet techs to Dr. Davidson) was extremely compassionate and gentle with us and our elderly, cancer-ridden cat. They explained everything that would happen and allowed us to take our time and say our goodbyes. Dr Davidson explained what was happening as she administered each medication and reassured us that everything was fine. When it was all over, they brought her out to us in a beautifully wrapped memorial blanket and gave us an envelope with her paw prints. We buried her in the memorial blanket from the hospital because it was comfortable and perfect for our beloved cat. It was an unexpected and beautiful gesture from the hospital. I wish I could give Robinson Animal Hospital more than five stars. But they will have to settle for the deepest, heartfelt gratitude from my family. ❤️

Welcome to Robinson Animal Hospital

Robinson Animal Hospital, situated at 5663 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, PA 15136, USA, distinguishes itself as a "Pet Hospital" that goes above and beyond in providing not just medical care, but profound emotional support and unwavering compassion to both pets and their human families. This facility's approach to veterinary services is deeply empathetic, particularly during the most challenging moments of a pet's life, as evidenced by heartfelt client testimonials.

The environment at Robinson Animal Hospital, while not explicitly detailed in terms of aesthetic design, is clearly cultivated to be one of understanding and comfort. The practice of allowing clients to wait in their car until a room is ready, particularly during sensitive appointments like euthanasia, suggests a considerate and organized approach to managing patient flow and ensuring privacy. This attention to logistical detail contributes to a more serene and less stressful experience for pet owners, especially when they are emotionally vulnerable. The pervasive sentiment from reviews points to an atmosphere where "the entire staff (from the front desk, to the vet techs to Dr. Davidson) was extremely compassionate and gentle," indicating a culture of empathy that extends throughout the entire hospital. This compassionate environment is a critical feature, making difficult decisions slightly more bearable for grieving families.

As a "Pet Hospital," Robinson Animal Hospital offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services, though the provided reviews highlight specific areas of exceptional care. Their expertise clearly extends to senior pet care and end-of-life services, which they handle with remarkable sensitivity and professionalism. The detailed account of an euthanasia appointment underscores their commitment to humane decisions, clear explanations of procedures, and allowing families ample time to say their goodbyes. The staff's actions, such as explaining "what was happening as she administered each medication" and reassuring that "everything was fine," demonstrate a profound respect for both the pet and the owner's emotional state. Beyond end-of-life care, the hospital also provides standard veterinary services, including routine injections and general health checks, as indicated by a client's first visit for "normal injections." They are also adept at managing acute issues, as shown when they facilitated a "quick visit the same day" for a post-surgery incision concern, providing "medicine and cleaned the stitches." This adaptability highlights their capacity for responsive and thorough care across various health needs.

A significant feature that sets Robinson Animal Hospital apart is their exceptional compassion and ethical consideration, particularly regarding difficult diagnoses and end-of-life decisions. Clients explicitly praise their approach to sensitive conversations, noting that the doctor was "so comforting" and "talked with me on all of my options," allowing ample "time to cry and call my mom" without ever feeling "rushed." This patience and understanding are invaluable during moments of crisis. Furthermore, the hospital's pricing appears to be "considerably less expensive than other vets," which, combined with their high level of care, makes them an incredibly valuable resource for the community. The thoughtful gestures, such as providing a "beautifully wrapped memorial blanket" for burial and an "envelope with her paw prints," are unexpected yet deeply appreciated acts of kindness that provide immense comfort to grieving families. These personal touches transform a clinical experience into a deeply human one, leaving a lasting positive impression during a time of immense sorrow. The fact that the staff "even hugged me" during a solitary euthanasia appointment further underscores their genuine care and desire to ensure no client feels alone.

Beyond critical care, Robinson Animal Hospital also demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting new pet parents. The experience of a "first time dog mom" receiving guidance through "everything for first time dog moms" including a "what to know book and some pamphlets," highlights their dedication to client education and proactive care. This approach ensures that even early in a pet's life, owners feel empowered and informed, fostering responsible pet ownership from the outset. The continuity of care, from initial injections to spaying procedures and post-operative follow-ups, demonstrates a comprehensive and dedicated veterinary partnership for the entire lifespan of the pet. The ability to send photos to the doctor for quick assessments also speaks to their modern and responsive communication methods, enhancing convenience and efficiency for pet owners.

Promotional information for Robinson Animal Hospital would strongly feature their unique blend of compassionate care, ethical practice, and affordability. Key messages would include: "Compassionate Veterinary Care When It Matters Most," "Supporting Your Pet's Journey, From Puppyhood to Golden Years," "Ethical Care, Affordable Peace of Mind," "Beyond Medicine: A Hand to Hold Through Every Pet Milestone," and "Dedicated to Your Pet's Health and Your Family's Heart." The powerful testimonials, particularly those detailing end-of-life experiences and initial puppy care, would be central to their marketing, as they speak directly to the emotional and practical needs of pet owners. Emphasizing Dr. Davidson's empathetic approach and the entire staff's unwavering support would also be crucial. The willingness to accommodate quick visits for concerns and providing detailed information for new pet parents are also strong selling points that highlight their comprehensive and responsive service model.

Robinson Animal Hospital can be reached by phone at (412) 809-0430, with the same number also listed as a mobile contact: +1 412-809-0430. I wouldn’t want anyone else to take care of my baby Sadie. This will be a LONG review but the overall short version is this… take your pet here for the ultimate treatment and care. Not only will your pet be respected but you will be as well. Let’s start back in March 2022. I brought my cat in for the first time here for her normal injections. The doctor informed me that she saw a potential cancerous sore in her mouth. She was pretty confident it was cancer due to her illnesses and her age. Me being a young woman my cat was my life I cried profusely in the room, the doctor was so comforting to me and talked with me on all of my options and even gave me time to cry and call my mom. Not once did I feel rushed to make a decision or even that I was over reacting. The doctor was insanely kind and respectful. I did see a review on here that said they are late and behind often. While that has not always been true for me please know when going to a vet sometimes people are behind because they are giving people like me time to process and think what I want to do. Ultimately, I did put my cat down about a month later because the medicine was not working and she stopped eating. As I was putting her down, the staff made it known that I could take my time and as much time needed with my cat. I went alone and the staff even hugged me and this made me feel not alone. They then sent me a card with all staff signature. Recently in August 2022 i became a first time dog mom!!! They guided me through everything for first time dog moms since I got a 8 week puppy. They gave me a what to know book and some pamphlets. My dog was recently spayed in January 2023. Unfortunately my dog was somehow getting to her incisions without me seeing.. I was able to send photos to the dr and they wanted to see her for a quick visit the same day!! They gave us some medicine and cleaned the stitches as well. All I can say is I have never in my life felt more valued and respected. TAKE YOUR PET HERE.

For twelve years, we’ve relied on the staff at Robinson Animal Hospital to provide quality and compassionate care for our dog but when I needed them most, they failed me. It was a day that every dog owner dreads, my dog was so ill he needed to be euthanized. I called RAH and they said they could help me. When I arrived, I was left in the public waiting room with a very sick dog for fifteen lo-o-o-o-ong minutes. I was relieved when they were finally able to take us back into one of the private rooms. As usual, Dr. Lauren Sechler was wonderful and the vet tech was also kind and compassionate. However, the woman tasked with putting the catheter into my dog’s leg was clearly annoyed at having difficulty finding a good vein. She determined that something was wrong with the catheter and had to unwind a long length of tape from around his leg to get it out and start again, behaving as though it was somehow my dog’s fault. All this time, my very sick dog had not been tranquilized. Finally, after shaving another leg and trying again, Dr. Sechler administered a tranquilizer into his backside. It took a few minutes before the drug took effect. As usual, my dog remained compliant all the way through the procedure but he was in distress. He was dying. I asked how much longer the procedure would take, and was told in an irritated tone, the catheter needed to be placed and flushed, before the final drugs were administered. A little compassion would have gone a long way. Finally, the woman was replaced by another assistant until the procedure was completed. Dr. Sechler expressed her condolences and, as I gathered myself to drive back home, I remarked that the woman inserting the catheter made a horrible situation so much worse. He was an amazing dog. He deserved so much better.

The staff at Robinson Animal Hospital truly care for every pet (and pet owner) that comes through their door. I personally wouldn’t consider taking my pets to any other veterinary simply because of the outstanding care they have received here.

I love Robinson Animal Hospital. I have been coming here for at least 8 years. Dr. Keffer is my go-to for all my pocket pets; rats, and now chinchillas. The staff are friendly and kind. They sent me a sympathy card when a rat I brought in passed away the next day (he was sick they did nothing wrong). They take CareCredit, which is helpful to break down payments into smaller increments. Pics of the pets for Google tax.
