Saw another vet over the weekend for an emergency visit with my 12 year old dog who get VERY sick very quick. They said we had no choice but to put her down. We were not accepting that! First thing Monday morning I reached out to a few vets in the area and Roane Veterinary was the first to get back to us and I thank God for that! We went in knowing we wanted a thorough ultrasound and they did just that for us. Dr. Bristol sat with us for as long as we needed. Gave us all the information we needed. They found an 8 lb mass on my poor dogs spleen. They gave us the option for surgery. And if it wasn't for the confidence in her voice when she spoke to us I still may have put my dog down. She gave us hope that it would go well. We knew it was a risk but we went for it and we are so glad we did. They booked her surgery for the next morning. They called us right after with the BEST NEWS!! My girl pulled through and was recovering well. They had some issues during the anesthesia they were honest about but they treated her as needed and got her through it. Cam, one of the techs, had her own dog Kodak on site and he donated blood for my girls transfusion! Abby one of the other techs went out of her way keeping an extra eye on her after her surgery as well. Dr. Cook is the surgeon who explained everything to me when I dropped her off and he is the real deal!!!!!! A record breaking mass removed, a speedy recovery, clean incision no issues with healing. I could go on and on about this vets office. They left me in tears for days. Happy tears- I am beyond grateful for this entire practice. I too lived in Florida for 13 years. Spent 20 years in New Jersey. In my 34 years I have had animals my entire life and this clinic blows all the others away. From all the emails, texts, calls, all the updates- to the energy when we walk through the door. They truly love animals and love YOUR animals. They see how we value our babies and they do not take that lightly! They go above and beyond. They did a complimentary nail trim. They cleaned her nose and treated it and it actually healed! (We've been having some issues healing it from allergies) With the kind of care our dogs are given, I would expect the price to be much higher also. They are much cheaper than the other places we have been too. How do I really know we can trust them? When my 12 year old rescue gets surgery and has to stay with strangers for 2 days and she STILL was so happy to be seen by them afterwards! When we go back for visits she's not trying to run out the door, she is truly comfortable in their care. I think she knows they saved her life!

Welcome to Roane Veterinary Hospital
Roane Veterinary Hospital, located at 3000 Roane State Hwy, Harriman, TN 37748, USA, operates as a comprehensive "Pet Hospital" dedicated to providing a wide array of veterinary services and goods to the local community. This establishment is committed to addressing the diverse health needs of pets, ranging from critical emergency interventions and complex surgeries to routine wellness care. As a "Pet Hospital," their mission extends beyond basic treatments, aiming to be a vital partner for pet owners in ensuring the longevity and well-being of their animal companions through expert medical care, advanced diagnostic capabilities, and a profoundly compassionate approach. Their services are designed to offer hope and effective solutions even in the most challenging health scenarios.
The environment at Roane Veterinary Hospital is consistently described as a place where pets feel comfortable and safe, and where owners feel supported and informed. While specific details about the physical layout or decor are not provided, the extensive positive review paints a picture of a clinic that exudes positive energy and a genuine love for animals from the moment clients "walk through the door." The hospital is clearly equipped to handle critical situations, including advanced diagnostics like ultrasounds and complex surgical procedures, suggesting a modern and functional clinical environment with necessary medical equipment. The fact that a 12-year-old rescue dog, initially uncomfortable with strangers, became "happy to be seen by them afterwards" and "is truly comfortable in their care" during subsequent visits, speaks volumes about the calming and trustworthy atmosphere cultivated by the staff.
Furthermore, the environment extends to the compassionate and supportive interactions with the team. Dr. Bristol, Dr. Cook, and technicians like Cam and Abby, create an atmosphere of hope, transparency, and meticulous care. The presence of staff's own pets, like Kodak, who even acted as a blood donor, further emphasizes a truly pet-centric environment where animals are treated as family. The commitment to honest communication, even about "issues during the anesthesia," reinforces a transparent and trustworthy environment. However, it is important to acknowledge a conflicting review that suggests a perceived lack of interest in owner concerns and a focus on "upselling unnecessary services," which for some clients, can create an an environment of distrust regarding financial transparency and genuine care. This indicates that while many experience a deeply caring environment, perceptions can vary significantly based on individual interactions and expectations regarding cost management.
Roane Veterinary Hospital offers a comprehensive and advanced range of veterinary services, particularly excelling in emergency care and complex surgical interventions. Their services include, but are not limited to: **Emergency Veterinary Care**, demonstrated by their immediate response to a critical case involving a rapidly sick dog and their willingness to explore alternatives to euthanasia. They are equipped to perform **Advanced Diagnostics**, as highlighted by the thorough ultrasound that identified an 8 lb splenic mass. This precision in diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment planning. A core strength of their service is **Complex Surgical Procedures**, specifically exemplified by the successful removal of a record-breaking splenic mass. Dr. Cook is praised as a "real deal" surgeon, indicating a high level of surgical expertise and successful outcomes, even for high-risk patients. They are also prepared for **Blood Transfusions**, as shown by the technician's dog donating blood, which is vital for critical surgical patients.
Beyond these specialized and emergency services, as a comprehensive "Pet Hospital," they also provide essential ongoing care. This includes detailed **post-operative recovery management**, with staff diligently monitoring patients and providing consistent updates via "emails, texts, calls, all the updates." They offer **client education and communication**, with veterinarians like Dr. Bristol spending "as long as we needed" to provide "all the information we needed" for informed decision-making. The complimentary services like a "nail trim" and treating a persistent "nose issue from allergies" demonstrate attention to routine wellness and chronic condition management. While not explicitly detailed, standard "Pet Hospital" services would also encompass routine wellness exams, vaccinations, parasite prevention, general medical treatments for various ailments, and potentially dental care. The clinic's ability to offer high-level medical solutions at a comparatively lower cost ("much cheaper than the other places") enhances the value of their comprehensive service offerings, making critical care more accessible to pet owners.
The distinguishing features of Roane Veterinary Hospital are powerfully articulated through the extraordinary experiences of its satisfied clients, contrasting with some critical feedback. A paramount feature is their **exceptional capability in emergency and life-saving situations**. The dramatic account of saving a 12-year-old dog from euthanasia through precise diagnosis (8 lb splenic mass via ultrasound) and complex, high-risk surgery (splenectomy) is a testament to their advanced medical and surgical prowess. Dr. Cook is hailed as a "real deal" surgeon, signifying surgical excellence, and Dr. Bristol's confidence in offering surgical options when others suggested euthanasia instilled crucial hope in the pet owner. This proactive, solution-oriented approach in critical moments is a major differentiator.
Another standout feature is the **profound compassion and dedication of the entire team**. Dr. Bristol spent ample time with clients, providing comprehensive information. The vet techs, notably Cam and Abby, went "above and beyond," with Cam's dog donating blood for a transfusion and Abby providing extra vigilance during recovery. This level of personalized, empathetic care, where staff "truly love animals and love YOUR animals," creates a deeply trusting environment where pets feel comfortable even after invasive procedures. The clinic's commitment to **transparent communication** is also a key feature, as they were honest about "issues during the anesthesia" but ensured the pet pulled through successfully. Furthermore, their **affordability**—being "much cheaper than the other places"—while delivering superior care, is a unique and highly valued feature, especially for complex treatments. The ability of the rescue dog to be "happy to be seen by them afterwards" signifies an extremely positive emotional impact of their care.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge a contrasting feature highlighted by another reviewer: a perceived **lack of interest in owner concerns** and a **focus on "upselling unnecessary services,"** leading to a feeling of financial exploitation and lack of transparency. This suggests that while many experience genuine care, some clients may encounter difficulties in communication regarding cost and treatment necessity, impacting their trust and overall experience negatively. This disparity in client perception regarding financial practices is a significant feature to consider.
For promotional information, Roane Veterinary Hospital has a wealth of compelling narratives and strong selling points, particularly around their life-saving capabilities and compassionate care. The most impactful promotion would be to heavily feature **success stories of emergency interventions and complex surgeries**, like the one detailed with the splenic mass removal. This demonstrates their advanced medical expertise and inspires immense confidence. Highlighting the **individual excellence of Dr. Bristol and Dr. Cook** as knowledgeable and skilled professionals, along with the extraordinary dedication of their **veterinary technicians (Cam, Abby)**, would resonate strongly with pet owners. Emphasizing their "above and beyond" approach, including aspects like blood donation and meticulous post-operative care and updates, would showcase their profound commitment to animal welfare.
A key promotional angle should also be their ability to offer **high-quality, advanced veterinary care at a more affordable price** than competitors. This value proposition is highly attractive to pet owners, especially for major medical events. Promotions could explicitly state their expertise in diagnostics and surgery. Leveraging positive testimonials that speak to the comfort of pets in their care and the emotional relief provided to owners would be very powerful. The clinic could consider a "Second Opinion" or "Emergency Consultation" service, targeting pet owners who have received dire prognoses elsewhere, positioning themselves as a source of hope and alternative solutions.
While the positive aspects are numerous, any promotional strategy should also implicitly or explicitly address the concerns raised about financial transparency and upselling, perhaps by emphasizing clear communication about treatment options and costs during consultations. This could be framed as a commitment to partnership and informed decision-making. Community engagement through educational seminars on emergency pet care, or open house events showcasing their facilities and team, could further build trust and attract new clients, allowing them to experience the positive energy and dedication firsthand.

May 20, 2025 · Deanna RodriguezI would not recommend this veterinary clinic. Having lived in both Florida and California, I’ve had experience with many vets over the years. Unfortunately, this is only the second time I’ve encountered a clinic where the veterinarian seemed uninterested in hearing the pet owner's concerns or considering the cause-and-effect relationships presented. Despite providing relevant test results and paperwork, my input was largely dismissed. The approach felt more focused on upselling unnecessary services than on genuine care. Had I agreed to everything suggested, I could have spent the entire day there and walked out with an exorbitant bill. At worst, it felt like a situation where, once finances were exhausted, I might be pressured into surrendering my pet for research—possibly with an added fee under the pretense of further testing. Transparency, empathy, and collaboration are crucial in veterinary care. Unfortunately, I did not experience those here. Sincerely English Bull Terrier
May 14, 2025 · Jason ElliottThe staff is always great to deal with. Very polite and professional and obviously animal lovers. They are also very mindful of pricing considerations and don't try to push medications or treatments. Since the remodel, it is a very nice setup and they even have a room with a separate exit so if you have to put your pet down, you don't have to deal with people when you leave. Very thoughtful.
Mar 15, 2025 · Cameron SwiftUpdate year later: this is now our permanent vet. Dr Bristol is excellent to work with. This time an issue was found after our visit in the fecal test results, although the vet was closed Dr Bristol still called us until she got ahold of us to discuss treatment and arrange meds for morning pickup. Despite it taking up her evening she was not rushed in conversing about it. First time here, so pleased they squeezed us in last minute when our regular vet canceled our appointment. Our pup needed immediate attention to his swollen gland and they took good care of him. Everyone was kind, putting us at ease in a nervous situation. Our dog seemed to actually like it there despite the procedure he had to endure. I guess he appreciated their help!
Mar 26, 2025 · j williIn January I contacted the clinic having made the decision to end my aging kitties suffering. Without hesitation they said to come on in. But after my 15 y/o Bailey boy perked up we decided to wait. Finally after7 good months we were left with no other choice, we had to make that call again. This time there was no question. Not only did they remember the conversation from January they said to come on in. Unfortunately my kitty did not make it there. I called to cancel and the woman I spoke to offered sweet condolences. A week later I received a lovely card with handwritten condolences mentioning our sweet Bailey by name. This clinic who had never met our Bailey (he was a healthy house-cat who got violently ill with travel, vaccines, and most anything outside the norm so he stayed home happily). I can’t express how grateful I am for the thoughtfulness. Thank you!
