If I could give them a 0 star review I 100% would. I brought my dog in there twice for the same issue and each time they sent her home saying there was nothing wrong with her. They didn’t do any ex rays or anything like they should have they gave us no helpful information and now my dog is still suffering in pain. She’s been panting a lot and chewing at her paws along with crying a lot bc she’s in sm pain. I highly recommend not bringing your dog here unless you wanna waste your money we had to pay over 100$ each time just for them to look at my dog feel her belly and tell us to go home.

Welcome to Riverside Veterinary Care and Dental Services
Riverside Veterinary Care and Dental Services, located at 159 River St, Rutland, VT 05701, USA, is a comprehensive pet hospital dedicated to the health and well-being of animal companions in Rutland and the surrounding communities, including Ludlow. Available for contact at (802) 773-4771 or via mobile at +1 802-773-4771, this facility positions itself as a full-service, AAHA-accredited animal hospital. Their commitment extends to providing both emergency treatment cases and routine medical, surgical, and dental care.
The environment at Riverside Veterinary Care and Dental Services is designed with the comfort of pets and their owners in mind. According to their official statements, they strive to create a clinic that is "comfortable, kid-friendly, and calm," aiming to help pets relax in the waiting room and look forward to meeting the doctor. This focus on a calming atmosphere suggests an effort to minimize stress for animals, which is particularly important in a veterinary setting. While the reviews offer a mixed perspective, the intent appears to be a caring and compassionate environment where pets and their owners feel their needs and concerns are met. The facility being AAHA-accredited further implies adherence to high standards of facility operation, equipment, and patient care protocols, contributing to a professional and clean environment.
Riverside Veterinary Care and Dental Services offers a broad array of services, aligning with its classification as a comprehensive "Pet Hospital." Their core offerings explicitly include dental services, which is a significant highlight in their name. This likely encompasses routine dental cleanings, digital dental X-rays to assess sub-gumline health, and potentially extractions for diseased or damaged teeth. Beyond dental care, their services extend to routine medical check-ups, vaccinations, diagnostics such as digital radiography and ultrasonography, and a range of surgical procedures. They are equipped to perform most soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries, indicating capabilities for procedures like mass tumor removal, as supported by a positive client review. They also provide microchipping, preventative care including parasite prevention and annual bloodwork, and senior pet care. Furthermore, they cater to a variety of pets beyond just cats and dogs, including ferrets, rabbits, rats, hamsters, and guinea pigs, and offer boarding services in Rutland. Their commitment to superior veterinary care is evident in their emphasis on advanced diagnostic equipment and a tailored anesthetic protocol for every patient during surgery, including monitoring with pulse oximetry, doppler blood pressure, and ECG. They also mention providing pet behavior counseling and holistic & alternative care options like laser therapy for pain relief and healing.
A defining feature of Riverside Veterinary Care and Dental Services is its AAHA accreditation, which signifies that the hospital voluntarily meets the highest standards in veterinary care. This includes standards for facilities, equipment, patient care, and continuing education for staff. Their stated mission is to provide "superior veterinary care for your pets in a caring and comfortable environment," ensuring that clients and pets feel their needs are met. The inclusion of "Dental Services" in their name specifically highlights their expertise and focus on oral health, which is a critical aspect of overall pet well-being.
However, it is crucial to present a balanced view, acknowledging varied client experiences. While one review highly praises their work on a cat's mass tumor removal, stating, "They did an amazing job and I am so thankful for them," another review expresses significant dissatisfaction. This negative feedback details a dog suffering after being sent home twice for the same issue without X-rays or helpful information, leading to continued pain and a feeling of wasted money. This disparity in experiences suggests that while the hospital is capable of excellent care, as demonstrated by the surgical success, consistency in diagnostic thoroughness and client communication, particularly for non-surgical cases, might be an area of inconsistency for some clients. The negative review highlights concerns regarding diagnostic protocols (lack of X-rays) and the perceived value for money, which are important considerations for potential clients.
In terms of promotional information, Riverside Veterinary Care and Dental Services emphasizes preventative care as a means for pet owners to save on vet bills in the long run. They suggest that regular wellness check-ups can detect health issues early, preventing more costly treatments and surgeries. They also accept CareCredit, a popular financing option for healthcare expenses, making their services more accessible. While specific discount programs are not explicitly mentioned in the available information, their partnership with PetDesk for online appointment requests and pet health tracking suggests a modern approach to client convenience. Their website also offers informational articles, encouraging pet owners to become knowledgeable about preventative pet care, aligning with a proactive health philosophy. They also highlight their emergency care capabilities during office hours and partnerships with services like VetTriage for after-hours guidance, indicating a commitment to continuous support for pet owners.
In conclusion, Riverside Veterinary Care and Dental Services in Rutland, VT, aims to provide comprehensive and high-quality veterinary care, including specialized dental services, backed by AAHA accreditation. While they demonstrate a strong capability in surgical procedures and maintain a comfortable environment, prospective clients should consider the range of experiences shared by previous customers, particularly concerning diagnostic thoroughness for non-surgical issues. Their focus on preventative care and flexible payment options like CareCredit, combined with a wide array of services for various pets, makes them a significant presence in the local pet healthcare landscape.

Mar 21, 2025 · Jerromy HenrySo recently my cat ( JAXS) had to have surgery for I mass tumor removal from his rear leg. And I could have not asked better people to tend to his needs and treated him. They did an amazing job and I am so thankful for them. And I think (jaxs) is happy too. Ty again.
Mar 17, 2025 · Gregory BissetteWe recently had to say goodbye to our beloved Girtie. She was the most loyal companion for 15 years. Calling Riverside was the best decision. Dr Gifford and everyone we had contact with at Riverside showed nothing but compassion and kindness. I don’t think I will have another pet anytime soon but when I’m ready I know where to go!!
Aug 25, 2023 · Lisa NavarreteMy 3 boy kitties have all been/are patients here. I am convinced that bringing my first cat here saved his life, as he was very ill and was blown off at another vet office. We got 16 more months with him I believe as a result of excellent care here. My current boy is a patient here now and just had his annual. He finds it terrifying but everyone is so nice to him & us! As long as I live in Rutland I will always use Riverside! Nov 09, 2021 · Jennifer SnootsI have been a customer of Riverside for over three years. But today, I brought my dog in for a shot and I met the rudest and most unprofessional provider named Pat Erickson. She walked into the room and said my dog was a biter and had bitten someone and it was in his file. I questioned this because it was the first time I’d heard anything negative about him. No one at the clinic had ever mentioned that and I have always been in the room during the exam and nothing like that ever happened. She had an awful attitude and refused to touch my dog and wanted him sedated and kept overnight for a shot, Wellness exam and cyst exam. I asked her who she was and if she was a doctor. She never introduced herself and I’d never seen her before. Both my friend and I defended the dog but she was insistent he was vicious! I left the room and questioned the girl at checkout. She looked in my dogs file. It merely says, go slow with him. Nothing about biting or being a threat. Pat lied to me. I asked if there was another provider and I was told no, they are short staffed. I returned to the room and Pat Erickson was gone. My friend said she walked out after I did and didn’t say anything to my friend. So I left with my dog. I told the checkout person that if I returned I did not want Pat Erickson to touch my dog. I am posting this as a warning to other dog owners. My dog is large and black and some people have a bias against them. Pat needs to return to her retirement. Dog owners beware! New post: The reply below states that I wrote this review about another clinic. That is not correct. This is the right clinic. The Vet I am referring to in this two year old review no longer works at this clinic. I stand by every word in this review and I am still a client of this clinic. If the current owner would like to speak to me they know how to reach me.
