Welcome to Riordan Dennis DVM
Welcome to the introduction of Riordan Dennis DVM, also known to some long-term clients as the Riordan Vet Clinic, a Pet Hospital located at 301 NW 18th St in Ankeny, Iowa (IA 50023), USA. Serving the Ankeny community, this veterinary care provider has garnered attention through varied customer experiences, as reflected in online reviews. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the clinic based on the available feedback, encompassing aspects of their environment, services, features, and any potential insights into their operational practices.
While the provided reviews do not explicitly detail the physical environment of Riordan Dennis DVM, some inferences can be made based on the nature of a veterinary clinic and the customer interactions described. Typically, a pet hospital includes examination rooms for consultations and treatments, a reception area for clients and their pets, and potentially other areas for diagnostics such as X-ray equipment, laboratory services, and surgical procedures. The positive reviews from long-term clients suggest a professional and well-functioning environment that has fostered trust and satisfaction over the years. These clients highlight the clinic's competence and the staff's willingness to share their knowledge with pet owners, implying a communicative and potentially educational aspect to their consultations.
In terms of services, the reviews suggest a range of veterinary care provided by Riordan Dennis DVM. Long-term clients praise the "quality and reliability" of their service, indicating a consistent standard of care over time. The fact that these clients have recommended the clinic to friends and coworkers with new pets further suggests a belief in the comprehensive nature of their services, likely including routine check-ups, vaccinations, and treatment for various health issues. The positive experiences shared by those who followed these recommendations reinforce the idea of a clinic capable of delivering satisfactory veterinary care.
However, one detailed negative review presents a contrasting perspective on their services and operational policies. This review describes an attempt to seek care for a puppy with a severely injured leg, where the clinic initially stated they do not accept walk-ins and were hesitant to provide immediate assistance, despite the absence of other apparent appointments. While they eventually agreed to examine the puppy, the experience that followed raises concerns. The review mentions X-rays being taken without pain medication for the injured puppy, causing significant distress. Additionally, the quality of the X-rays was reportedly poor, rendering them unusable for a second opinion at another veterinary clinic, leading to additional costs for the pet owner. This account suggests potential limitations in their emergency or walk-in care policy and raises questions about their pain management protocols and diagnostic imaging quality in this particular instance.
In terms of features, the positive reviews highlight the knowledge and friendliness of the staff, as well as a genuine care for pets and their owners. The willingness of the veterinarians to share their knowledge is a valuable feature, empowering pet owners to be more informed about their animal's health. The long-term trust and high recommendations from satisfied clients suggest a clinic that has historically prioritized building strong relationships with its clientele based on competence and a caring attitude.
However, the negative review points to potential areas of concern regarding their walk-in policy, especially in cases of acute injury, and the approach to diagnostic procedures, particularly concerning pain management. The experience described also raises questions about the quality control of their diagnostic equipment, specifically the X-ray imaging in this case. These contrasting experiences suggest that while some clients have found the clinic to be knowledgeable and caring, others may encounter procedural or communication issues.

In conclusion, Riordan Dennis DVM (Riordan Vet Clinic) in Ankeny, IA, has received positive feedback from long-term clients who praise their knowledgeable and friendly staff and the quality of their veterinary care. However, a more recent review highlights significant concerns regarding their walk-in policy for urgent cases, pain management during diagnostic procedures, and the quality of their X-ray imaging. Mar 02, 2016 · M GI went in there because my new puppy had badly injured her leg and I just knew it was broken. So I asked them if they could just take a look. They told me they don't take walk-ins and wernt even going to help me. But they said that they had some time (there was no other person in there but me. I heard one other dog). The vet herself was nice though I didn't catch her name. They took xrays without pain meds and were moving her leg and fighting her as she wailed in pain for over 5 min. I felt so bad for my tiny puppy ( 5 lbs). Then the xrays were soo dark that I couldn't even see my dogs bones. But I thanked them and paid the 100 dollars for the xrays. They didn't do anything to help her leg. And I had to pay 175 dollars at a different vet because the xrays they gave me were so bad. And the other place gave her pain meds before doing xrays and fixed her leg for me. And the staff was super nice there. Will not be returning to ankeny vet
Jan 31, 2012 · Heather FosterI've been bringing my animals here for the past 10 years or so, and have nothing but great things to say about them. As someone who's had animals my entire life, I have been to a LOT of different vets, and this is among the best.
