Pressly Animal Hospital

I've owned dogs for 50 years. Pressley Vet is by far the best care I've ever experienced for my furbabies.

We rescued 3 very neglected and abused dogs. Through a local rescue, they were brought to Pressly Animal Hospital to be spayed and treated for heart worms. Dr. Pressly and staff have been so good to us all. We love the premises because it is very clean, and accommodating. House of Pearls is a non-profit that gives women in addiction a safe place to heal and restore their lives through Christ, and Dr. Pressly has supported our program. I highly recommend this amazing animal hospital.

We took our 6 month old puppy here for her spay and it was a great experience! Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very clean. I would highly recommend!

(Just quick disclaimer - I do not intend to harm anyone's business with leaving a negative review. I only feel obligated to do this as a warning for anyone else seeking similar treatment for their pet.) About 3.5 years ago I adopted a dog in Charlotte that had been receiving care from this clinic. Within several months my dog became very ill due to ingesting several objects before I had adopted him (pacifiers, toys, etc. lol he is a vacuum). I reached out to his rescue and they offered to pay for his exploratory surgery which was incredibly kind, but only if it was performed at this clinic. Little did I know that taking him here would end up costing me thousands more down the road. When I took my dog here to be examined, they quickly did x-rays to reveal a potential obstruction in his stomach. The doctor then just took my leash out of my hand and quickly put my dog in a crate and said “I'll call you when i’m done.” They gave me no explanation of what to expect and I just remember having the worst gut feeling leaving him here. The surgery went fine (**to my knowledge at the time) and they ended up removing a small piece of blue ish/green toy from his stomach. After his surgery, I took him back for a follow up visit because he was still acting weird- very lethargic, and having increased stomach issues (diarrhea, bloody stools, not wanting to eat etc). The dr took him back for an exam and told me “bullies are a dramatic and lazy breed, nothing is wrong he is fine.” (side note: They didn’t charge me for this visit which was nice). I ended up switching to a different vet in Charlotte and they were AMAZING. However, his stomach issues persisted and I probably spent upwards of 5k constantly having to take him for evaluations, medications etc because he never fully recovered from that surgery. Fast forward to now, my dog suddenly starts vomiting every day. It was only bile and usually early in the morning, so I wasn’t too concerned until he started not eating. Took him to the vet a few days later which began a slew of x-rays, exams, and treatments. He was given mineral oil to help pass whatever was potentially stuck in his stomach, and he got better for a few days, but then fell very ill shortly after. A few more x-rays and a barium study revealed that he had an obstruction in his lower intestines. When I got to the clinic to pick him up after surgery the doctor showed me what they recovered from his bowel and it was another piece of the SAME blue toy from his first obstruction surgery. And it was a drastically bigger piece than the one that was removed at Pressley. (and before anyone questions me- yes I am 100% sure it is the same toy, it was very distinct color and texture lol.) My current vet thinks that this toy has been in my dog’s stomach for the 3+ years, and that the mineral oil he was given helped it pass into his intestines where it then became obstructed. I just don’t understand how such a big piece of toy could’ve been left behind during the first surgery. I understand everyone makes mistakes and that this was probably just an accident but I have spent every last dime to my name trying to keep this dog alive because of this whole situation. I truly hope this clinic has improved and I have no hard feelings towards them whatsoever. I do not wish to harm their business by any means with this review. At least now all of the issues we’ve been trying to solve since his initial surgery make sense. Luckily he is only 4 and will hopefully make a full recovery. It has been a few difficult years but I’m excited to see his growth and happiness in the future now that he’s been taken care of and will be pain free.

The people here were friendly but my experience with them was terrible. I went in for an interview and was invited to shadow for a day to see how I liked the environment and atmosphere of the workplace. I loved it and I loved the animals, when I reached out about schools for furthering my education in veterinary sciences I received a response but when I reached out about the job opportunity I didn't receive any response whatsoever. I was very hurt considering I was given the impression that I had the job just to never hear back. They were great with the pets for the most part but as far as the treatment of their employees or potential employees can't say so much.
