Our first visit at P.A.W was efficient, professional, caring and perfect! The facility is easy to find and clean. Also MEGAN was phenomenal in answering ALL of our gazillion questions and getting us in and out with ease for getting our cat, Tai spayed! And the best part, there was no hidden fees as the other places. The price set over the phone is what we PAID and they were very reasonable. We will definitely recommend this place and use it in the future! Thank you for making a tedious process super comfortable and easy! 馃惥 January 2025

This level of empathy and patience is a hallmark of truly compassionate veterinary care and is crucial for building trust with both the animal patients and their human companions. Poughkeepsie Animal Wellness is everything we had hoped to find in a Veterinarian & support staff. From the moment of checking in for the appointment, to the time of checking out, the staff and Veterinarian were kind, loving, compassionate, and explained what to expect and needed care after Lucy's procedure. During her procedure until her operation was completed they made sure to keep us informed making a stressful situation easier. Our Lucy is home and back to herself! Thank you Dr. John, you and your staff are truly a find. Advice to anyone reading this review, this is where you want to bring your furbaby from well checkups to surgery. We live 1 1/2 hours away, despite the time & distance, we will never go anywhere else.

I recently got my bunny spayed at P.A.W, and unfortunately there were several issues I faced. When I first called the office, I spoke to this very kind receptionist who was very knowledgeable about rabbit spays and the operations they perform at the vet. She quoted me the price of $300 over the phone for the rabbit spay which is what is reported online. After the pre-surgical wellness exam, I was quoted $400 by a different receptionist (who verified the price with the veterinarian) which made me confused with the pricing. I called a day before the surgery to verify the price to make sure I won鈥檛 be up-charged, and I spoke to the original receptionist who said the spay will be $300. I told her the situation and she was confused. She checked with the veterinarian and stated that the spay will be $400. This made me feel like there was an up-charge for my bunny鈥檚 spay. Additionally, I felt overcharged for the pre-surgical wellness exam. The vet tech told me the veterinarian was in an emergency surgery, so he wouldn鈥檛 be able to come into the exam room. However, he said he can bring my bunny to the veterinarian so he can look at her as he steps out of the surgery. I didn鈥檛 meet the veterinarian, but he said she was clear for the spay. I got charged $80 for not seeing the veterinarian give my bunny a checkup. Luckily, on the morning of the surgery, the original receptionist intervened and refunded me the $80. I am very happy with her stepping in and providing me that refund. There was a lot of miscommunication with them about services I asked for. First off, I asked about rabbit vaccinations and they said they could order them for me to purchase, but the veterinarian does not feel comfortable administering the vaccine. I said that鈥檚 okay, and I would like them to order the vaccines. However, a few days later they said the veterinarian doesn鈥檛 feel comfortable ordering the vaccines. Also, I asked about post-surgery meds and they said they aren鈥檛 necessary but I can buy them if needed during recovery. I asked if they could write me prescriptions for them instead since I don鈥檛 live close by, and they said of course. After waiting for some time for the veterinarian to write the prescriptions, the receptionist told me he doesn鈥檛 feel comfortable writing them. Essentially, she told me the veterinarian only specializes in low-cost spays for rabbits and doesn鈥檛 feel comfortable ordering/administering vaccines or writing prescriptions for the surgery. I work at a pharmacy and I know written prescriptions are one of the most common forms of prescriptions we get from veterinarians, so I was very confused on why he didn鈥檛 feel comfortable writing them. I am grateful they offer low-cost neuter and spays for rabbits, and I understand the veterinarian doesn鈥檛 feel comfortable providing services outside his normal practice. However, I really didn鈥檛 appreciate being told I could get a service and then waiting to find out I can鈥檛.

I've been taking my dogs here since it was Compassion Vet. I wasn't sure if I'd stick around when the new practice owners took over, but they've been so wonderful, it was a seamless transition. Dr. Orban in particular has consistently gone above and beyond to treat and care for our pups. Such a wonderful guy. Great, compassionate staff as well!
