PLEASE DONATE!! This place is a saving grace to low income and needy fur family. In the past, when facing economic disaster, they have saved us. They gave me clothes, food, leashes, harnesses, crates, veterinary care, and medicine. Recently, I lost my little shit-zu to severe illness. I couldn't stand to look at all his things in the house without him here. I knew what I needed to do to honor my little guy's memory. We packed up everything mentioned above and dropped it at their offices on NE 82nd just after the Halsey overpass. He received the best care possible at Dove Lewis. They did everything they could. In the end, we had to make the worst decision a fur parent can ever make. He passed in my arms. Please Donate to PAWS if you find yourself with an empty place on the couch and emptiness in your arms. It's the best way to let your fur baby live on thru helping others.

Portland Animal Welfare Team Introduce
Welcome to the local introduction of the Portland Animal Welfare Team (PAWS), a unique and crucial organization located at 1718 NE 82nd Ave, Portland, OR 97220, USA. While categorized under the broader term of a Pet Hospital due to its provision of veterinary care, PAWS distinguishes itself by its significant focus on supporting low-income and houseless individuals and their beloved animal companions. This introduction aims to detail the environment (as inferred from its operations), services, features, and the profound impact PAWS has on the local community, as evidenced by heartfelt testimonials.
Although the provided information does not explicitly describe the physical environment of PAWS, its operations suggest a center that is both a service provider and a donation hub. The mention of dropping off items like clothes, food, leashes, harnesses, crates, veterinary care supplies, and medicine at their offices on NE 82nd indicates a location that serves as a collection and distribution point for essential pet and human necessities. This implies a functional space where donations can be organized and made accessible to those in need. While it may not have the traditional aesthetic of a for-profit veterinary clinic, the environment is clearly one of support, resourcefulness, and community aid.
The services offered by PAWS extend beyond traditional veterinary care, deeply rooted in addressing the challenges faced by low-income and houseless pet owners. A significant aspect of their service is the provision of essential supplies. According to a grateful recipient, PAWS has offered clothes, food, leashes, harnesses, and crates, demonstrating a holistic approach to supporting both the pet and the owner's well-being. This pet food bank and supply distribution function is a critical lifeline for individuals facing economic hardship, ensuring their animals have access to basic necessities.
In the realm of veterinary care, PAWS facilitates access to essential services, including providing veterinary care and medicine, as mentioned by a beneficiary who was supported during a past economic crisis. Furthermore, PAWS organizes a monthly clinic specifically for vaccinating dogs and cats and assisting with pet registration. This proactive approach to preventative care and legal compliance is invaluable for pet owners who may face barriers to accessing these services elsewhere. By offering these clinics, PAWS helps to ensure the health and safety of pets within vulnerable communities and promotes responsible pet ownership.
A key feature of PAWS is its dedication to serving low-income and houseless individuals. The organization understands the deep bond between people and their pets, regardless of their economic circumstances. By offering monthly assistance with three items of the owner's choice, PAWS empowers individuals to prioritize the most pressing needs for their animals. This client-centered approach acknowledges the unique challenges faced by this population and provides tailored support.
The impact of PAWS extends to providing compassionate support during times of profound loss. While the organization may not have directly provided the specialized care at Dove Lewis mentioned in one review, the fact that the individual chose to honor their deceased pet's memory by donating to PAWS speaks volumes about the trust and gratitude they feel towards the organization. This act of donation highlights the vital role PAWS plays in the community and how it serves as a meaningful way for pet lovers to give back and support others facing hardship.
The call to "PLEASE DONATE!!" in one of the reviews underscores the reliance of PAWS on community support to continue its crucial work. As a non-profit organization focused on assisting a vulnerable population, donations of funds and supplies are essential for PAWS to maintain its services and reach more pets and owners in need. This direct appeal from a beneficiary highlights the tangible impact of donations on the lives of both people and their animal companions.
The review also explicitly directs those who find themselves "low income, houseless etcetera" to seek help from PAWS, emphasizing the organization's role as a direct service provider for this demographic. The mention of their website as a source for additional information encourages those in need, as well as potential donors and volunteers, to learn more about PAWS's mission and activities. The statement "I trust them with my precious Roscoe" is a powerful testament to the reliability and care provided by PAWS.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information in the traditional sense for PAWS, such as discounts or special offers. However, the very existence of PAWS and its services acts as a form of crucial community support for low-income and houseless pet owners in Portland. The "promotion" here is the availability of these vital resources – pet food and supplies, monthly support, and low-cost vaccination and registration clinics – to a population that might otherwise have limited access to them. The ongoing need for donations is implicitly a call to the local community to support this essential service.
In conclusion, the Portland Animal Welfare Team is more than just a Pet Hospital; it is a lifeline for low-income and houseless individuals in Portland, OR, and their beloved pets. While it may offer veterinary care services, its core mission extends to providing essential pet supplies, facilitating access to vaccinations and registration, and offering crucial support during times of need. The environment is one of community support and resourcefulness, driven by the generosity of donors and the dedication of those involved. For local users in Portland who are facing economic hardship and need assistance caring for their pets, PAWS offers a beacon of hope and practical support. The testimonials speak to the profound impact of this organization on the lives of both people and animals, making it a vital part of the Portland community. To support their invaluable work, consider donating or visiting their website for more information.
