At Portland Animal Hospital, we pride ourselves on offering a broad spectrum of veterinary services designed to cater to the diverse needs of your pets throughout their lives. From routine wellness exams and preventative care to more specialized treatments, our experienced veterinary team is equipped to provide the highest standard of medical attention. As a comprehensive Pet Hospital, we offer:

Preventative Care: We believe that proactive healthcare is crucial for maintaining your pet's long-term health and happiness. Our preventative care services include routine check-ups, tailored vaccination protocols based on your pet's lifestyle and risk factors, parasite prevention (including heartworm, flea, and tick control), and nutritional counseling to ensure your pet is receiving the optimal diet for their age and activity level. We understand that each pet is unique, and we take the time to develop personalized wellness plans to address their individual needs.

Diagnostic Services: When your pet is unwell, accurate and timely diagnosis is essential. Portland Animal Hospital is equipped with modern diagnostic tools to help our veterinarians effectively assess your pet's condition. These may include in-house laboratory services for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal examinations, as well as digital radiography (X-rays) to visualize internal structures. These capabilities allow us to quickly obtain valuable information to guide our treatment decisions.

Medical Care: Our skilled veterinarians are experienced in diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions affecting pets, including infectious diseases, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory problems, and more. We are committed to providing compassionate and effective medical management to help your pet recover and maintain a good quality of life.

Surgical Services: Portland Animal Hospital offers a range of surgical procedures, from routine spays and neuters to more complex soft tissue surgeries. Our surgical suite is equipped with modern anesthetic monitoring equipment to ensure your pet's safety and comfort during procedures. Our experienced veterinary surgeons adhere to the highest surgical standards and provide thorough post-operative care instructions to facilitate a smooth recovery.

Dental Care: Oral health is an integral part of your pet's overall well-being. We provide comprehensive dental services, including routine dental cleanings under anesthesia, dental examinations, and treatment of dental diseases. Maintaining good oral hygiene can prevent pain, tooth loss, and systemic health issues in your pet.

Emergency and Urgent Care: While we encourage routine appointments, we understand that pet emergencies can happen. Portland Animal Hospital is equipped to handle urgent and emergency cases during our regular business hours. Our dedicated team is prepared to provide prompt and critical care when your pet needs it most. However, for after-hours emergencies, we may recommend contacting a dedicated emergency veterinary facility to ensure your pet receives immediate specialized attention.

Client Communication and Education: We believe that informed pet owners make the best decisions for their animals. At Portland Animal Hospital, we prioritize clear and open communication with our clients. Our team will take the time to explain your pet's condition, discuss treatment options, and answer any questions you may have. We are committed to providing you with the knowledge and resources you need to actively participate in your pet's care.

A Caring and Compassionate Environment: We understand that visiting the veterinarian can be stressful for some pets (and their owners!). Our team strives to create a calm and welcoming atmosphere in our clinic. We handle all our patients with gentleness and respect, aiming to make their experience as comfortable as possible. We believe in building strong relationships with our clients and their pets based on trust and empathy.

What Our Clients Are Saying:

Based on feedback from our valued clients, it's evident that Portland Animal Hospital is committed to providing excellent care. One client shared, "They were absolutely amazing. They worked my puppy in on a Saturday. Gave great care. Texted me later to check on him." This positive feedback highlights our responsiveness and dedication to patient well-being, even following up after the visit.

However, it's important to present a balanced perspective based on all available information. Another client's experience suggests a different perspective regarding immediate care without a prior examination. They mentioned, "Took my dog here Saturday cause the prescriptions we got from the nashville veterinary specialists. You could see he wasn't in good condition and they lady at the front desk just kept telling me they need to do their own exam and blood work. That they had opens all next week and next Saturday." This review indicates a policy of requiring their own examination and blood work before providing treatment, even with prior prescriptions from another specialist. It also suggests potential limitations in immediate availability for non-emergency situations without a prior appointment or their standard protocol.

Our Commitment to You and Your Pet:

At Portland Animal Hospital, we are dedicated to providing quality veterinary care tailored to the individual needs of each pet. We continuously strive to improve our services and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in veterinary medicine. Our goal is to be your trusted partner in ensuring your pet's health and happiness for years to come.

We encourage you to contact us at (615) 325-6453 or +1 615-325-6453 to learn more about our services or to schedule an appointment. We look forward to welcoming you and your beloved pet to the Portland Animal Hospital family.

My dog is extremely sick and in need of certain medications. They turned my dog away because they wanted to do their own exam even though we have records of my dogs exams and diagnosis. Edited to add: my dog died

Cleaned my dogs teeth in Feb. Took her in to meet her new vet a few weeks later. He said there's an infection in her mouth. Her teeth need to be cleaned again and have an extraction.

This place doesn’t just care about the animals but people too. I really appreciate all the help I have had with my cat Ella. The people who work here are very kind and are in it for the passion and not just money. They had opportunities charge me for a lot more then they did and that’s kindness and integrity that is rare. So thankful for them. I’ll be sure to take all my pets here in the future.
