I took my dog Todd in for abdominal swelling. I was given the worst possible news, dilated cardiomyopathy, for which there is no cure. I Sat there crying like a baby. I had very little money and they were as understanding and compassionate as any veterinary office I have ever seen. The doctor explained everything to me and explained there are meds than can help his condition to buy us a little more time together. As any pet owner will tell you, every extra day is a blessing. I am happy to say that 3 days later, the meds have helped him remove the bulk of the swelling and he's back to playing like a puppy. I know our days are numbered, however as long as he feels good and is living his best life, I won't quit on him. I suspect we will know when it's time for goodbye. Until then, he's got boat rides planned and adventures in the making. I cannot thank the staff of Port City Veterinary enough for their professionalism and a caring for my pet that is genuine and true. They are open 24/7 and I cannot recommend them enough.

May 05, 2025 · Colleen Rankin-WheelerOur girl who is 11 now has recently came into arthritis in her hips. We typically go to York animal Hospital in York, Maine (also 5 stars) but we were on a time crunch and couldn’t get into our normal vet as we are moving across the country tomorrow so Port City got us in and helped make our old girl much more comfortable! We have unfortunately, had several trips to Port city throughout the years for both of our girls and every time we are so thankful for their team, their empathy, kindness, honesty is above and beyond!!! We will miss our vets!!
Apr 21, 2025 · Renée RaicheBrought my sweet 16 year old kitty in because she had a seizure. The staff was super sweet. Thank you to the vet assistant/tech that sat with me to get all the information she needed to properly treat Scarlett. My emotions were high and she was very calm and understanding. The Doctor was very informative and I appreciate his demeanor when telling me what to expect and what may have been the cause. My concerns were answered and the team was very efficient. Scarlett received extraordinary care and I am extremely grateful. ❤️
May 19, 2025 · Katie WinslowI cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Cassodis and the team at Port City vet. My dog needed eye surgery, and from the very first consult, I knew we were in the best hands. He made me feel completely at ease with all the concerns I had leading up to surgery and after. He came out and greeted me before Jasper went into surgery and he came out and greeted me after the surgery. The surgery was a complete success and his postoperative care was exceptional. My dog sees better now than he did before. I have my dog back. What a gift! The entire staff was kind and compassionate, and an extra shout out to Margaret, who helped me with a lot of pre and post opp questions/concerns. She even came in to meet us on her day off. If you’re in need of a veterinary ophthalmologist, who is the best in my opinion, look no further. It was worth every penny. I will be forever grateful!
Mar 24, 2025 · Wendy JalbertExcellent animal hospital. I went there after my 12 lb dog was attacked by my neighbors 80 lb dog. They triage care and saved my dog’s life. I felt the surgeons’ treated my dog as if he were their own.i highly recommend MRVH if you need emergency care. You can see below the post-treatment photos.
