My first time here, and I can’t recommend them enough! Truly a caring group of people, who really care about the animals they treat. We brought in a stray cat we took in that had a bad tail injury and needed a general check over. Every employee we encountered here seemed invested and cared deeply about the animal and how they were recovering. He’s doing great now and can’t thank them enough.

Apr 16, 2025 · Richard DummThey will overmedicate your pet for a procedure, and claim it is a normal response to anesthesia. They prescribed 3 Trazadone and 3 Gabapentin for our dog to take at home before going in for a simple skin tag removal procedure. This procedure required anesthesia in addition to those 6 pills. We were able to get our dog to take 5 of the 6 pills. After taking those 5 pills, our dog wasn’t even able get himself off of our floor or down our stairs before taking him in for surgery. I can’t imagine the state he would’ve been in had he taken the 6th one. When we picked him up from the vet after his surgery, he was in even worse condition. Our dog did not recognize us at all and showed zero reaction to any stimuli. They will give as many excuses as they can come up with to pacify, instead of taking accountability. We made them aware of our concerns at the follow-up appointment and they replied with, “Well, he should be on 3 Trazadone right now for suture removal”. Our concerns were completely dismissed, and instead met with the proposal of more medication. The entire experience and their nonchalant attitudes were terrifying and traumatic. I will never trust any doctor at this establishment with any sort of procedure or pet care again. Our two dogs will be going to a more compassionate and knowledgeable vet from now on.
Feb 20, 2025 · Audra McCallIf you have dogs who are anxious about the vet, Pleasant Hills was the best place to take them! I’ve been going to Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital for 7+ years, and I was blown away by the staff’s fear free approach to appointments. The level of patience, kindness, calm, and assurance my dogs were treated with was unlike any vet office I had ever been at before. No one ever forced my dogs, restrained my dogs, or scared my dogs into doing anything that they weren’t comfortable with. Dr. Mihalic, Dr. Albanese, and all of the techs were all on board with the low stress handling practices and ensured that every experience my dogs had at the office was positive. One of my dogs has even worked with the onsite behaviorist, Rachel, who is AMAZING. Over the course of a few months, he went from a dog that wouldn’t even get out of the car at the vet, to a dog that not only jumps out of the car and walks in the door, but also walks into all of the rooms, through all of the hallways, and lets himself be fed and handled by vets and techs, all while on a much lower dose of the drugs than he needed before. That said, I’m incredibly sad to hear about the closure of Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital next month. I sincerely hope that all of the fear-free practices that made me so grateful to Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital will make their way over to the new office as a part of the transition, so that I will feel equally as comfortable bringing my dogs to the new practice as I did to Pleasant Hills!
Mar 25, 2025 · Caroline LipplTony is always treated well, and the vet always answers all of my questions. With all of his medical issues, he has received the utmost of care and I am very grateful for your staff and vets for treating him well and with patience, and for basically helping me to keep him alive and with me still.
