While the majority of feedback regarding Platte Valley Veterinary highlights the compassionate care provided by Dr. Winn and the team, as reflected in one customer's positive experience, it's important to acknowledge that online reviews can sometimes present a mixed perspective. This review raises concerns about diagnostic accuracy, transparency in billing, communication practices, and the sensitivity of handling personal items during a difficult time. It is crucial for Platte Valley Veterinary to address these concerns and ensure that all clients receive the highest standard of care and communication.

Moving forward, Platte Valley Veterinary can focus on reinforcing its commitment to accurate diagnoses through rigorous protocols and continuous training. Enhancing communication with pet owners regarding diagnostic procedures and associated costs before they are incurred is essential for building trust and preventing misunderstandings. Please buckle in because this is my personal “can I speak to the manager?”/Karen moment. I have recommended Platte Valley to multiple friends and family because I found them to be honest and fair. Until that unfortunately bit me in the bum. Relevant to the issue, but not a huge part - I had to put my 15 year old pitbull mix down in March. My husband and I brought her into PV because it needed to be done quickly as our girl was in pain. She was wrapped in a towel that smelled like our other dog and asked that they cremate her with said towel. This is relevant - please hold. Okay now to the issue - my children have begged for years for cats, I now have two. We have a six month old little female black kitten that one day was leaking milky, smelly, yellow discharge. I noticed it immediately and ran her to PV and they said they were booked but would work on squeezing her in; they did which I was very thankful for. They told us she had severe vaginitis and needed to be fixed immediately. We were then handed a $630 bill where they ran every single test, they didn’t call me once to approve and later on we found out they misdiagnosed her. You’re telling me you had to sedate a 6 pound kitten? Yes, six pounds. Sedation, blood tests, urine test, x-ray - and your results were still wrong? Ain’t no way. Feeling like we just paid a total shakedown we booked with another vet who neutered our male cat so the records had to be transferred. The other vet called us the day of the kittens spay and told us “the records say they suspect pyometra, but didn’t diagnose her as such?” They didn’t, as previously stated. I had no clue because PV didn’t send home ANY care information just a receipt. I asked a couple questions and it seems as though one simple test would have easily diagnosed her - blood OR urine, both of which she received and yet here was another vet diagnosing our cat by just looking at her discharge. I called PV to ask what happened there and why we were charged for multiple tests when one would have provided conclusive results. I have given them 4 working days and they have not called. This is it. My “Karen” moment. I cannot fathom sending off an animal when you are a vet with the wrong diagnosis - pyometra is life threatening. I just need to understand how that wasn’t diagnosis #1. When we got our cat back my children carefully took her out, and I noticed she was wrapped in a blanket I did not send her with. It actually wasn’t a blanket at all. It was the towel we had wrapped my pitbull in. Disappointed, saddened and overall shocked by the lack of care and response. Please do better, for the love of the animals if nothing else.

After a cut to my dogs paw on a late Sunday, I had nowhere to go but to an emergency pet hospital in Greeley. I'm glad I brought my dog a few days later to this vet for clean up and re bandage. Had some trouble at home, and the staff went above and beyond with help early in the morning and still saw my dog later that day. I have to say, I was impressed with the doctor and the team. This is my first veterinary, so I don't know about comparing. But what they show me is their care and expertise. They made me feel comfortable and helped my pet when I needed them. Thank you to the great people working at Platte Valley Veterinary.
