Plateau Animal Hospital's mission is rooted in providing high-quality medicine and surgery with a caring attitude, delivered by a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Their core values of Honesty, Compassion, Dedication, and Excellence guide their daily operations and service to pets and their guardians. This commitment is deeply embedded in their practice, aiming to keep pets safe and healthy throughout their lives, from routine preventative care for young, healthy animals to early detection and treatment of diseases as pets age, along with complete medical, surgical, and emergency care when necessary.
The driving force behind much of Plateau Animal Hospital's acclaimed service is Dr. Lisa Jividen, affectionately known by clients as "Dr. Lisa." She assumed ownership of the hospital in July 2012 and has since led it to achieve and maintain accreditation from the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). AAHA accreditation signifies that the hospital adheres to the highest standards of veterinary excellence, encompassing every aspect of its operation from patient care and pain management to facility maintenance and staff training. Dr. Lisa's background, raised on a small farm and having served in the US Army Veterinary Corps, instilled in her a profound sense of duty and care for animals. She is certified in Echocardiograph and Abdominal Ultrasound and is passionately committed to providing "gold-standard veterinary care" with a Fear-Free© Certified experience, aiming to reduce stress and anxiety for pets during their visits. The team also includes other skilled veterinarians like Dr. Dan Brogdon, a board-certified ophthalmologist who conducts monthly eye clinics, and Dr. Jennifer Kolb and Dr. Sarah Brown, both focusing on companion animal care with special interests in areas like preventative care, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and ultrasonography.
As a comprehensive "Pet Hospital," Plateau Animal Hospital offers an extensive list of services to address the diverse needs of pets:
- Preventative Care: Emphasizing annual wellness visits, proper life stage nutrition, and vaccinations to proactively maintain pet health.
- Surgery: Performing all routine surgeries and a wide range of non-routine procedures. They also offer cryosurgery and electrosurgery for small mass removals and can refer pets to specialists for complex cases.
- Dentistry: Professional dental cleanings using ultrasonic scalers, hand scaling, polishing, and extractions when necessary, all performed under inhalation anesthetic with careful monitoring.
- Radiology and Ultrasound: Equipped with in-house radiographic and ultrasound capabilities for diagnostic work-ups.
- Senior Care: Focused on managing aging changes and detecting treatable diseases early through exercise, healthy diet, regular checkups, and annual blood work screens for conditions like diabetes, liver, kidney disease, and anemia.
- Boarding: Offering boarding for cats and dogs in a safe environment, with limited space that fills quickly, especially during holidays.
- Emergency Services: Dr. Lisa Jividen is available for emergency situations specifically for current clients, providing instructions for contacting the veterinarian during urgent times.
- Specialty Services: Including ophthalmology clinics by Dr. Dan Brogdon for ocular disease diagnosis and treatment.
The environment at Plateau Animal Hospital is consistently highlighted by clients as exceptionally pleasant and comforting, not just for pet owners but, crucially, for the animals themselves. The enthusiastic review mentioning that "my little guy Ziggy absolutely loves everyone there. He gets so excited to go to the vet, literally drags me inside" is a powerful testament to the positive atmosphere. This indicates a highly pet-friendly environment where fear and anxiety are minimized, largely due to the staff's gentle approach and genuine affection for animals. The descriptions of Dr. Lisa being "so very compassionate when dealing with my fur babies in her speech and her touch, so very gentle," along with praises for her "whole team" being "great to deal with," paint a picture of a welcoming, empathetic, and professional setting. The hospital's commitment to Fear-Free© Certification further underscores its dedication to creating a low-stress environment for pets. This nurturing atmosphere is paramount, ensuring that even potentially stressful veterinary visits become positive experiences.
Key features that truly distinguish Plateau Animal Hospital include its AAHA accreditation, Dr. Lisa's Fear-Free© Certification, and the universally praised compassion and professionalism of the entire staff. The AAHA accreditation is a significant differentiator, as it voluntarily holds the hospital to stringent quality standards that often exceed state regulations. Dr. Lisa's compassionate and gentle demeanor, as echoed in multiple reviews, ensures that pets receive care delivered with genuine affection and respect. The staff's collective commitment to treating animals as "family members" provides immense peace of mind for owners. The ability to provide comprehensive care, from preventative medicine and routine surgeries to advanced diagnostics (radiology, ultrasound, echocardiograph) and specialized services like ophthalmology, positions them as a highly capable medical facility. Furthermore, the availability of emergency services for current clients adds a crucial layer of support for pet owners. The high level of client satisfaction, leading to "highly recommend" endorsements, is a direct result of these outstanding features.
Promotional information for Plateau Animal Hospital is implicitly and powerfully conveyed through its consistent positive client testimonials and its commitment to recognized industry standards. The fact that pets like Ziggy "literally drag" their owners inside is perhaps the most authentic form of promotion, demonstrating genuine trust and comfort from the animal's perspective. The enthusiastic endorsements for "Dr. Lisa" and the entire team, praising their compassion, experience, and the "best care," serve as compelling word-of-mouth marketing. The hospital's AAHA accreditation is a significant promotional point, reassuring pet owners of the high quality and safety standards adhered to.
