This review is quite overdue, but had to take some time processing our tough loss of our sweet Daisy of 14 years. I also wanted to make sure I wasn't making this review out of pure anger and disappointment. Daisy had been having some heart issues over the past year or so, but one weekend in January, her abdominal area swelled up significantly and she would have a hard time breathing. We've taken Daisy here over the years, and while my mother would call repeatedly and share Daisy's concerns in January, they didn't call her back and when they finally did and examined her, they just mentioned it can happen w/ her heart condition (heart murmurs) & told us to stop giving 1 of the medications they prescribed her and sent her home. Nothing was improving, we went with our gut to get a 2nd opinion with Dr. Dhanoa at Yorba Pet Care Center, and in just 1 day he was able to give us a thorough assessment, recommended draining fluid (he removed ONE ENTIRE LITER OF FLUID) from her abdominal area making her more comfortable. He shared the risks, and ran further tests and that is how we found out she had a huge mass on her liver & heart. We had to take her to the ER for an ultrasound, in which she ended up having to stay for a few days hooked up to oxygen because of how reliant she was on it. The mass ended up being Hemangiosarcoma, very aggressive cancer and her prognosis was only a few days to weeks at most. We had to make the unbearable decision to put her down so she wasn't struggling so much, but truthfully, if we didn't go to Dr. Dhanoa -- Daisy would have simply been struggling so bad and the mass, not could have, WOULD HAVE, bursted, causing her immense pain right before passing away. The vet here at Placentia Veterinary Clinic completely acknowledged it wasn't normal to see her breathing that way & how swollen she was, and they didn't think to run additional tests. They didn't even look into removing fluid like the other vet. Seeing all that Daisy faced, I am in complete disbelief that they didn't cover their bases to see what else could be going on with her & instead just sent her home. I can understand times get busy, they deal w/ consistent stressed & emotional pet owners day in and day out, but we are completely trusting you and our pet under your care ESPECIALLY in times of their older ages. Daisy's passing & her cancer absolutely couldn't have been prevented by the vet here, however, I do strongly believe that if they had put in more care for her and took our concerns more seriously, it wouldn't have happened in the manner it did and we could've taken better care of Daisy and she wouldn't have had to spend her last days hooked up to oxygen in an unfamiliar hospital. If we could've been more proactive of this, we would have taken any possible necessary step to make her last days with us more comfortable, and we weren't given that chance. Recommend this vet for very basic concerns (allergies, etc) but absolutely wouldn't go here if you have any serious concerns. Please trust your gut with your pet and get another opinion.

Placentia Veterinary Clinic Introduce

Placentia Veterinary Clinic, situated at 234 Yorba Linda Blvd, Placentia, CA 92870, serves the local community as a "Pet Hospital Near Me." Based on recent customer feedback available online, experiences with this clinic appear to vary. While one reviewer expresses profound grief and disappointment regarding the care their elderly dog received during a critical health issue, another highlights positive experiences with routine procedures and the current veterinarian and staff.

One detailed account describes the challenging experience of a pet owner whose 14-year-old dog, Daisy, presented with significant abdominal swelling and breathing difficulties. Despite a history of heart issues, the owner's repeated calls regarding these new and concerning symptoms reportedly did not result in a timely response. When Daisy was finally examined, the reviewer states that the clinic attributed her condition to her existing heart murmur, discontinued one medication, and sent her home without further investigation, such as fluid removal or additional diagnostic tests. The owner, trusting their instincts, sought a second opinion at another veterinary center where a large amount of fluid was drained from Daisy's abdomen, providing immediate relief. Subsequent tests at the second clinic revealed a large mass on Daisy's liver and heart, diagnosed as Hemangiosarcoma, a very aggressive cancer with a poor prognosis. The reviewer expresses the belief that a more thorough investigation at Placentia Veterinary Clinic might have allowed for more proactive care and potentially made Daisy's final days more comfortable, even though the cancer itself could not have been prevented.

This detailed negative experience raises concerns about the clinic's approach to diagnosing and managing complex or rapidly progressing conditions, particularly in older pets. The reviewer specifically recommends Placentia Veterinary Clinic for "very basic concerns" such as allergies but advises against seeking their care for serious health issues, urging pet owners to trust their gut and seek second opinions when necessary.

In contrast, another recent review offers a positive perspective. This pet owner shares their experience of having two rescued kittens spayed/neutered at Placentia Veterinary Clinic. They express satisfaction with the current veterinarian, who they describe as a "sweetheart" with their pets. The support and office staff are also commended for being "very nice and supportive." This reviewer, despite living a distance away in Irvine, feels that the level of care and treatment provided at Placentia Veterinary Clinic is worth the drive, indicating a strong sense of trust in the current team and the quality of care their pets receive for routine procedures.

Considering these contrasting experiences, it is challenging to provide a definitive assessment of the environment and overall services of Placentia Veterinary Clinic. The positive review suggests a friendly and supportive atmosphere, particularly under the care of the current veterinarian and staff. The negative review, however, paints a picture where communication and thoroughness in diagnosing serious conditions may have been lacking at a certain point in time. It is possible that changes in personnel or protocols may have occurred, contributing to these differing opinions.

Based on the available information, the services offered at Placentia Veterinary Clinic likely include routine wellness exams, vaccinations, and spay/neuter surgeries, as mentioned in the positive review. The negative review implies that they also handle cases involving underlying health conditions and prescribe medications. However, it raises questions about the clinic's capacity or approach to managing complex or emergency situations and the thoroughness of their diagnostic procedures in such cases. It is unclear from the provided information whether they offer advanced diagnostic imaging, in-house laboratory services beyond basic tests, or specialized surgical procedures beyond routine sterilization.

Features of Placentia Veterinary Clinic that can be inferred from the reviews include a friendly and supportive office staff, as noted by the positive reviewer. The mention of a veterinarian who is perceived as caring ("sweetheart with my pets") suggests a compassionate approach to animal care. However, the negative review highlights a potential lack of proactive investigation and communication in more serious cases. It is important for potential clients to consider both perspectives when evaluating the clinic's features.

No specific promotional information is available in the provided reviews. Veterinary clinics often offer introductory discounts for new clients, seasonal specials on preventative care (like flea and tick prevention), or packages for routine procedures. To inquire about any current promotions or special offers at Placentia Veterinary Clinic, it is recommended to contact them directly by phone at (714) 528-3145 or mobile phone at +1 714-528-3145. Visiting their location at 234 Yorba Linda Blvd, Placentia, CA 92870, USA, may also provide additional information about their services and any ongoing promotions.

In conclusion, Placentia Veterinary Clinic in Placentia, CA, appears to be a facility with varying levels of reported customer satisfaction. While some clients appreciate the friendly staff and the care provided for routine procedures like spay/neuter, as well as the current veterinarian's approach, other experiences highlight significant concerns regarding the handling of serious or complex medical conditions. Potential local users should consider these differing viewpoints and may wish to inquire further about the clinic's current protocols, diagnostic capabilities, and approach to managing critical health issues before entrusting them with the care of their pets, especially those with pre-existing conditions or presenting with serious symptoms. It may be prudent to have detailed discussions with the clinic about their specific services and approach to different types of medical situations to ensure they align with your pet's needs.

They are the best! I’ve had both of my (rescued) kittens “fixed” with Placentia Veterinary Clinic. I feel the current Vet that took over for Dr Evans is a sweetheart with my pets. The support & office staff are all very nice and supportive as well. Even though it’s a ways from my home (in Irvine), I still feel it’s worth the drive to get the level of care and treatment. I feel my pets are getting the best possible care available and that’s worth so much ❤️‍🩹😻

My 4 Daschunds have been patients of Placentia Veterinary Clinic since 2000. Dr. Evans and Dr. Debbie Casaveres have treated me and my dogs with the very best care and professionalism. Dr. Casaveres has carried on Dr. Evans caring and loving attitude since his recent retirement. They are truly the best people to entrust my dog's health care to. Many times have I brought my pups into their office and walked out without being charged. They truly make having pets very affordable. I know that hey care for my pets healthcare more than making a buck. I cannot describe how happy I am with them. I am always recommending them to other pet owners. Please, keep up the good work and personal attention . You are truly appreciated by many of your clients.

The staff here is very sweet! I really appreciate that they don't force you to do unnecessary tests and they actually feel way more reserved compared to most vets that immediately suggest a billion expensive tests. They're also happy to offer surface level support over the phone too. I thought my cats ate chocolate one day (turns out they didn't) and they walked me through what to watch out for over the phone. Most other vets would immediately tell me to bring in my cats for X, Y, Z testing etc. They were very affectionate with my cat when they saw her. :)

The best place to take your pet for care! I've been taking my pets there for 15 years now. Dr. Debbie Cassabear is the lead veterinarian. She is so good at what she does. She really loves animals and really cares for your pet. The staff is fantastic! They are all very kind and take great care of your pet as well. The prices are very reasonable. I love Placentia Vet! Thank you for taking such great car of our pets.
