We began going to Pine Woods after getting our kitten, Tony, from Standish Humane. Right from the start, we liked the atmosphere of the clinic and really felt Dr. Johnson and her staff cared for Tony and did everything to make him as comfortable as possible. What we could not have known during our initial visit in the fall, was that Tony would develop a very rare feline disease (FIP) that was 100% fatal in cats until just recently. Although this is a disease that is extremely hard to diagnose, Dr. Johnson suspected it from the first few minutes of our recent visit. She sensitively informed us of all of the possibilities and led us through the steps she would recommend for testing/ruling out other ailments. She advised us of the cost of each step and she gave us the options of where we could try a less expensive step first and where we could do more comprehensive testing if we chose to go that route. Dr. Johnson met with us, and spoke with me by phone, several times over the last two weeks. She was always patient and thoughtful in her responses and it was evident that she was doing research on this disease and the new treatments that are now available in the U.S. Ultimately, all of the tests she ran determined that her initial impression was correct and Tony does have FIP. Dr. Johnson was able to connect us with a pharmacy that delivers his medication directly to us and--miraculously--Tony is responding beautifully! Within two doses Tony was eating and drinking, playing, and acting like himself again. I do not believe that all veterinarians would have been able to make that diagnosis so quickly (it is very tricky and is truly a diagnosis of exclusion). What I do know is that as I have researched this diagnosis, everything that Dr. Johnson explained to us and every test she recommended were exactly what is considered the most up-to-date and accurate information on this rare disease. We are beyond thankful for Dr. Johnson's expertise and caring! The facility is clean and welcoming, the staff is kind and friendly, and they provide top-notch care close to home at an affordable cost. Tony is our miracle kitty and we will be forever grateful for the care he has received at Pine Woods.

Apr 30, 2025 · Renee DonohueWe have just had our second visit to Pine Wood Animal Hospital with our 14 week old Dachshund puppy and could not be happier! Dr Johnson is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain all the vaccines and meds she was administering to our pup. Also Pine Woods pricing is very competitive and you do NOT feel like you are being taken advantage of hence the 5 stars!
Jan 07, 2025 · Katharine WhiteDr. Johnson was excellent as our new vet for our 2 Miniature Schnauzers as our previous veterinarian is retiring after our many years with him. Dr. Johnson spent significant amount of time with us on our meet and great first appointment. Her grasp of the nutritional needs for the dogs was great. We have started a better diet for both dogs with a few supplements to help with our older dog that have show very good results! Unfortunately the older dog has had a few dental issues that we were aware of and Dr. Johnson took the time to show us the x-rays and she extracted the offending teeth. All went very well and he's doing fine. We are sorry that our previous vet retired but are more than pleased with our new vet and more importantly our dogs are happy with her also.
Feb 05, 2025 · Kenneth GoldbergDr Johnson is absolutely incredible. Pine Woods is local to us and we brought our golden retriever, Cooper, several days ago for an urgent appointment - Dr Johnson was so kind and knowledgeable and took her time explaining different aspects of his health that had been dismissed or inaccurately diagnosed by our previous vet. We changed vets on the spot and couldn’t be more delighted with her care. Thanks to her, Cooper is a much happier boy now, too! Highly recommend Pine Woods.
