We love the staff and vets at Pierce Veterinary. They are so patient with our skittish rescue Bella. They don’t push her out of her comfort zone and she has made great progress since taking her in last March. Our big boy Duke loves everyone he meets and vocally expresses that but they don’t mind. No vet has ever minded Duke once they see past his size and that he just wants to be their friend. We also have cats that they are really good with. I recently had to have our old boy Kirby put down because he was incurable and wasting away. That was incredibly hard but the staff and vet were so caring about it and gave me extra time with him before hand. A couple of weeks later I received the most beautiful sympathy card from the clinic that made me cry again. It was such a loving gesture that I was not expecting. I could tell that it was as hard on them than it was on me. I don’t know how they deal with the grief we feel but also that unfortunate duty to recommend and then follow through with. They deserve more commendation than we give them.

This detailed introduction aims to provide local users with an objective and comprehensive overview of Pierce Veterinary Clinic, encompassing its environment, extensive services, distinguishing features, and any available promotional information, leveraging insights from direct customer feedback and online resources.

The environment at Pierce Veterinary Clinic is consistently described by clients as welcoming, clean, and compassionate. While specific architectural or interior design details are not widely available, the underlying theme from customer reviews points to an atmosphere where both pets and their owners feel comfortable and cared for. The clinic appears to foster a calm and patient approach, particularly noted in interactions with anxious or "skittish" rescue animals. This dedication to a low-stress environment is crucial for veterinary visits. The staff's demeanor, described as "very caring and passionate," contributes significantly to the overall positive and supportive atmosphere, especially during sensitive times like end-of-life care. This suggests that the physical space is complemented by a deeply empathetic human element, making it a comforting place for animals and their families.

As a leading facility in the 'Pet Hospital' category, Pierce Veterinary Clinic offers an extensive array of services and goods for sale, catering to both small and large animals. Their services encompass fundamental preventive care, including routine wellness examinations and a full range of vaccinations essential for protecting pets from various diseases. They also provide microchipping services for identification and safety. Beyond preventive medicine, the clinic is equipped for a wide spectrum of diagnostic and treatment procedures. This includes an in-house laboratory with capabilities for complete blood counts (CBC), blood chemistry profiles, thyroid testing, urinalysis, and fecal sample analysis, allowing for quick and accurate diagnoses. Digital radiography (X-rays) is available for high-quality imaging, which can also be easily shared with specialists. Dental care is a significant offering, vital for oral health, including cleanings and potentially more complex procedures. Surgical services are also provided, encompassing routine operations like spaying and neutering, as well as various advanced procedures.

A notable offering for large animal clients includes specialized care for equine, bovine, and small ruminants, reflecting their designation as a mixed animal practice. This broad scope ensures that farmers and livestock owners in the Ellsworth area have access to essential veterinary support for their working or production animals. For pets used for breeding, the clinic offers OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) certification radiographs for hips and elbows, a crucial service for preventing hereditary joint diseases in future generations. In addition to medical services, the clinic likely offers various veterinary-approved goods for sale, such as prescription diets, parasite prevention medications, and other essential pet care products, ensuring convenience for clients.

The distinguishing features of Pierce Veterinary Clinic primarily revolve around its highly compassionate and dedicated team, as consistently highlighted in customer testimonials. The staff, from the front desk to the veterinarians and technicians, are praised for their patience, understanding, and genuine care for animals. Real customer experiences attest to the clinic's ability to handle diverse animal personalities, from "skittish rescue" dogs to "vocally expressive" large boys, always prioritizing the animal's comfort. A profound feature is their exceptional handling of difficult situations, particularly humane euthanasia. The reviews deeply underscore the empathy and support provided during these painful times, allowing ample time for grieving and even sending heartfelt sympathy cards, which speaks volumes about their commitment to the emotional well-being of their clients.

The expertise of the veterinary team is also a significant feature. Dr. Frank During, the clinic owner, brings extensive experience from Germany and the US, having purchased the clinic in 1998 and overseeing the construction of a new building in 2004, indicating a commitment to modern facilities. Dr. Becky Behrendt specializes in small animal medicine, with a passion for feline medicine, veterinary dentistry, and surgery. Dr. Abbey Butler, from a dairy farm background, also focuses on small animals and has a special interest in behavior, striving for low-stress visits. This diverse team of veterinarians, supported by certified veterinary technicians, ensures a wide range of expertise and a holistic approach to animal care. The clinic’s commitment to staying updated with technology and diagnostic equipment is also a feature, as evidenced by their digital radiography capabilities.

While specific, time-limited promotional offers are not always readily available on general business listings, Pierce Veterinary Clinic, like many modern veterinary practices, likely utilizes various strategies to engage with clients. Their online presence suggests an online pharmacy, which often comes with its own promotions such as coupons and instant discounts on popular pet brands, as well as the convenience of AutoShip for recurring medication or food needs. Buying from their online pharmacy also helps clients support a local business. Although not explicitly stated as a promotion, their comprehensive care and compassionate approach, as highlighted by loyal customers, serve as a powerful form of organic promotion through word-of-mouth referrals. The clinic's accessibility at 707 N Brown St and direct contact via phone at (715) 273-4632 or mobile +1 715-273-4632 facilitate easy access for current and prospective clients seeking their services.

Had to put one of the fur babies down. Very sad for my wife and I. The staff at the clinic were very caring and passionate towards us and our pet. They let us stay as long as we wanted to grieve the loss of our pet. Our pet is in a better place, with no more pain for her. I can't say enough about how good we were treated. Can't say Thank You enough

Veterinary staff and Vet were all very wonderful. Really clean entrance. They really took care of both the pet and the person with such kindness.

I have used Pierce Vet for four years since moving to the area. I have lots of animals (cats, dogs, and horses) and the vets and the staff have all been fantastic to deal with. In emergent situations they will allow me to drop off a pet and squeeze them in to make sure the animal gets prompt attention. They are all very helpful and are kind and compassionate when I have had to deal with end of life for some of my pets. I highly recommend them to anyone.

This is an old review that never posted for some reason. They were great for all of my beagles shots and such. However, they wanted me to mildly sedated my dogs for nail trimming (and this isn't with a groomer, this was with vet tech's) They told me that they only wanted my dogs comfortable. I started taking my dogs to the humane society in Red Wing. I never had to medicate them for nail trimming again. They were happy going in for their trimming and happy coming out afterwards. It was always quick (so they obviously weren't fighting with them) and less expensive than going to pierce vet and not nearly as rude either. So for vet care.....sure. Basic things like nail care (with a vet tech) no. I would never again.
