I cannot say enough good things about this place took my cat topher to Philips and he ended up having a urinary blockage that he had to stay for two nights on a catheter. They were the sweetest and most caring people I’ve met and explained every step to me and my husband. Most affordable vet I’ve came across ever. I will be taking all my animals here until the day they close their doors:)

Phillips Small Animal Clinic Introduce
Welcome to Phillips Small Animal Clinic, a Pet Hospital located at 19855 John T Reid Pkwy, Scottsboro, AL 35768, USA. Serving the Scottsboro community, Phillips Small Animal Clinic aims to provide veterinary care for small animals. The limited information available from online reviews presents a stark contrast in customer experiences, with one client expressing immense satisfaction and another alleging a severe negative outcome. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on the available information.
One customer shared an overwhelmingly positive experience when they brought their cat, Topher, to Phillips Small Animal Clinic for a urinary blockage. They described the staff as "the sweetest and most caring people I’ve met" and praised them for thoroughly explaining every step of Topher's two-night stay with a catheter. This level of communication and empathy is highly valued by pet owners during stressful times when their animals are unwell. Furthermore, this client found Phillips Small Animal Clinic to be the "most affordable vet I’ve came across ever," highlighting a significant potential benefit for budget-conscious pet owners in the area. Their positive experience was so strong that they stated their intention to bring all their animals to this clinic indefinitely, indicating a high level of trust and satisfaction.
However, a single but extremely serious negative review presents a drastically different perspective. This reviewer alleged that their dog was harmed during a visit for an ear infection. According to their account, the dog went in with healthy eyes but was returned with "bulging and blood red" eyes. The stark contrast between the initial reason for the visit (an ear infection) and the severe alleged outcome (eye trauma) is deeply concerning. The accusation of the dog being "strangled" is a grave allegation that, if substantiated, would indicate a severe lapse in care and potentially harmful handling of the animal. This review stands in stark opposition to the positive experience shared by another customer, making it difficult to form a singular positive or negative assessment of the clinic based on these limited and conflicting accounts.
Given the limited information and the conflicting nature of the reviews, it is challenging to definitively describe the typical environment of Phillips Small Animal Clinic. The positive review suggests a caring and communicative atmosphere, while the negative review implies a potentially unsafe environment for animals. Without further information or a larger sample of reviews, it is impossible to ascertain which experience is more representative of the clinic as a whole. Prospective clients may wish to inquire about the clinic's facilities, staff training, and safety protocols to form their own judgment.
Based on the general nature of a small animal clinic and the specific case mentioned in the positive review (treatment of a urinary blockage), Phillips Small Animal Clinic likely offers a range of essential veterinary services, which may include:
- General Wellness Exams: Routine check-ups to assess your pet's overall health.
- Vaccinations: Administering necessary immunizations to protect against common diseases.
- Parasite Prevention: Providing medications and advice on preventing fleas, ticks, heartworms, and other parasites.
- Diagnosis and Treatment of Illnesses: Addressing various medical conditions affecting small animals, as indicated by the treatment of the urinary blockage and the attempted treatment of the ear infection.
- Urinary Issues: Management and treatment of urinary problems, including blockages, as highlighted in the positive review.
- Ear Infection Treatment: Addressing common issues like ear infections, which was the reason for the visit in the negative review.
- Minor Surgical Procedures: While not explicitly mentioned, small animal clinics often perform routine surgeries. The treatment of a urinary blockage might involve catheterization, which could be considered a minor procedure.
- Medication Dispensing: Providing prescribed medications for various conditions.
- Basic Diagnostics: In-house testing or referral services for common diagnostic needs. The diagnosis of a urinary blockage would likely involve some level of diagnostic assessment.
The positive review specifically mentions the clinic being "most affordable vet I’ve came across ever," indicating that affordability may be a notable feature for clients. This could be a significant factor for pet owners seeking quality care on a budget. However, promotional information in the traditional sense (e.g., discounts for new clients, seasonal offers) is not provided in the reviews. Local users may wish to inquire directly about pricing and any potential cost-saving measures offered by the clinic.
In conclusion, Phillips Small Animal Clinic in Scottsboro, Alabama, presents a mixed picture based on the limited online reviews. One client reported a highly positive experience characterized by compassionate care, clear communication, and affordability. However, a serious negative review alleges harm to a pet during a routine visit. Prospective clients should be aware of these contrasting accounts and may wish to seek additional information or consider these points when making decisions about their pet's veterinary care. It would be prudent to inquire directly with the clinic about their environment, services, staff qualifications, and safety protocols to form a more comprehensive understanding of the care they provide.

Feb 07, 2025 · Katelyn AikenThey strangled my dog! He went in for an ear infection with his eyes fine and when they brought him back out to me his eyes were bulging and blood red!
Oct 31, 2024 · Allison CarterThey are really good place to take your animals, good prices and excellent services they provide I give them a 15/10
Mar 19, 2025 · Jacque ThaxtonI need to share my experience. A year ago I brought my dog and displaying increased thirst and weight gain. $400 worth of bloodwork and all she could come up with was he’s in pain and gave me pain pills. Fast-forward to 2025 I’d bring my dog in displaying the same symptoms but now he’s become weak and peeing in the bed. She gives me more pain pills. And tells me to come back on Monday. He might have celiac disease, but it being Friday. They were going to close soon. Saturday he became lethargic. I loaded him up in the car and took him in at 10:30 PM to Huntsville 24 hour hospital. He was diagnosed with having diabetes and pancreatitis. I believe he had diabetes in the beginning. A simple blood test would’ve confirmed that diagnosis, but she didn’t even catch it The first time and again the second time. They’re wonderful if all you need is flea and tick medication or their rabies shots but if your animal is sick, do your animal a favor and take them somewhere else
Mar 21, 2025 · diane kennedyLove them all.🫶 Great service, dependable, they care about your dogs and do all they can to help them. Only thing that I wish was different is I am not able to go back with my animal when the vet checks him. Susie and Doolie Miller
