I can't say enough good things about the service and staff at Pet Lovers Animal Hospital. I took my dog in recently for stomach issues. The whole staff was super attentive to me and my pup. They immediately greeted me with a smile and had my poor doggo being seen by Dr. Casillas asap. They went over each detail of treatment with me, and i felt super comfortable knowing they knew exactly what they were talking about and doing. Thank you, Dr. Casillas and staff for taking care of my pup!

Welcome to Pet Lovers Animal Hospital Long Beach

For pet owners in Long Beach, California, and the surrounding areas, Pet Lovers Animal Hospital, located at 5211 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA 90805, USA, operates as a local "Pet Hospital" providing veterinary care for their animal companions. They can be contacted via phone at (562) 349-0000 or their mobile number +1 562-349-0000. This introduction aims to provide a detailed overview of the animal hospital based on the available customer reviews, highlighting the different perspectives on their service, staff, and treatment approaches.

One pet owner shared a highly positive experience at Pet Lovers Animal Hospital. They brought their dog in for stomach issues and were impressed by the attentiveness of the entire staff. They specifically mentioned being greeted with a smile and their dog being seen promptly by Dr. Casillas. The reviewer appreciated the detailed explanation of the treatment plan, which made them feel confident in the care their dog was receiving. They expressed gratitude to Dr. Casillas and the staff for their excellent care.

However, another customer had a significantly negative experience when they brought their lethargic and non-eating kitten to Pet Lovers Animal Hospital as their regular vet was unavailable until the next day. This reviewer reported that Pet Lovers Animal Hospital could not provide a diagnosis for their kitten's condition. They also expressed concern about being told that treatment options would be based on their budget. The reviewer felt pressured by a story shared by the hospital staff about another cat that died after the owner declined "full treatment," leading them to believe the hospital was trying to scare them into paying a substantial $1200 fee. The reviewer had to specifically ask for their kitten's temperature to be taken. They also noted the absence of diagnostic procedures like ultrasound or X-ray and that no IV fluids were administered despite the kitten being described as dehydrated.

Due to these concerns, the reviewer opted to wait and see their regular veterinarian the following day, leaving Pet Lovers Animal Hospital with only a nutrition and hydration supplement that cost $80. They were relieved they followed their instincts, as their regular vet immediately performed an ultrasound, ruling out a surgical obstruction. The regular vet also administered IV fluids, conducted blood tests, and diagnosed a likely infection based on the symptoms, providing antibiotics on the spot. The reviewer received clear instructions for home care, and their kitten began to feel better quickly. The total cost at their regular vet was $140.

This customer, who typically does not write reviews, felt compelled to share their unsettling experience due to the stark contrast with the care they receive from their regular veterinarian. They emphasized the significant difference in diagnostic approach, treatment provided, and cost between the two clinics.

Considering these two contrasting reviews, the environment and services at Pet Lovers Animal Hospital appear to be perceived differently by different customers. The positive review highlights an attentive and caring staff, particularly mentioning Dr. Casillas, and a comfortable experience with clear communication regarding treatment for a dog with stomach issues. In contrast, the negative review portrays a situation where a critical condition in a kitten was not promptly or adequately diagnosed, with concerns raised about the emphasis on cost-based treatment and potential scare tactics. The lack of standard diagnostic procedures like ultrasound and X-ray in the case of the lethargic kitten is also a significant point of concern.

The features of Pet Lovers Animal Hospital, based on these reviews, seem to include the availability of consultations and treatment for various pet health issues. The mention of Dr. Casillas suggests a specific veterinarian working at the hospital. However, the discrepancy in diagnostic approaches between the two described cases raises questions about the consistent availability and utilization of advanced diagnostic tools. The hospital appears to offer some level of immediate care, as the kitten was seen on the same day without an appointment, but the quality and thoroughness of that initial assessment are called into question by the negative review.

There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in learning about any special offers, new client discounts, or specific programs offered by Pet Lovers Animal Hospital would need to contact the clinic directly via phone or visit their location.

For local users seeking a "Pet Hospital" in Long Beach, CA, Pet Lovers Animal Hospital presents a mixed picture based on these two customer experiences. While one pet owner reported excellent and attentive care, another described a concerning situation involving a potentially critical condition that was not adequately addressed, coupled with worries about the clinic's financial priorities and diagnostic thoroughness. These contrasting accounts underscore the importance of considering multiple perspectives when evaluating a veterinary care provider.

Local pet owners might consider contacting Pet Lovers Animal Hospital directly to inquire about their diagnostic capabilities, treatment protocols for various conditions, and their approach to cost discussions. It may also be beneficial to ask about the qualifications and experience of their veterinarians and staff. If possible, an initial consultation to discuss their pet's specific needs and the hospital's approach could provide further clarity. Given the serious concerns raised in one of the reviews, it would be prudent for pet owners to feel fully confident in the hospital's diagnostic and treatment capabilities before entrusting them with their pet's health, especially in urgent situations.

In conclusion, Pet Lovers Animal Hospital in Long Beach, CA, has received both positive feedback regarding attentive and informative care for some conditions, as well as significant concerns about the diagnostic approach and treatment recommendations in other cases. Local pet owners should carefully consider these varying experiences and conduct their own due diligence, including direct communication with the hospital, to determine if Pet Lovers Animal Hospital is the right choice for their pet's healthcare needs.

i don’t recommend this place. i took my kitten here because she wasn’t eating and very lethargic. i couldn’t take her to my usual vet because they didn’t have availability until the next day and I was worried. pet lovers couldn’t tell me anything that was wrong- and told me that treatment would be based on my budget. they also told me that someone brought their cat in the other day and didn’t opt for the “full treatment” and the cat died- i immediately felt like they were trying to scare me so that I wouldn’t question it and leave my kitten there to pay the full 1200 dollars. i had to ask for her temperature, there was no ultrasound or x ray, and no iv fluids were given to her even though they said she was dehydrated. I opted to just wait until the next day to go to my regular vet- and walked away with a nutrition and hydration supplement ($80.) i’m so glad i followed my gut and just waited to see my regular vet. there, they immediately did an ultrasound and determined there wasn’t any sort of obstruction (so no need for emergency surgery.) they also gave her an iv right away, and took her blood for a test. my vet determined that it was probably an infection based on her symptoms, and gave her antibiotics on the spot. they sent me home with clear instructions, and my kittens already feeling better. and the total was… $140! i never write reviews because i mostly believe people are good and prefer to do honest business even if they have off days. but my experience was unsettling and so drastically different than my go-to vet, that i feel compelled to share.

I took my dog to Pet Lovers for GI related issues and they quickly saw us as a walk in. I’m always hesitant to bring her in to any vet because she gets anxious but this experience was honestly so pleasant. The vet was able to examine and treat her without issue and worked with me for a treatment plan. The entire staff was so friendly and it’s clear everyone loves their work and pets. I’m definitely coming back.

Everyone at this clinic was very kind except for one particular lady whose name I believe is Elisa. She loves to tell people that their pet is gonna die to up-charge based on fear. I was waiting for more than 2 hours and witnessed other patients being told their pet should be euthanized or that they won’t make it past a few months. She of course told me my pet might not make it but unfortunately for you Elisa, my pet is fine after all these years. You need some serious help.
