Dr. Lopresto is the bees knees! He examined my sick fish, ran diagnostics, and helped me come up with a treatment plan to get him better. I feel fortunate that there are top notch aquatic veterinarians within driving distance. The visit was well worth the 2 hour drive. For those that can’t make the drive there is an option for telemedicine consult in certain states.

Welcome to Pet Fish Doctor

Pet Fish Doctor, located at 4580 Crackersport Rd, Allentown, PA 18104, USA, is a unique "Pet Hospital" specializing in the veterinary care of fish. They can be reached at (610) 391-1200 or their mobile number +1 610-391-1200.

As a specialized aquatic veterinary service, Pet Fish Doctor offers expert diagnosis and treatment for sick fish. According to customer reviews, Dr. Lopresto is highly knowledgeable in this relatively niche field. Services mentioned include examinations, diagnostics, and the development of treatment plans for various fish ailments.

A significant feature of Pet Fish Doctor is their accessibility, even for those located outside of the immediate area. One customer who drove two hours for a consultation felt it was well worth the journey, highlighting the scarcity of top-notch aquatic veterinarians. For individuals in certain states who cannot travel to the Allentown location, Pet Fish Doctor also offers telemedicine consultations, expanding their reach and service availability.

Customers have praised the responsiveness and care provided by the staff. One reviewer recounted an instance where, despite having no immediate appointments, the clinic offered a standby option and accommodated them on the same day. The communication regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and realistic prognoses was also appreciated. Even in a case where the pet fish did not survive, the owner found value in receiving a clear explanation for the illness and guidance on managing other tank inhabitants.

Furthermore, the billing was described as reasonable and even a bargain compared to general veterinary bills, especially considering the specialized knowledge provided. Overall, Pet Fish Doctor appears to be a highly recommended "Pet Hospital" for fish owners seeking expert veterinary care, offering both in-person consultations and, in some areas, telemedicine options.

After my second fish (Telescope Eye) showed similar symptoms to the first one (Fantail) that passed away a month prior, I was desperate for an answer because I was unsatisfied with the first diagnoses from a vet located in Philly. I called the Pet Fish Doctor in Reading to schedule an appointment for my dying Telescope. Even though they had no availability at the time, they offered to put me on "standby" in case of any cancellations. Lo and behold, one was available in the afternoon and I was there within an hour. After they took my pet in for diagnose, the vet explained that the rapid deterioration may have been caused by a neurological bacteria - which was not even brought up by the other vet. We discussed type of treatments available and he was frank with us about the success rate for each method. He was also honest with us about not holding any high hopes and informed us about what we should do with other pets sharing the same tank enclosure. The doctor and staff were both respectful and courteous. I felt that Dr. Lopresto was very knowledgeable in a relatively exotic field. Even though my fish didn't survive (I didn't expect it to), I got an answer about what was causing a mass slaughter in my tank which gave me the closure that I needed. The bill that I received was very reasonable and dare I say, a bargain, compared to other bills I've paid for a vet with less aquatic animals knowledge. I would not hesitate to come back to this place again even though it's an hour away for any of my fish care.

I learned so much from my fish's visit. Getting husbandry advice from a highly trained and educated professional vs a hobbyist on the internet was worth every penny and then some. Dr. Palmeiro took the time to answer all of my questions with great detail. I'm very lucky to have a fish vet within driving distance, this is an amazing resource for fishkeepers who care about their pets and are looking for ways to improve their fishkeeping.
