Dr. Clark and his staff are wonderful! My one- year-old cat fractured his right femur. Even though we’re from out of town, Dr. Clark worked Paulie into his surgery schedule quickly and gave him excellent care. His staff is courteous and efficient. Thank you so much!

Welcome to Pet Care & Surgery Center

Pet Care & Surgery Center, located at 1404 E 4th St, Pittsburg, KS 66762, USA, functions as a "Pet Hospital" dedicated to providing veterinary care for pets in the Pittsburg community and surrounding areas. They can be reached via phone at (620) 308-6454 or mobile at +1 620-308-6454. As a facility that includes "Surgery Center" in its name, it indicates a focus on providing both general veterinary care and more specialized surgical procedures for animals.

As a "Pet Hospital," the primary objective of Pet Care & Surgery Center is to diagnose, treat, and prevent illnesses and injuries in companion animals. This encompasses a broad spectrum of services designed to support the overall health and well-being of pets throughout their lives. The presence of Dr. Clark, mentioned positively in a customer review, suggests a qualified veterinarian leading the medical care provided at the facility.

The environment at Pet Care & Surgery Center, based on the nature of a "Pet Hospital" and customer feedback, would be structured to facilitate medical procedures and patient care. A typical veterinary facility would include a reception area for check-ins, examination rooms for consultations, a laboratory for diagnostic testing, and a dedicated surgical suite. Given its specific mention as a "Surgery Center," it implies well-equipped facilities for performing various operations with appropriate anesthesia and monitoring equipment. The facility would also likely have recovery areas for animals post-surgery or for those requiring hospitalization. Reviews, both positive and negative, offer insights into the operational environment. One positive review highlights the staff as "courteous and efficient," which contributes to a professional and organized environment. Conversely, a negative review describes a potentially stressful environment for pets, particularly during grooming, where a dog experienced pain and fear. This suggests that while medical facilities may be present, the handling and overall patient comfort in certain areas could be a point of concern for some clients.

The services offered at Pet Care & Surgery Center, as a "Pet Hospital" and "Surgery Center," would typically include a comprehensive range of veterinary medical and surgical services for pets. These services generally encompass:

  • Routine Wellness Exams and Preventative Care: This includes regular check-ups, physical examinations, and vaccinations (e.g., rabies, distemper, parvovirus) to prevent common diseases. The negative review mentions a "yearly physical exam," indicating this is a standard service.

  • Diagnostic Services: Likely includes in-house laboratory testing for blood work (e.g., complete blood counts, chemistry panels), urinalysis, and fecal exams for rapid results. Imaging services such as X-rays (radiography) would be available, particularly important for diagnosing fractures as mentioned in a review.

  • Surgical Procedures: A significant aspect of their service given the name. This would include common soft tissue surgeries such as spays, neuters, and mass removals. The positive review specifically mentions Dr. Clark performing surgery for a fractured femur, indicating expertise in orthopedic or complex surgical cases.

  • Dental Care: While not explicitly detailed beyond "nails done" in a negative context, a comprehensive pet hospital usually offers dental cleanings and extractions.

  • Pain Management: For post-surgical recovery and chronic conditions.

  • Microchipping: For pet identification and reunification.

  • Grooming Services: As indicated by the negative review focusing on nail trimming, the center appears to offer some grooming services. However, the experience described highlights potential issues with the execution and pet comfort during these services.

  • Treatment for Illness and Injury: Addressing a variety of acute and chronic health conditions, infections, and injuries.

The features of Pet Care & Surgery Center can be viewed through the lens of varied customer experiences. A notable feature is the ability of Dr. Clark and his team to handle significant surgical cases, such as a fractured femur, and to do so efficiently and with what was perceived as "excellent care," even for out-of-town patients. This highlights their capability in managing complex medical situations. The staff being described as "courteous and efficient" by a satisfied client also points to a positive organizational aspect. The willingness to "work Paulie into his surgery schedule quickly" demonstrates responsiveness to urgent needs. However, a contrasting feature emerges from the negative review, which points to potential inconsistencies in patient care and customer service. The concern regarding the superficial nature of a "physical exam" and the extremely painful nail clipping incident, coupled with what was described as rude and dismissive staff behavior, highlights a significant area of concern for client communication, empathy, and consistent quality of care. The negative review emphasizes a perceived lack of care for animals beyond financial transactions, contrasting sharply with the positive experience of another client. This suggests that while the medical capabilities might be strong, the overall client and patient experience can vary significantly depending on the specific service or interaction.

Promotional information for Pet Care & Surgery Center would typically emphasize their surgical capabilities, particularly their expertise in handling complex cases, as demonstrated by the femur fracture surgery. They would likely highlight the professionalism and efficiency of Dr. Clark and his staff. Marketing materials might focus on "excellent care" and the ability to accommodate urgent appointments. However, given the contrasting reviews, a balanced and transparent approach to promotion would be beneficial. They might also promote routine wellness visits, vaccinations, and other preventative care services as foundational to pet health. Any promotional efforts would need to address the importance of comprehensive care, not just surgical intervention. For local users, the convenience of their Pittsburg location and direct phone access would be key points. Without more consistent positive feedback across all service areas, they would benefit from focusing on their strengths (like surgical expertise) while actively working to ensure all aspects of their service, including routine care and client interactions, meet a consistently high standard of empathy and professionalism. The stark contrast in reviews suggests that while they can deliver excellent results in some critical areas, maintaining consistent positive experiences across all touchpoints, especially client communication and routine procedures, is crucial for their overall reputation as a trusted "Pet Hospital."

A while back I took my dad's dog to this horrible place to get his yearly physical exam and his nails done. All the vet did was feel my dad's poor dog up and look at us. Said that he was perfectly healthy. Okay, when I was in Maine an my aunt took her dog to the vet for her yearly physical the vet actually did a physical exam on her. Now after my dad had his dog's physical exam done, he had the same place do his dog's nails. They clipped his nails so short that they were close to the quip and bleeding. He yipped in pain, howled like he was asking for help and came out of the groomers office covered in dog pooh because he poohed himself out of fear. When we had asked what happened to our poor baby for him to hope and howl in pain. They didn't answer us. Just said let's make an appointment for his next nail appointment and physical exam. When we said no that we are going somewhere else. They just rolled their eyes at us. We left with our dog shaking and crying. He had tears in his eyes. By the time we got him home he was still crying. I had to give him a bath. We then got him a treat and let him relax. This place does not care about animals at all. All they care about is getting paid. So I highly recommend people to take their fur babies somewhere else. Somewhere where the vet and staff actually care about their patients. This place is horrible and not good at all.

My kitten just had her first vet visit here and it couldn’t have gone better. She’s usually very anxious with new people but he made her feel really calm and explained things really well! Also, not expensive like a lot of local vets.

I brought Bear in for grooming, and a nail trim, and I love how they cut his hair. I always receive good customer service, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Attached are “before and after” pictures. Love it!
