(Just so everyone knows I am a real person who received treatment for my dogs at this place, my name is Matthew Carr and the most recent visit was on October 26, 2024): I’m not sure how anybody would give this wonderful place anything lower than five stars! It blows my mind and it makes me think that other people just expect vets to instantly fix every animal no matter what. So far I have had three of my dogs go to this clinic and all three of them, even the one that had very minimal chances of making it through the night, survived. On top of that, when I went back the next time with a different dog, the entire staff recognized me immediately Asked me how my other dogs were doing and treated the dog. I had with me quickly and efficiently. Yes it’s a little expensive and yes there’s a wait (which is one of the dumbest reasons I’ve read so far as to why people don’t like this veterinary clinic… Medical care is expensive and sometimes other people who are more serious and hurting; you won’t get to go first !!) but I’d rather go somewhere and wait a little bit to get excellent service then go anywhere and get a vet who just doesn’t care with a team that is ineffective and unresponsive. These wonderful workers have literally saved three pieces of my heart, and I have no idea what I would’ve done if I had lost any of them because of some dumb or unqualified person pretending to be a good vet compared to at this clinic where you genuinely know, they care and are educated) I promise I’m not being overly dramatic and I promise I’m not being paid to see this, but I am not going anywhere else for an emergency vet need!! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart and my dogs paws!!! And the craziest part three hours after coming back from the ER my little guy who never wants to go for a walk anyway requested a walk immediately! His brother (who you also saved after he had green poisoned by eating a Lilly leaf) was soooo happy to have him back. Thank you all. Seriously.

Based on feedback from pet owners in the area, Peninsula Animal Referral Center appears to be a facility with a strong focus on critical and emergency care. One reviewer, Matthew Carr, shared a heartfelt experience detailing how the clinic successfully treated three of his dogs, including one with a very low chance of survival. He praised the staff's attentiveness, recalling how they recognized him on a subsequent visit and provided efficient care. While acknowledging that the services can be "a little expensive" and that there might be wait times, he emphasized the value of the "excellent service" and the genuine care and expertise of the veterinary team. He explicitly stated his intention to return for any future emergency veterinary needs, highlighting the life-saving care his pets received.

Another pet owner who visited the clinic with their injured Shiba Inu reported a moderate wait time. Their feedback on the staff was neutral, describing them as not rude but also not particularly friendly or compassionate. This reviewer also noted a practice of taking the pet out of the exam room for vitals and examinations without the owner present, which they did not appreciate. Regarding costs, they found the service fees to be within expected ranges but pointed out a significant markup on medications (100%). The total cost for their visit, including X-rays, amounted to $700.

Considering these firsthand accounts, Peninsula Animal Referral Center operates as a Pet Hospital that likely specializes in handling more complex and urgent medical cases. The environment seems to be one where efficiency and expertise in critical care are prioritized. The positive review emphasizes the dedication and skill of the veterinary professionals in saving animals' lives and providing attentive follow-up care. The mention of potential wait times suggests that the clinic may handle a significant volume of cases, particularly emergencies, which can sometimes lead to delays. This is a common characteristic of busy emergency veterinary facilities where the urgency of cases dictates the order of treatment.

The services offered at Peninsula Animal Referral Center, based on the reviews, include emergency veterinary care, diagnostics such as X-rays, and medication dispensing. The positive review implies a comprehensive approach to treatment, including thorough examination and potentially advanced medical interventions necessary for critical cases. The experience of the Shiba Inu owner confirms the availability of diagnostic imaging services like X-rays as part of their offerings. As a Pet Hospital, they likely provide a range of other essential veterinary services, although these are not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. These could typically include routine check-ups, vaccinations, surgical procedures, laboratory testing, and disease management, depending on the full scope of their practice.

A key feature highlighted by the positive review is the apparent expertise and dedication of the veterinary and support staff. The reviewer felt confident in their education and genuine care for the animals. The ability to recognize returning clients and inquire about the well-being of their other pets suggests a level of personal attention and a caring environment. While the second review offered a more neutral perspective on staff friendliness and expressed a concern about examination procedures occurring outside the owner's presence, the overall impression from both reviews points to a focus on delivering necessary medical care.

Regarding promotional information, none was explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the strong positive testimonial from Matthew Carr serves as an indirect endorsement of the quality of emergency care provided at Peninsula Animal Referral Center. His willingness to return for future emergencies speaks volumes about his trust in their capabilities. For local users in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, while Peninsula Animal Referral Center is geographically distant, understanding the experiences of pet owners at this facility in the USA can provide insights into the standards and types of care one might expect from a dedicated Pet Hospital specializing in referral and emergency services. When seeking similar services locally, it's beneficial to look for clinics that also demonstrate a commitment to thorough diagnostics, experienced staff, and a focus on the well-being of their animal patients, especially in critical situations.

In summary, Peninsula Animal Referral Center in Yorktown, VA, appears to be a Pet Hospital that excels in emergency and critical veterinary care. They offer services such as diagnostics (including X-rays) and medication. A significant feature is their experienced and dedicated staff, who have been credited with saving the lives of pets. While costs may be higher and wait times possible, particularly for emergency cases, the quality of medical care seems to be a priority. Some pet owners might have preferences regarding the presence of owners during all examinations and may find the staff's demeanor to be less overtly friendly. However, for pet owners facing serious health issues with their animals, Peninsula Animal Referral Center is presented as a place where expertise and a commitment to the animal's survival are paramount.

My Shiba Inu sustained an injury while visiting. The wait time wasn’t very long. The staff weren’t rude but they weren’t very friendly either, lacked compassion. I didn’t like that they take your pet out of the exam room to do vitals and be examined by the vet and not in my presence. Price for services was as expected except they marked up the medications by 100%. Overall cost for visit that included X-rays was $700

Highly recommend! Clean facility, extremely friendly staff (front and back of house), and in-out quick! I believe the vets name was Christian and he was great. We have a 10month old Pitt puppy who is full of energy and they handled her great! She had to have an injection and fluids (she looked like a little blue camel) and acted like she didn’t want to leave. Thanks for helping (Looney Tunes) Luna!

I feel like most of the bad reviews are upset that these vets can't work miracles. And that's true, but that's okay. The staff here is kind and compassionate, the attentive care my cat received during his final days was all we needed. I know that everyone here is doing their best, and that matters a lot to me. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

I had to take my Babygirl to the emergency room on Monday March 11, 2025, and didn't realize how sick she was until Dr.Lapp explained everything to me. He did everything for her with medication to send her home and told me to get in touch if she was not improving. Everyone was very nice and sympathetic towards me and my furbaby. Unfortunately she didn't improve and i had to put her to sleep. I was deeply moved to receive a sympathy card signed by everyone that we came in contact with, for that i am grateful to everyone. Thank you so much for everything
