Over Easter weekend my family was out of town with our dog who has a failing heart and had a very rough Friday night. Saturday morning we reached out to 3 local veterinarians and Pecan Grove is the only one who called us back (totally understandable for Easter weekend). We made an appointment to put our dog down. However, all day Saturday he got better. When we called again, we got another call back and the doctor was very kind and understanding about not coming in. While we did not end up using their services, the doctor we spoke with helped us make the right decision, was willing to help, and was very kind throughout. If we need help again, they will definitely be our first call.

Welcome to Pecan Grove Veterinary Services

For residents of Llano, TX, and the surrounding Texas Hill Country, **Pecan Grove Veterinary Services** stands as a dedicated and adaptable "Pet Hospital" that extends its care far beyond the typical household companion. This facility is a full-service mixed animal veterinary practice, meaning it is uniquely equipped to handle the health needs of both small animals (like dogs and cats) and large animals (such as horses and various livestock). Located conveniently at 4010 TX-29, Llano, TX 78643, USA, Pecan Grove Veterinary Services is a vital resource for the diverse animal community in the area. You can reach them directly at (325) 216-3010, which also serves as their mobile contact number, crucial for their on-call and mobile services.

The **environment** at Pecan Grove Veterinary Services, while not explicitly detailed in terms of physical layout, is characterized by a commitment to compassionate and honest care. As a mixed animal practice, their facilities are designed to accommodate a range of animals, from small pets brought into a clinic setting to large animals requiring on-site care. The very nature of a "mixed animal" practice implies a robust and versatile environment capable of handling various species and their unique requirements. Customer reviews offer insights into the staff's approach, with one highly positive experience noting that "the doctor was very kind and understanding" and "willing to help, and was very kind throughout." This suggests a patient-centered and empathetic environment, crucial for dealing with sensitive situations such as end-of-life care. Their aim is to provide "the highest quality veterinary care available" while treating "each patient compassionately and promise honesty and dependability." This philosophy likely shapes the overall atmosphere of their practice, fostering trust and comfort for pet owners and animal handlers alike. While specific amenities of the clinic building itself are not provided, their ability to deliver care for both small and large animals implies adequate infrastructure, including potentially separate areas for different species to ensure comfort and safety.

The **services** offered by Pecan Grove Veterinary Services are comprehensive, catering to the diverse animal population of the Llano area. Their status as a mixed animal practice means they provide a broad spectrum of veterinary care. Key services likely include:

  • Small Animal Care: This would encompass routine wellness exams, vaccinations, preventative medicine (e.g., parasite control), dental care, general surgery, internal medicine, and diagnostic services (e.g., blood work, imaging) for dogs, cats, and possibly other small pets. They are equipped to handle common ailments and injuries for companion animals.

  • Equine Services: Given the prevalence of horses in Texas, Pecan Grove Veterinary Services offers specialized care for horses. This typically includes lameness evaluations, preventative care (e.g., vaccinations, deworming), dental care, reproductive services, and emergency care for equine colic or injuries. Their website indicates professional memberships in organizations like the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the Texas Equine Veterinary Association, underscoring their expertise in this area.

  • Livestock Services: As a mixed animal practice, they provide veterinary care for various livestock, including cattle, sheep, and goats. This would cover herd health management, preventative medicine, reproductive services, and treatment for illnesses specific to food and fiber animals. Their association with the American Association of Bovine Practitioners further confirms their commitment to bovine health.

  • Emergency Services: The review mentioning a call during Easter weekend for a dog with a failing heart, and another about a sick horse needing emergency care, indicates that they provide emergency services. Their contact information specifies an emergency protocol where pressing 1 when calling will forward the call to the doctor on call. They prioritize active clients and patients for emergency services, with farm call emergencies limited to a 50-mile radius from the clinic, requiring haul-in for those outside this range. This demonstrates a structured approach to critical care.

  • Mobile Veterinary Services: Pecan Grove Veterinary Services explicitly states they are a "fully equipped mixed animal veterinary practice based in Llano, TX" and provide "mobile veterinarian serving Llano & surrounding areas." This means they can perform veterinary care at the client's location, particularly valuable for large animals who are difficult to transport. This service extends to communities like Kingsland, Marble Falls, Burnet, Cherokee, San Saba, Valley Spring, Pontotoc, Brady, and Fredericksburg.

Their comprehensive and mobile offerings make them a highly adaptable and essential veterinary resource in the rural Texas landscape.

Several distinct **features** set Pecan Grove Veterinary Services apart. One significant feature is their **mixed animal expertise**. This dual capability for both small and large animals is invaluable in a region where many households have both pets and livestock. This means clients don't have to seek out multiple veterinary providers for different animal types. Another key feature is their **compassionate and understanding approach**, as highlighted by the positive customer review. The doctor's kindness and willingness to provide guidance, even when services weren't ultimately rendered, speaks to a deeply empathetic practice. This fosters trust and provides comfort during challenging times for pet owners. The availability of **emergency care and mobile services** further underscores their commitment to client and patient needs. The ability to have a vet come to a farm for a sick horse or to reach a doctor on call during off-hours is critical for animal health and peace of mind for owners. Their team includes experienced veterinarians like Dr. Derrick Bibb, who was born and raised in Abilene, TX, indicating a local understanding and commitment to the region. Their professional memberships in various veterinary associations (American Veterinary Medical Association, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Equine Practitioners, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, Texas Equine Veterinary Association) signify adherence to high professional standards and continuous learning in their respective fields.

Regarding **promotional information**, Pecan Grove Veterinary Services relies on its reputation for reliable and compassionate care, combined with its strong community engagement. Their website, www.pgvsllano.com, serves as the primary hub for information, outlining their services, providing contact details, and offering an appointment request form. This online presence is crucial for reaching potential clients and providing essential details. They explicitly welcome new clients and encourage them to contact the clinic to schedule an appointment. Their service area, extending to multiple towns in the Texas Hill Country, is a key promotional point, highlighting their reach. The clear communication regarding emergency protocols, including the 50-mile radius for farm calls, helps manage client expectations and promotes their readiness for critical situations. While specific limited-time promotional offers are not detailed in the provided information, their dedication to providing "the highest quality veterinary care" and their emphasis on being "honest and dependable" serve as ongoing promotional messages designed to build lasting client relationships. The positive customer review, even from an individual who did not ultimately use their services, acts as a powerful testament to their excellent client communication and ethical practice, which are invaluable forms of promotion. They actively encourage clients to contact them to discuss how they can care for their animals, indicating a proactive and client-focused approach to engagement.

Called with a sick horse around 5:00 in the evening on a Thursday needing emergency care. Left a message and never got a call back or even a call on Friday to even see if I still needed help.

We've been meaning to leave a review for awhile now. We've been very happy with Dr. Lawton & staff. I found my older cat on the streets of Marble Falls last summer & it took us a minute before finding Dr. Lawton. When you have a geriatric pet it often accompanies chronic conditions like arthritis etc. This is an area where SO many vets are like "yeah nothing we can do". We knew Dr. L was "the one" when she mentioned a new drug option she researched & that she'd consider various treatment plans, when we hit that point. Just an example. Yes, they're busy BUT they do superior work & aren't calloused like so many medical professionals are today. Means a lot that as the baby ages & more things invariably come up, that she has qualified people around her who cares. Terry & the rest of staff are warm, accommodating, and just nice people. Thanks ya'll. We may be moving to MF but will be back for her check ups cuz we ain't switching vets. Appreciate them so much 馃樈

Outstanding veterinary service. Super knowledgeable and practical. Was able to diagnose our dog鈥檚 issue that had stumped several other vets. Compassionate and knowledgeable, what more could you ask for?
