I have never personally visited Pasternak Veterinary, but based on my friend’s recommendation, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing. Last Thursday, my dog developed swelling under her eye, so my husband took her to the Pasternak Vet the next day. Dr. Henry Pasternak examined her, prescribed antibiotics, and told my husband that she might have been bitten by something in the grass. When my husband asked if it could be related to her tooth, the vet checked and assured him there was nothing wrong with her teeth. We followed Dr. Pasternak’s instructions and administered the antibiotics, but instead of improving, the swelling worsened, leading to an open wound that started bleeding. My husband took her back to the clinic, where they drained the abscess and finally acknowledged that it was related to her tooth. What frustrates me the most is that the Dr. misdiagnosed my dog, resulting in unnecessary pain and bleeding. We ended up being charged $350 for two visits, and now we have to take our puppy to a dental clinic to have the tooth removed. This situation could have been avoided if the correct antibiotics had been prescribed and proper guidance given regarding the dental issue. If you love your pet, I strongly recommend avoiding this clinic. I regret trusting my friend’e recommendation and taking my puppy here.

Welcome to Pasternak Veterinary Center
Pasternak Veterinary Center, categorized as a “Pet Hospital” within the platform, is a veterinary facility located at 2038 S Sepulveda Blvd, West Los Angeles, CA 90025, USA. They can be reached by phone at (310) 268-2275 or via mobile at +1 310-268-2275. As a local veterinary care provider, Pasternak Veterinary Center aims to offer a range of services designed to address the health and well-being of pets in the West Los Angeles community.
Regarding the environment of Pasternak Veterinary Center, publicly available information does not provide extensive details on the physical layout or specific interior design. However, as a veterinary center, it is expected to maintain a professional, clean, and organized environment conducive to animal care. This typically includes a reception area for check-ins, waiting spaces for pet owners, examination rooms, and potentially surgical or treatment areas. The overall atmosphere of a veterinary clinic is crucial for both pet comfort and owner peace of mind, aiming to reduce stress for animals during their visits.
Pasternak Veterinary Center offers a variety of services typical of a full-service pet hospital. These services generally encompass routine veterinary care, such as examinations, vaccinations, and preventive medicine, as well as addressing acute illnesses and injuries. More complex services, including diagnostics and potentially surgical procedures, are also part of a comprehensive veterinary offering. For example, one review mentions the draining of an abscess, which indicates their capacity to handle such procedures. Additionally, the clinic's involvement in dental issues, even if it led to a subsequent referral, suggests they are equipped to identify and initially manage such conditions.
A notable aspect of their services, as highlighted in a positive customer review, is their care for senior pets. Dr. Pasternak specifically receives praise for guiding a client through the "final chapter" of their senior chihuahua's life, indicating a compassionate and supportive approach to geriatric pet care and end-of-life considerations. This suggests a commitment to providing comprehensive care that extends beyond just medical treatment, embracing emotional support for both pets and their owners during challenging times.
The features of Pasternak Veterinary Center, as gleaned from customer experiences, present a mixed picture. On one hand, there is strong appreciation for the compassionate and dedicated care provided by Dr. Pasternak and his team, particularly for senior pets. Clients express deep gratitude for the time and guidance received, emphasizing the emotional support and effective management of challenging health stages. This highlights a personalized and empathetic approach to veterinary medicine, where the bond between pet and owner is clearly recognized and respected.
Conversely, one significant feature that has been a point of concern is diagnostic accuracy, specifically in relation to dental issues. A detailed review describes a scenario where an initial misdiagnosis of a swelling under a dog's eye as a bite led to delayed treatment for a tooth-related abscess. This particular experience raises questions about the thoroughness of initial examinations and the diagnostic protocols in place for certain conditions. It also underscores the importance of a comprehensive approach to symptoms, especially when common conditions like dental problems can manifest in seemingly unrelated ways. The subsequent need for a separate dental clinic visit and additional costs became a source of frustration for the pet owner, highlighting that while a broad range of services might be offered, the depth and accuracy of diagnosis in specific areas can be a critical factor for clients.
From a promotional standpoint, Pasternak Veterinary Center relies on both direct services and client testimonials. The positive reviews, emphasizing the compassionate care for senior pets and the profound impact Dr. Pasternak has had on extending and improving their pets' lives, serve as powerful endorsements. These testimonials likely attract pet owners who prioritize empathetic and supportive care, especially for older animals with complex needs. Such personal stories of gratitude often resonate deeply within the pet-owning community.
However, the existence of negative feedback, particularly regarding diagnostic errors and perceived unnecessary costs, also forms part of their public profile. While not a direct promotional effort, these experiences can influence prospective clients' decisions. For a veterinary center, transparency and consistent high-quality care across all aspects, including accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning, are paramount. Future promotional efforts might aim to reinforce their commitment to comprehensive and accurate care while addressing any perceived gaps in service or communication, ensuring that all clients feel confident in the care their pets receive.
In conclusion, Pasternak Veterinary Center operates as a local "Pet Hospital" offering a range of veterinary services in West Los Angeles. It appears to excel in providing compassionate care, particularly for senior pets, with Dr. Pasternak receiving high praise for his supportive guidance. However, client experiences also indicate areas where diagnostic thoroughness could be improved, especially concerning dental-related issues. For pet owners in the area, Pasternak Veterinary Center represents an option that offers a blend of dedicated care, yet potential clients should consider all available feedback when making their choice for their pet's health needs.

Dec 31, 2024 · S FDr. Pasternak is the best vet I have ever met in my life and that’s no exaggeration. He has given me time with my senior chihuahua that I didn’t think I would get. He has guided me through every step of his final chapter and I am so grateful to him and his amazing team. Thank you to everyone at Pasternak Vet Center from Nikki & Dexter!
Mar 25, 2025 · Nikki FaragMy Cocker Spaniel, Goldy, has been under Dr. Pasternak's care for about four years. Last summer, she developed a stubborn ear infection persisting for three months. Despite trying various drops, pills, and ointments with little success, Dr. Pasternak surprised me by prescribing supplements instead of antibiotics. Remarkably, my 12-year-old dog is now as lively as a puppy, her ears have cleared up, cysts around her body have diminished, and her energy is through the roof. Dr. Pasternak's holistic approach, integrating traditional and alternative therapies, impressed me with its comprehensive care. His emphasis on addressing root causes rather than just symptoms reflects a commitment to overall pet well-being. Clear communication and personalized treatment plans further contributed to this positive experience. Thank you Dr.Pasternak and your team!
Feb 16, 2024 · Albina FilatoffSpent 6 months going to this vet often last year from February to September 2023 with my dog who got diagnosed with cancer. He had never been to the vet expect as a puppy. I opted to take him to a holistic vet, rather than an oncologist. This vet gave me six great months with my dog. Was the first vet experience with an animals that didn’t leave me questioning my self. Pasternak might be a little quirky but he loves animals and I prefer vets like that. Opened my mind to holistically treating not only my pets but myself I love that walk ins are an option because most vets don’t do that. Made it easy when my dog had a bad day to bring him in. I love the front house they were always nice unlike other vets I’ve been too.
Jul 24, 2024 · ElWe have been taking our two dogs and two cats to Pasternak now for five years. Pastornak is amazing. He always does his best to find the solution. They are very reasonably priced and we love love love this location for non-emergency situation.. it is also very easy to get in the same day without an appointment. If you call ahead highly recommend this location if you’re in the West LA area.
