Both of my kittens died while under Dr. Fung's care for routine neuter surgery. Our experience with Dr. Fung was terribly traumatic and made worse by how callously we were treated after the deaths of our beloved pets. I have filed a complaint against her license with the state. I was notified that my complaint was reviewed and approved by the board for investigation and that she is currently under investigation by the state and LARA. I have been advised this is a long process and I want to post our story to protect other families and their babies from this type of trauma. We took in our two kittens for routine neuter surgery and both kittens died while under her care that day. I was not notified by the vet herself that both of my animals had died, instead I was called by the office manager. When I arrived to say goodbye to my animals, Dr. Fung never came into see me or explain what had happened. Instead, she had the office manager who is a layperson, attempt to explain why my animals died. She explained that Dr Fung believed both kittens had a genetic anomaly and that both of them, and even their littermates, would most likely have died within a year. (I reached out to the owner of the littermates and they were seen by a cardiologist and scans showed them to have no genetic anomalies.) Dr. Fung took one X-ray of each of my animals post mortem. I was told by the office manager that the doctor was able to determine cause of death from this image and that no necropsy was needed. I was left alone with my two dead babies to say goodbye. When the office manager came back, it was to discuss billing and payment. I was told I could take their bodies and bury them myself or I could pay for cremation services. I told her I had prepaid for services and that I was overwhelmed at the thought of discussing billing during this traumatic moment. I left that day paying additional money to have their bodies cremated at my expense. I only was able to talk to Dr. Fung directly when I scheduled an appointment to discuss what happened to my animals. She said that my kittens had genetic anomalies that she could show me on the x-ray. She compared my kittens X-ray to a "healthy" cat’s X-ray she pulled up online and gave a lengthy explanation of the genetic anamolies she saw in the X-ray. After leaving her office, I reached out to a trusted veterinary professional for help and it was recommended that the x-rays be reviewed by an independent party. After many requests for higher resolution images were denied, I persisted, and her staff finally provided images that were able to be reviewed. The independent review was not able to confirm the congenital defects she purported. She asked to review the report and her response was that the reviewers “primary concern seems to be aspiration pneumonia, which was not the case.” She even went as far as to blame me for the length of time it took to acquire records and have them reviewed by saying, “you did not pursue action until well after the matter”. She was unwilling to reimburse us for the cost of the review or any of the $1135.00 we had given her over the 8 days from when my kittens established care with a pre surgical exam to when they died in surgery. I have been advised that a single veterinarian should not have more than one animal under anesthesia at a time and I have not received a satisfactory answer as to why the second kitten was ever put under anesthesia if the first had coded during surgery. I have so many unanswered questions and I hope this review helps protect other families from this type of tragedy.

Jan 31, 2025 · meghan munroDr fung is amazing. She’s been a blessing since our cats are so scared of everything and everyone. She even helped us find a home for the stray we found a few months ago. Highly recommended for all your pet’s medical and routine needs.
Sep 06, 2024 · Gigi M.We really love the folks at Parkway Animal Clinic. They show so much care and love for our pet every time we bring her in. They often go above and beyond as well. For example, we recently refilled our pet's pain medication and transitioned to an online pharmacy. Knowing that we were at the end of the current supply, Parkway stayed open a few minutes after hours and waited for us to pick up a small batch to get us through until the online meds arrived.
Feb 18, 2020 · jeff hunterWILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE EVER!!!!!! The vet had the nerve to tell me what I was doing with a high active dog, she literally put me down by asking what I was doing with a high energy dog, yes the dog nipped her because she came across in a very aggressive toward my son and myself. My son has special needs and he had to leave the room because he felt she was yelling at him about the dog. What all my husband and myself did was rescue a dog and we just wanted a dog also and it was the breed that we were praying for. The dog was neglected and my husband and I were put down for trying to do the right thing. This vet traumatized my son so bad he had to contact his case worker at Washtenaw Community Mental Health. My dog was traumatized because she yanked him around and he is still only a puppy. Yes, again he had nipped her, but he felt he was protecting his family. After all this trauma, I was told it would be $577.00 for all his shots and I had to prepay for them. When I was quoted on the phone for $65.00 Yes my dog needs his shots but not by this place all they were about was traumatizing the owners and their special needs son, and getting more money out of us. She also kept saying we couldn't take our dog out in public and to keep him away from people, I get that but she kept saying you can get sued over and over again. When she said our dog needed to be trained, I said could we take him to Petsmart and she said this dog is beyond pet smart and needs a real professional and gave us a number way out in Grosse Pointe Farms. No considering if we were low income or not she didn't care. I was sick and tired oof her ridiculing us for being new pet owners. NEVER TAKE YOUR ANIMALS THERE THE VET IS EVIL!
Jul 16, 2024 · Kimberly Jones-CarrI took my dog to Dr. Sutton for about 6 months. Everything was great and the staff were very kind to her. However, when she fell very ill and needed the most care, we were completely abandoned. We called several times, left voicemails, but not response or follow-up. Luckily, the ladies at Compassionate Care stepped in to keep her comfortable in her last few weeks. We never heard from anyone at Parkway again.
